RLT for lipedema, dysautonomia, and chronic pain

RLT for lipedema, dysautonomia, and chronic pain

I just purchased a Hooga HG200 panel over the weekend and was curious how you all have your set up configured.

As I understand it, you’re not to exceed 20 minutes a day, but my panel isn’t large enough to hit the front of my thighs and arms (for lipedema) at the same time, plus I need to treat the back of my thighs (for lipedema) and upper back/neck/left shoulder for chronic pain.

What are your suggestions on how to angle my panel to hit multiple spots and/or how to fold this all into a weekly routine while making sure each spot is getting treated enough?

Red Light and NIR for Foreskin Restoration Question

I’ve already talked at length in the foreskin restoration community but wanted to get your opinions on this matter as well.

I have the EMR TEK inferno pro panel and I love it for my hair and skin. I’m obviously restoring my foreskin as the title gives away and I’ve been doing so for over two years (it’s been a world of a difference).

I’m now learning through the fr community and through research that the I want to grow flexible collagen and not scarring collagen. It seems that the jury is out if red light and nir light helps or hurts this process…

The research shows that low fluence increases fibroblasts and high fluence decreases it. But that’s just red light and not near infrared - that is just a black box rn.

What do you guys think? Does anyone know if NIR helps or hinders the flexible collagen (type III)?

RLT After Knee Surgery

I had surgery to repair a patella fracture in February. The one or two RLT spots in my city were really expensive, but a local tanning salon just added several two-panel booths at an affordable monthly rate and I just went in for my first 10-minute session. I have two questions:

  1. should the experience feel hot? The website says they use three wavelengths in their panels - 630nm, 660nm, and 850nm. I was almost immediately very warm, like a hot sauna or standing in direct intense sunlight. I didn’t expect it at all. Is that the higher wavelength and can it harm healing or negatively impact visibility/formation of my incision scar?

  2. I’ve read that RLT boosts facial and body hair growth. I already deal with excessive dark facial hair as a woman and am not looking to promote more, but the booths leave nowhere to hide. I’d love the skin benefits for my face, but I’m here for healing primarily. Has anyone used a mineral sunscreen on common facial hair locations to prevent this? Or will I need to cover my face every session?

Also, if you’ve had knee surgery, hit me with your stories using RLT.

Found a quick calming effect

We have Mito Light panel, small one - Starter 4.0. I read that it can help regulate hormones, so the other day I did a session aiming it at my lower belly. I did 20 minutes with RL and NIR both at 100%, and standing about 15-20 cm away.

That was in the evening, after that I moved about, prepared for bed, moved some furniture that was in the way - I mean I did not sit around. After about 30 minutes when I sat down I realized that I’m very very calm. Deep breathing calm, serene and sleepy. So when I went to bed I fell asleep fast and the watch in the morning gave a 96 sleeping score. 😄

All good, but can I consistently achieve the calm? 🤓

Today I did 10 minutes with the rest the same as the other day, in the afternoon. Felt calmer but not sleepy.

Tomorrow will try the 20 minutes in the evening.

According to Claude AI it’s an effect on the vagus nerve and that’s why it calms me and put me in a “rest and digest” mode.

I thought it might be useful for others to try.

[B&A] 4 Months of consistent Red Light Therapy! My redness is gone and I finally have that "glass skin" glow

Hey skincare fam! I had to share this because I’m honestly shocked looking back at these photos.

My Skin Struggles (Left Pic): > My skin barrier was so compromised. I had constant redness around my nose and cheeks, my texture was super dull, and my forehead lines were really starting to bother me. I was spending a fortune on serums, but nothing was fixing the underlying inflammation.

The Turning Point: > I finally decided to invest in an LED mask. Thanks to reading so many deep-dives in this sub, I knew specs mattered way more than a fancy brand name. I needed proper 630nm (Red) and 830nm (NIR) wavelengths with a high irradiance (around 30mW/cm²) to actually stimulate collagen.

What I Used: > I couldn't justify dropping $400-$500 on the big viral brands, so I bought the Novéa Paris silicone mask instead. It has the exact same clinical specs, but what really sold me was the high LED density—there are literally no dead zones, so my whole face gets even treatment.

My Routine: > 15 minutes a day, 4-5 times a week on perfectly clean, dry skin. Afterward, I just follow up with a simple hydrating serum and moisturizer.

The Results (Right Pic): > The overall inflammation is completely gone. My skin tone is so even, the texture is incredibly smooth, and my face constantly has that hydrated, plump glow now. Even my fine lines look softer.

If you're on the fence about RLT, DO IT. But remember: consistency is everything! You can't use it once a week and expect miracles. Let me know if you guys have any questions about my routine!

I just bought a body panel. If I use it at the higher wavelengths for joint pain will it also help for anti-aging and hair growth at the same time? And is okay to continue keeping said areas exposed during the high wavelengths or do I need to cover these areas as to not overdo it? Sorry I'm newbie.

Didn’t expect to look into red light therapy for skin… but here we are

I always thought red light therapy was more for injuries or recovery, but recently I started noticing people using it for skin and the results actually looked decent.
nothing crazy, just healthier looking skin overall.
now I’m kinda considering it, especially those larger panels people use at home, but I’m not sure if it’s something you actually stick with long enough to see results.
if you’ve tried it, did it end up being worth it or just one of those things you stop using after a while?

