I literally hate my fucking life

The fact that it’s almost been two weeks and I still can’t eat the shit that I wanna eat is frustrating. I’m getting tired of this bullshit ass soft food diet. I want a fucking pizza or I want some fucking chips or I want something that is not going to be fucking soft. This shit is so fucking annoying. I honestly wish that the man who made this surgery killed himself.

I have nerve damage. what is the best thing for the nerve pain? Anyone know?

Hello,

I unfortunately did get the side affect of numbness of the lip, chin, gums, etc on my lower left.

Anyone know anything for the nerve pain?

I was given some strong pain meds and Advil for the first 6 days, but nothing is hitting the pain. Anyone have any tips?

This is not normal, right? Day 4 and day 7

I removed my upper right wisdom tooth 7 days ago. The first picture is from day 4 and the last one is from day 7. It’s a bit hard to get good pictures, so these are screenshots from videos I took.

I still have some pain (not unbearable), and I’ve also had mild headaches. The thing that worries me most is that it tastes really weird in my mouth, and I think there’s a bad smell too. I don’t feel like this looks completely normal.

Should I go back to the dentist tomorrow and get it checked??

Question about irrigating/salt rinses

How often should I be irrigating the extraction sites throughout the day? I’m currently on day 4 and my surgeon told me to start gently irrigating my lower extraction sites with a syringe to remove food debris. Should I keep doing the salt water rinses after meals, or switch to just irrigating instead? I completely forgot to ask him 😅

Jaw bone exposed after wisdom teeth extraction. Any cause for concern?

I’m 10 days post wisdom teeth extraction. And starting day 7 I started syringing my holes and noticed exposed bone extending from my extraction hole. I however dont have any excruciating pain or foul odor as one would get from a dry socket. I called the oral surgeon office and they said it was normal and not to worry and that I didn’t need a follow up. I just don’t know if I should push to get it checked or not. Let me know what y’all think.

As a side note, I have numbness in my bottom chin, lip and teeth from what I suspect is a damaged nerve. I am slowly gaining feeling again though.

finally got my impacted upper wisdom tooth out - will it improve acne?

This OPG is from about 7 months ago, and I only had the tooth extracted yesterday. I haven’t felt any pain so far!

I’m curious whether there’s any link between wisdom tooth bacteria and acne. I eat well and take great care of myself, but I still deal with mild, persistent breakouts. I look forward to seeing if removing this might actually make a difference 😄

Day 10, accidentally tugged a stitch

Hey there, I had all four removed 10 days ago. I’ve had basically no pain for 3-4 days now and I’m off all my medications, but haven’t had my follow up appointment yet. About half an hour ago I had what I thought was food in my teeth and tried to pick it out and I felt a stitch pull through the gum area. I trimmed the bit that was hanging (about 2 cm) so i wouldn’t pull it more but now I feel a bit of tenderness on the extraction point. I’m panicking a bit, has anyone had this happen? am I screwed, or just overreacting?

Triazolam questions

I’ll be getting an extraction this week (two teeth). They want me to take triazolam (two 0.25 mg pills) in the morning, before the procedure. Questions…

Driver - unfortunately, I don’t have anyone nearby that can drop me and pick me up. I might ask a neighbor or hire a transport service. Worst case: I’ll use lyft/uber (dentist office said this is not ideal, but I can use this option). Any experiences with this?

Do these pills knock you out real good? Lol. I’m actually kind of nervous about that (being overly sedated). What if I just took one pill?

Any other comments? I’m actually more anxious about the sedation, than the actual procedure.

Thanks!

Please help

I got all four wisdom teeth out last week Thursday. They were all fully under the skin so I had to be put under and everything. It all went fine but I’m not so sure now. Randomly yesterday my mouth just tasted terrible. So I did a salt rinse and it fixed it. Then it happened again and the salt rinse didn’t work. Ever since the second time the taste has been getting soo much worse it’s at the point now where it’s worse than the actual surgery and not being able to eat. It’s like actually almost making me gag 24/7. It also smells bad but that could just be the taste. Salt water doesn’t work, brushing teeth doesn’t work, mouthwash doesn’t work, tiktacs don’t work, I don’t know what to do it’s tastes terrible. Please help.

I can’t really describe the taste rather than just terrible. It is overwhelming where it overrules my delicious homemade popsicles.

Pain hasn’t been too bad it more just feels hot from my upper jaw to the top of my nose. It kinda feels like when you’ve been in a hot shower to long but only in the lower part of my head and upper neck.

Idk what dry socket is exactly but I know it’s kinda related to it so if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Things I have been doing

-salt rinse 3 times a day

-lightly brushing teeth with manual toothbrush

-eating soft foods

-using cold packs

-using pain and swelling meds my doctor gave me

Thanks!!

