In need of a tick repellent but can’t seem to get a prescription - help?!

I have two dogs, a hound mix & a terrier mix (with a long thick furry black coat) and in the span of 2 days, we have pulled 5 ticks off of the terrier and 1 off of the hound.

We used to use the topical forms of repellent (cheaper versions of frontline) and they didn’t work well (I am not the one purchasing these things or making these decisions, I would like to clarify) and then the past two years, they switched to collars which did absolutely nothing.

My parent was about to order a random chewable off of amazon for about $20 (brand is petsology?) and it’s just an all natural chewable, didn’t have a whole lot of reviews either so I decided to do my own research and found that Simparica seemed to be a top favorite. I saw that Chewy can reach out to your vet for approval and more so we were about to order until we realized with our vet, we need to mail in a prescription. We called and asked about it and our vet is requiring an in person visit in order to get a prescription and soonest they can get the dogs in is September. Yeah. We’re at a loss. Unsure what to do or even try. Any recommendations or advice? Thanks!

4 weeks wisdom teeth removal post op - still experiencing discomfort?

Thursday will be 4 weeks post op of removal of my bottom wisdom teeth. They were fully impacted. I thought by now, I’d be all healed up and back to normal but i’m still experiencing a good amount of discomfort! It’s all mainly in the left side (first picture. second pic is right which still feels a bit funky but not as bad). It feels heavy? Like there’s lots of pressure inside? Inflamed? It feels not great when i syringe there, just loads of pressure. I can’t even lay on that side but can on my right. My cheek feels so strange. My jaw under that area hurts here and there, very achy (the surgeon did say I have TMJ) and I have weird nerve pain under my bottom left lip. Every time I brush my teeth, the left bleeds. I’ve been using a kids toothbrush too & I try not to be aggressive but I notice I’ve been getting build up where that gum flap is so I try at least lightly brushing there but when I do, I bleed! I also don’t understand why the gum flap is there still. I thought getting my teeth out would help that because I kept getting pericoronitis. Everytime I try to close my mouth, I feel like I’m biting my cheek, it just all feels so puffy.

On Day 16, I decided to take antibiotics I was prescribed on Day 6 (yeah, i know) because I felt like I had infection symptoms. I don’t know if it did anything but I at least took them (doxycycline 5 day). I finished my chlorhexidine mouth wash as well. I’m still doing salt water rinses after every meal. Not to mention, I’ve got sores on my tongue and a bad sore on my throat, I’ve had enough🥲. Does the left look bad from what is shown? I have a hard time taking these pics! It definitely looks a bit purple/darker IRL.

Almost 4 weeks post op - still experiencing discomfort, bleeding when brushing teeth?!

Thursday will be 4 weeks post op of removal of my bottom wisdom teeth. I thought by now, I’d be all healed up and back to normal but i’m still experiencing hella discomfort! It’s all mainly in the left side (first picture. second pic is right which still feels a bit funky but not as bad). It feels heavy? Like there’s lots of pressure inside? Movie premiere question

I’m not sure if anyone knows for sure but for the premiere at tribeca film fest, i see there’s 3 showings listed. I also read that magbay will be there for a performance and there will be a discussion with the director. Do we think that’s only for the first show or will that include the other 2 as well?

Here’s a list of food suggestions:)

I’m 3 weeks post op. My recovery has been absolutely wild. I had the bottom two out, they were fully sideways/impacted. This entire time, I’ve been going back and forth between this subreddit and dr google (not a good idea i know). I definitely haven’t had the best time with eating during this as I’m still not using my back teeth and continuing semi soft foods. I cried everyday for at least 10+ days because of not being able to eat what my family ate. However, I found some options that have been a lifesaver and maybe it can help someone else (as this subreddit also has been very helpful for me) so I figured I’d list everything i’ve had (still having too!) :))

• Lots of baby food, my favs were the Gerber sweet potatoes & mango carrot banana puree

• Chicken bone broth (my fav!) and what made this extra better, throwing in some italian bread (crustless), letting it soak. It was amazing

• Instant sweet mashed potatoes and regular. I love sweet potatoes! Add gravy down the line

• I had some jello but honestly, I had a hard time eating it. I also tend to chew EVERYTHING so even if something can be swallowed whole, I can’t just swallow it

• Pudding of course, my fav is the Snack Pack banana cream pie

• COOL WHIP!!!

