I had a white spirit spill. It has sunk into the adhesive underlay underneath the carpet. I’m currently trying to get rid of the smell with the fan and dehumidifier.

How is this setup? Or is there something better I can do to get rid of it. It’s not airborne anymore it’s just trapped in the carpet adhesive and still probably in the actual fibres on top.

I tried to clean the fibres multiple times with all sorts of methods and carpet cleaners with no luck. Even acetone to neutralise it.

Please let me know I’m very keen to get rid of this smell. Thanks :)

Whenever I enter a room I notice the energy shift. This is mainly with anxious people. The vibe suddenly seems all stressed and chaotic. For context I am confident and grounded. Calm confidence, not performative.

People will even be cold and standoffish with me till I engage a smile. But to me it seems others can me neutral with them for them to not be standoffish. But the same doesn’t work for me. I need to engage a smile for them to relax. Is that cause confidence is more intimidating if you don’t? Whereas if you have anxious energy it feels less intense being neutral?

I will always find it weird that we work this way as humans. As I am comfortable with people being neutral and I’m not sure why that’s not acceptable for most.

I am not great at always remembering to signal like smile etc, only because I feel calm and grounded inside and to me that should also translate to others by my vibe but realise me not micro signalling that all is ok while also being confident and grounded could be hard to read/intense.

Is it possible my energy is actually causing this impact? Or is it more likely that I am just very socially aware and picking up on their anxious energy? And are they also picking up that I’m picking it up and analysing and that makes them more anxious?

I’m always down to improve and change my presence.

Cheers!

TLDR: Since growth in confidence I am way more observant of how others feel. It’s a blessing and a curse but I need help regulating it.

So I had my friends over at the weekend. One of my friends often says she is sure I have autism. She is someone who works with autistic ppl and says she sees similarities.

I’ll preface this by saying she also said she thinks she has it herself, so it could be some kind of projection trying to look for someone who also has it.

Reasons I don’t think I have autism:

  1. I am not socially anxious at all, I feel confident and happy in my skin. I do analyse and pickup on peoples facial expressions very well.

But this is more from a lens of I notice when others are uncomfortable and try and make them comfortable. This is more empathy. It’s never to mask or copy their behaviours.

  1. I have normal eating habits and don’t have any food that I don’t enjoy.

  2. I make a lot of eye contact and don’t find it uncomfortable at all. I also never have an internal dialogue when socialising. I just talk. I analyse others as a social skill but I don’t analyse myself.

  3. I enjoy spontaneous trips when I have the money. I work for myself in a job where every day is different and doesn’t stick to a routine.

  4. I am not sensitive to sounds yet this particular friend always says to turn noises down that are too loud. Along with another friend.

Possible considerations:

  1. I do have a new hobby now and again. At one stage It was dyeing my clothes.

  2. I find social politeness fake, I just show up as me unapologetically. But I’m a polite person anyway and this is the real me and not a masked verison. So I think this is confidence as I don’t copy anyone. I am happy reacting how I want to react, not by the rule book.

  3. I do prefer spending time alone most of the time and seeing people when I want to. But I personally just put this down to being ambiverted. I do get energy from socialising with the right ppl.

  4. I am pretty into things like changing my classic light bulbs to ones with colour options 😂. But again I think certain traits everyone has and this doesn’t confirm autism.

I’ll end on saying I do tend to get on better with neurodivergent people because I prefer the realness. But I think it’s possible to just crave something real and not have autism. That’s just being authentic.

Is it possible this friend is just projecting what she thinks she sees as she doesn’t know how I really feel inside. Or feels that way herself so is trying to see it in me?

Anyway this has been playing on my mind a bit. So i’d love any opinions! Thanks guys :)

TLDR: Friend thinks I have autism but I’d argue my list says otherwise, I don’t relate to the experience of an autistic person from my pov and think she may be projecting.

I’ve currently put down plates of coffee grounds and vinegar and bicarb while pointing a fan towards the window and running a dehumidifier.

I used acetone to get rid of the smell of white sprit in the carpet as it was the only thing to get rid of it.

I’ve rubbed the carpet with various things but acetone was the only thing to get the smell of the white spirit smell out. However I worry once that acetone evaporates the white spirit smell will come back.

Is there anything else that can be tried? I have guests coming over tomorrow and I’m desperate to get rid of the smell of white spirit and I worry once the acetone goes it’ll remain.

Thank you.

I tried multiple different methods. Everything you could imagine. The only thing to neutralise the smell of white spirit in a carpet was acetone. Finally the smell is more or less gone.

What I’ve tried:

Acetone

Paint thinner

Booing Water

I’ve also tried the cutting method but the carpet fibres are just too short for that.

Please send me ur nuclear options to get rid of it (UK based, it’s a rental flat so I can’t replace the carpet)

I replaced my iPhone 14 Pro battery a month or so ago with a well reviewed Amazon one an for the first week the battery was incredible and I didn’t lose charges

Now the performance is as bad as my 75% health genuine battery one month in and barely gets me through half a day. The message to finish the repair also doesn’t go away.

What’s happening here? Is there a way to recalibrate it or something? I did do the standard calibration procedure when I first got it.

Thanks :)

I believe it started happening after I cleaned the keyboard. None of the software resets worked but I’m willing to try more. No matter what I do it won’t come back on.

(Fans also need replacing but that’s an easier fix I’m going to do)

I am not willing to solder it as that’s what YouTube seems to imply needs to be done. So I’ll either live with it or find an easier repair alternative or sell it (noting the issue)

Please lmk. Thanks :)