I regret having this coronectomy

So, I had a coronectomy for my lower left wisdom tooth. Was put under general anaesthetic and for the first 24hrs post op I was fine, sore but nothing over whelming. Its gets to Saturday night and the pain starts to suddenly increase. And by Sunday it's the worst pain I've ben in my life, I just know its infected as I can taste a sourness in my mouth. So now it's Monday, call my dentist first thing at half 8 and manage to get an appointment for 10am, as soon as I open my mouth she says "yes that's infected" and has prescribed me a 5 day course of amoxicillian and metronidazole. Anyways this is the worst pain I've ever been in, I'm worried I'm going to have a similar case to what I read on here, where the infection doesn't really leave and it's comes back for months until another surgery is required and I'm going to be on antibiotics for months on end. Day 3 and I genuinely don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, I had this procedure done to stop getting infections not to ensure the worst one ever. Is this normal, has anyone has a similar experience?

Here’s a list of food suggestions:)

I’m 3 weeks post op. My recovery has been absolutely wild. I had the bottom two out, they were fully sideways/impacted. This entire time, I’ve been going back and forth between this subreddit and dr google (not a good idea i know). I definitely haven’t had the best time with eating during this as I’m still not using my back teeth and continuing semi soft foods. I cried everyday for at least 10+ days because of not being able to eat what my family ate. However, I found some options that have been a lifesaver and maybe it can help someone else (as this subreddit also has been very helpful for me) so I figured I’d list everything i’ve had (still having too!) :))

• Lots of baby food, my favs were the Gerber sweet potatoes & mango carrot banana puree

• Chicken bone broth (my fav!) and what made this extra better, throwing in some italian bread (crustless), letting it soak. It was amazing

• Instant sweet mashed potatoes and regular. I love sweet potatoes! Add gravy down the line

• I had some jello but honestly, I had a hard time eating it. I also tend to chew EVERYTHING so even if something can be swallowed whole, I can’t just swallow it

• Pudding of course, my fav is the Snack Pack banana cream pie

• COOL WHIP!!!

• Specifically french vanilla ice cream (add cool whip too)

• Chobani protein yogurt drinks

• Homemade pb chocolate banana protein smoothies (almond milk, yogurt, honey, choc protein powder, pb, banana, add choc syrup or cocoa powder if wanted)

• Peach mango smoothies (yogurt, milk, add frozen fruit)

• Popsicles, I enjoyed those swirl ones and Outshine brand (don’t suck on them. I embarrassingly used a spoon.

• Breakfast essential powder! I blended it with yogurt and milk a lot (i got strawberry)

• French toast sticks in the microwave. For extra soggy/soft, add syrup before microwaving

• Inside of a calzone lol (ricotta, mozzarella, meatball (the meatballs were not fried, very soft)

• Baked potatoes with just butter and sour cream

• Baked sweet potatoes with maple syrup and butter (I just started to have it with brown sugar again, I missed it so much)

• Homemade french toast but with regular sandwich bread so it’s thin, also drenched in syrup (I love syrup)

• Inside of a fried meatball lol

• Small pasta (ditalini has been my bestie) with butter and cheese

• Stovetop mac n cheese

• Chef boyardee mac n cheese and pasta in butter

• Little debbie cakes like swiss rolls, donut sticks, honey buns, cupcakes, etc

• Soggy french fries

• Fast food burgers with no bun, just ketchup and cheese (thin enough to eat, I used a fork to take tiny bites

• Specifically the Tyson brand of Honey battered chicken tenders - MICROWAVED. Nobody really enjoys soggy chicken nuggets, i know BUT this was so good to have after wanting a non sweet treat!

• Popcorn chicken, also microwaved. Able to take tiny bites and again, soggy!

• Warm cinnamon rolls

• Muffins with nothing added

• BANANA BREAD with nothing adding. I suppose you can add choc chips as long as you microwave a leftover slice to make it melted. this was AMAZING tho

• Box cake mix

• Baked haddock, I just didn’t eat the breading. This is the only fish I’ll eat and let me tell you, it was def one of the easier things for me!

•Applesauce, as boring as it is. I actually got Pumpkin spice applesauce cups from Walmart though!

• Plopping an oreo in milk to make it soggy

• Mini pancakes (drenched in syrup)

• Chicken and dumplings (homemade dumplings)

• Canned carrots have been my go to veggie

• Cheese omelet! Omelets have been way easier to eat than scrambled eggs imo. I just started to incorporate spinach into mine, very lightly!

• Thomas brand has these “toaster cakes”, they’re corn cakes and I microwave mine w some butter & they’re fantastic!

• Craving a float but don’t wanna risk having anything carbonated? Take some ice cream and pour some soda into it, mix it up till the ice cream is like soft serve. Now you have that soda taste into your ice cream w/ no carbonation!