• Specifically french vanilla ice cream (add cool whip too)

• Chobani protein yogurt drinks

• Homemade pb chocolate banana protein smoothies (almond milk, yogurt, honey, choc protein powder, pb, banana, add choc syrup or cocoa powder if wanted)

• Peach mango smoothies (yogurt, milk, add frozen fruit)

• Popsicles, I enjoyed those swirl ones and Outshine brand (don’t suck on them. I embarrassingly used a spoon.

• Breakfast essential powder! I blended it with yogurt and milk a lot (i got strawberry)

• French toast sticks in the microwave. For extra soggy/soft, add syrup before microwaving

• Inside of a calzone lol (ricotta, mozzarella, meatball (the meatballs were not fried, very soft)

• Baked potatoes with just butter and sour cream

• Baked sweet potatoes with maple syrup and butter (I just started to have it with brown sugar again, I missed it so much)

• Homemade french toast but with regular sandwich bread so it’s thin, also drenched in syrup (I love syrup)

• Inside of a fried meatball lol

• Small pasta (ditalini has been my bestie) with butter and cheese

• Stovetop mac n cheese

• Chef boyardee mac n cheese and pasta in butter

• Little debbie cakes like swiss rolls, donut sticks, honey buns, cupcakes, etc

• Soggy french fries

• Fast food burgers with no bun, just ketchup and cheese (thin enough to eat, I used a fork to take tiny bites

• Specifically the Tyson brand of Honey battered chicken tenders - MICROWAVED. Nobody really enjoys soggy chicken nuggets, i know BUT this was so good to have after wanting a non sweet treat!

• Popcorn chicken, also microwaved. Able to take tiny bites and again, soggy!

• Warm cinnamon rolls

• Muffins with nothing added

• BANANA BREAD with nothing adding. I suppose you can add choc chips as long as you microwave a leftover slice to make it melted. this was AMAZING tho

• Box cake mix

• Baked haddock, I just didn’t eat the breading. This is the only fish I’ll eat and let me tell you, it was def one of the easier things for me!

•Applesauce, as boring as it is. I actually got Pumpkin spice applesauce cups from Walmart though!

• Plopping an oreo in milk to make it soggy

• Mini pancakes (drenched in syrup)

• Chicken and dumplings (homemade dumplings)

• Canned carrots have been my go to veggie

• Cheese omelet! Omelets have been way easier to eat than scrambled eggs imo. I just started to incorporate spinach into mine, very lightly!

• Thomas brand has these “toaster cakes”, they’re corn cakes and I microwave mine w some butter & they’re fantastic!

• Craving a float but don’t wanna risk having anything carbonated? Take some ice cream and pour some soda into it, mix it up till the ice cream is like soft serve. Now you have that soda taste into your ice cream w/ no carbonation!

• Slices of cheese to just kinda munch on

• Mac n cheese cups, add shredded cheese to it

• Boiled pierogies. They’re my least fav way to cook pierogies but it worked

• Stuffed shells with no sauce

• Hotdogs, skinless

• Soggy fries with nacho cheese

There are definitely more but I know this is a big list anyways lol. Lastly though, I’ve been drinking tea like crazy. I do anyways but I’m drinking 2+ cups a day rather than 1 a day. The big two have been green tea and chamomile! Both are good for inflammation. Just make sure it’s warm, not hot. Also be careful with anything acidic! I tried to eat pasta with tomato sauce last week & it hurt my gums! Just irritated them. It sucks because I love hot sauce and I’m not sure when to try it again haha.

I hope someone finds this helpful. Thanks to subreddit for getting me through this, as recovery feels never ending 😩

3 weeks post op today. Ran out of the Chlorhexidine mouthwash. Do I still need it?

I had the bottoms out, severly impacted. I don’t really know how I’m healing… the right looks and feels better than the left. The left side still looks and feels inflamed. I finished the bottle of the mouthwash and am unsure if I should ask for a refill, use an OTC antibacterial mouthwash, if it’s fine to use regular mouthwash now, or no mouthwash and just continue salt water rinses after every meal? I have my follow up next week with the surgeon! I also know that chlorhexidine isn’t really supposed to be used longer than 3-4 weeks so any suggestions? Thanks!