RLT for the face

Hi all,

Considering getting one of those red light masks for mothers day for myself (46F) and am looking for some advice

  1. how any lights does it need for goof coverage and what wavelengths are the best?

  2. do i need to also get some eye protective gear with it? I see one people just busy the mask so wasn't sure.

3).recommendations for masks?

Ideally something for less time would be best as I'm trying to be practical about usage. Like I'd be more likely to use something for 5-10 minutes per session multiple times a week vs a 30 minute session

I have a smaller face but I could also see my husband using it so something adjustable perhaps

Thanks for reading.

Red Light & GLP-1s?

Has anyone used red light therapy as part of their routine while losing weight with a GLP-1 (or I guess even significant weightloss naturally)? I have only just begun but I figured would be best to not wait for the loose skin to be hanging off me. Just wondered if any thinks I will see benefit using it during this time?

I only just got my first red light device and even if it doesn’t help tighten my skin I’m also looking forward to potential pain benefits. I got the bestqool wrap yesterday.

Shark Cyro mask?

What are your thoughts? it’s so hard to know if being rated no1 on NYT means anything?

Pros for me is blue and red light. possible con is that I’ve read the lights don’t really reach the under eye area. also Omnilux being soft means you can use on your neck but you need to buy a sep ble light mask.

would really appreciate your experience if you’re happy to share especially if you can compare to others.

any other recs gratefully received. I’m in Australia so don’t have access to the variety of panels etc so looking at a mask for now.

Thank you 🩷

Do the different settings really do anything

I have I think a 9 wave RLPPRO600 body panel from idea light limited and if anyone has similar models do you find the other settings really do anything? Like fat loss, sleep, joint pain etc

I kinda just use the universal setting & the pet setting on my dog

anyone actually notice changes in sleep from red light therapy

I keep seeing red light therapy mentioned in sleep discussions and I’m trying to figure out if it actually has a noticeable effect or if it’s just one of those things that gets repeated online.

My sleep is not bad overall, but I do have some trouble winding down at night. Even when I feel tired, it takes a while before I actually fall asleep.

For people who have tried red light therapy, did you notice anything real in terms of falling asleep faster or waking up feeling more rested? Or is it more of a subtle change that’s hard to notice unless you’re tracking it closely over time?

Also curious if timing matters at all (right before bed vs earlier in the evening) or if consistency is what actually makes a difference.

Would be interested in honest experiences even if the answer is that it didn’t really change anything.

Thinking about getting Solawave mask, anyone here that is using light therapy for dull skin, texture early fines lines?

I’m in that phase where my skin isn’t bad but just looks tired all the time. Im in my late 30s no major breakouts, just uneven tone, redness on my checks around nose and chin also a dull look especially in natural light. I’ve been keeping my routine super basic like cleanser, moisturizer, Spf sometimes tret but not so often because my skin doesn’t love too many actives but I feel like I’m missing something.

I started looking into light therapy because it seems like a more low effort way to support skin long term instead of constantly adding products. I keep seeing Solawave come up, because it uses red and near infrared light and sessions are short, I have seen bunch of reviews a lot of people saying that they had great results with the mask and I liked that its not just a hype.

Has anyone here used the mask consistently for a while? Ive heard that changes are very subtle but curious how subtle?

Another Idealight post - comparing 2 300MaxC's

Hi everyone. I'm looking to buy one of these Alibaba Idea Light units for my wife and for our price point and use case, the RL300Maxc seems to do the trick. I've been referring to this: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Frl300max-comparison-alibabas-shenzhen-idea-light-limited-v0-3cwb7m2epjbd1.png%3Fwidth%3D1524%26format%3Dpng%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D809da36a05000fcaae016686c77b43271db80673 and have found the single chip version with the configuration shown in the table (630*70, 660*80, 810*50, 830*50,850*50).

There is also a version with even distribution across those wavelengths (60*60*60*60*60) and just wondered what you'd all think would be the best to go for? Slightly more in the 810 and 830 ranges which is good, but at the expense of the 630 and 660.

Primary usage would be for skincare (wrinkles, scars) but also for muscle/back pain.

Thank you in advance!

Girls, what red light mask is actually worth it?

I keep going back and forth on getting a red light mask and now I feel like I have fully confused myself.

If you had the money to get a really good one, which one would you buy? But also if you were trying to be at least a little practical, which one is actually worth the price?

I would love one that does face and neck if possible. I know the big panels are probably amazing, but I have 3 little kids and need something I can wear while still doing things around the house.

Also, can someone explain red light vs LED in normal terms because I keep seeing both and I honestly do not know what I should be looking for.

Would love advice from anyone who has actually used one and felt like it made a difference.

Update: Thank you so much everyone! I ended up going with a current body one, specifically this one which you guys recommended a lot.

Alternative uses for red light therapy face mask

Has anyone tried to use their red light far mask on their hair and if so, have you noticed any change in hair growth?

Similarly, has anyone used their face red light mask for any alternative body part or alternative purpose and has any results?

I’m curious because getting red light devices for hair and body separately is SO expensive and I like the idea of a face mask because I can put it on while doing other things versus a panel I’d have to sit or lay there with it doing nothing.