• Slices of cheese to just kinda munch on

• Mac n cheese cups, add shredded cheese to it

• Boiled pierogies. They’re my least fav way to cook pierogies but it worked

• Stuffed shells with no sauce

• Hotdogs, skinless

• Soggy fries with nacho cheese

There are definitely more but I know this is a big list anyways lol. Lastly though, I’ve been drinking tea like crazy. I do anyways but I’m drinking 2+ cups a day rather than 1 a day. The big two have been green tea and chamomile! Both are good for inflammation. Just make sure it’s warm, not hot. Also be careful with anything acidic! I tried to eat pasta with tomato sauce last week & it hurt my gums! Just irritated them. It sucks because I love hot sauce and I’m not sure when to try it again haha.

I hope someone finds this helpful. Thanks to subreddit for getting me through this, as recovery feels never ending 😩

What is this?

day 6 after getting all 4 wisdom teeth out, ate a very small piece of chicken and couldn’t continue, after an hour felt something in my gums, i thought it was a piece of chicken stuck so i tried to flush it out but nothing came out, i think this might be stitches but unsure

Based on X-ray, will my procedure be quick and easy?

30 year old male. My wisdom teeth extractions (all 4) are scheduled to be removed in 7 days. I opted in for only local anesthesia. Based on my x-ray, will this be a pretty easy procedure? Should I remove all 4?

I’ve been having inflamed gums around my bottom right wisdom tooth. Oral surgeon recommended to have all 4 removed to prevent future issues as well as the top right wisdom tooth shifting down.

Should I get them removed sooner rather than later?

I got x rays done about a month or two ago, doctor kinda rushed through it because I was alone and young, told me I had to get them all removed even though the tops ones appeared mostly fine, however I am open to believing the doctors advice.

And the bottom left should be removed 100%.

Right now the tops are starting to break the gums similarly to when my younger teeth came in. Slight aches nothing too painful, very mild headache.

I was hoping to wait until getting to bootcamp in August, then the government would pay me to take them out and I would get a handful of days off from the bootcamp regiment.

Do you think the small aches and tooth poking out is a sign to hurry things up?

Post-Op Concerns

Hey all.

Just had my top two wisdom teeth removed last Friday around 10am. Since then, I've had no tooth pain or soreness, a little jaw soreness though. I think that might be because i keep my mouth closed as much as possible to not stretch the inside.

Bled for a few hours post-op, but was done before I even went to bed. Been doing jello, applesauce, yogurt, and protein shakes for the last 4 days.

I'm a little paranoid about getting food stuck in the holes, and I can't see them either. I'd like to try eating some more hot and/or solid foods soon, but i'm worried i won't be able to irrigate properly since i can't see the holes. It also makes it difficult to tell how the healing process is going and makes me more unsure as to when even soft hot food will be an option.

My body feels like i'm not getting enough nourishment from what i'm eating right now. I'm not a huge eater normally, but what i'm eating normally is more nutrient rich overall. I feel a little unstable on my legs and dizzy as my next meal approaches because of how undernourished i am from my last one.

Any advice on this stuff would be appreciated. I am clinically diagnosed w/anxiety, so i know that some of my worrying is due to that, but regardless i still feel unsure of how to proceed.

2 week post removal NSFW

I got my wisdom teeth out 2 weeks ago. I had tons of swelling and pain and it all went away expect for one of my bottom sockets which got stitched shut and was deeper in the bone. About 3 days ago I noticed a HORRIBLE smell from that one socket and a taste it in my mouth every once in a while. I called my dentist and he thought it was dry socket but once he saw he said the tissue looked good rinsed my mouth out and sent me on my way. I’ve been doing salt water rinses flossing all the things and I can’t get the smell to go away. It’s a dull pain that travels towards my ear but it’s not to intense. My gums along the molar that neighbors the socket is slightly pulling away and I think the smell is coming from it. When I use a water pick gently on that molar I can smell it way more. Does this look infected and when should the smell be going away. I don’t want to be dramatic and call the dentist again but I feel like I shouldn’t have this smell still.

Sick of this!!!

I'm so demotivated, it's officially been four days of eating nothing but liquids, I'm starving! My mouth is still very sore and my face is incredibly swollen. I'm tired of worrying about dry socket. I've barely been able to brush my teeth mostly because it hurts to open my mouth, so I'm also worried about cavities. It looks like my cheek got cut up during the surgery which might be why I'm in so much pain still on one side.

I just want to eat normal foods again! Desperately in search of ideas for things to eat that aren't ice cream and jello and soup and yogurt (I want ramen so bad), and/or ways to speed healing or just keep my head up. I'm so tired.

Inferior alveolar nerve

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted last week. Upon waking up my lips and chin were completely numb.

The morning after my surgery one side of my lips and chin went back to normal. Still one side of my lip and chin are numb (the side where my tooth was impacted). He said he might leave some of my tooth in there if it was too close to the nerve, but ended up taking it all outThey tingle, burn and feel heavy, but they are still numb.

The surgeon said the surgery went well, but I’m still really concerned that this is never going to go away. Has anyone else dealt with this?
