Legacy "credit"

They just tried talking me into a legacy upgrade which would "lower" my bill by 10 but then I would need to pay 20$ a month for new hardware. Explain how increasing my bill by 10$ is lowering my bill? Please make it make sense.

I would not recommend vivint. (Customer for 6 years)

A Little Sexism from the Mormons?

(Mostly a joke; our (presumably) Mormon salesman was chill.)

My husband and I had a few Vivint systems installed earlier in the month. I am happy with the installation and technology services. Hell, I’m even happy with our sales rep. He was polite, as personable as a salesman can be, and genuinely made me want to ask if he was part of the church before I even was aware Vivint is based in Utah (special interest).

Anyway. Here’s the point. Salespeople do what salespeople do. I knew there’d be some “hidden” fee or something we weren’t fully aware of when signing. The salesman didn’t do a great job explaining our obligation to Vivint versus that to Fortiva, but, tbh, we didn’t read the fine print either. We take responsibility.

What I was unaware of until now, though (because I just sat down to budget next month), was that I was given no admin access to our account. I can see our cameras but do not directly have access to our billing. The credit line is in my husband’s name, so that being the case for Fortiva makes sense. But, for me to show as an “admin” on Vivint’s app but then having zero access to billing online? That’s weird. For the technician to automatically label the house in my husband’s first and last name? That’s weird. For panic alerts to automatically go to him (until I spoke up and asked for them to come to me (I work in town; husband doesn’t))? That’s weird. My job literally just allows me to be more accessible in an emergency or to deal with billing, whatever the case. Why assume everything only goes (and should be named after) him? Call me a crazy feminist, dismantle the patriarchy, whatever – but that’s odd and frustrating. Living in a man’s world :)

⚠️ WARNING TO ALL HOMEOWNERS ⚠️

u/Vivint installed a camera security system at my home in Birmingham, AL in December 2023. It has NEVER worked properly — not one single day in 28 MONTHS.

Here's what Vivint has done about it:

✅ Sent 2 technicians — neither fixed it

✅ Canceled EVERY service appointment I scheduled over 3 weeks

✅ Missed 4 appointments in the last month ALONE

✅ Kept billing me $51.47 every month for a system that doesn't work

✅ Wasted HOURS of my time on the phone with zero resolution

✅ Now threatening me with an EARLY TERMINATION FEE for THEIR failure

I have paid over $1,441 in service fees plus 28 months of equipment loan payments through Citizens Pay — for equipment that has NEVER functioned.

I have now filed formal complaints with:

🔴 Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure

🔴 Alabama Attorney General Consumer Protection Division

🔴 Federal Trade Commission

🔴 Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

🔴 Better Business Bureau

And I am prepared to file in Shelby County Small Claims Court for the maximum $6,000.

u/Vivint — Account #A-17745879 — you have until May 14, 2026 to make this right before I walk into that courthouse.

If you are a homeowner considering Vivint, please think twice. A 60-month contract with a company that will not stand behind their equipment or their service commitments is not worth it.

Okay, I bought a home and inherited the vivint system. Everything worked, all cameras, doorbell, sensors, etc. System is paid for. So, I restarted the service and signed a 12 month monitoring plan. As soon as I connected the smart hub to wifi, all cameras go down and lose power.

I have done all the troubleshooting steps on the zinwell devices, etc. Still nothing. I call and try to get support and I am immediately put into a sales pitch and asked to do a credit check to have a tech come out.

I am so frustrated, with this sales pitch bs when I call for support. How dense do you have to be to try to convince a new home owner to run a credit check and try to rope me into a loan for new equipment?

I am about to pull all this shit down pay the early termination and go back to ring. This whole experience as a new customer has been a joke.

If reps browse this sub, do better. Your company just got hit with an FTC pay out and still the deceptive practices continue.

Long story short but long. Im on night shift this weekend and get woken right before I need to get ready to leave by a dudes voice coming from the kitchen. Apparently a sales rep been talking to my wife for about an hour about home security since we’ve had problems with arlo. Anyway I get in the kitchen and it’s pitches about how it’s better and yada yada. Wife’s eager to get onboard and what not and I didn’t have the time to do some research which is on me. We sign, he says a tech will be out sometime tonight. I head to work

Tech gets to the house and is there until 11pm. Wife’s pissed I’m pissed. From how the rep described it, it sounded like the systems itself would be mount and go and we could have things setup pretty much however we wanted In the house. We weren’t expecting drilling, cameras locations not where we wanted, main security pad or whatever to be wired in the kitchen in a high traffic spot(kids). Not only this the tech doesn’t even finish up, says he’ll be back today at 8. Doesn’t arrive till noon so now I’m messing up my sleep schedule because my wife doesn’t want to deal with it.

Tech then goes on and says he can’t install doorknob and something else but he’ll get the systems setup so we can start using it(more like paying already). System itself is slow and the ui is wasn’t kid friendly(main purpose for us)

Anyway that’s where I’m at. I’d rather just get rid of it as a whole cause this situation was completely unprofessional, scammy and pushy.

All this started yesterday at 5pm cst if that even matters at this point.

I’m an attorney investigating Vivint’s sales practices.  My client claims that he agreed to purchase Vivint’s equipment and services using only the salesperson’s tablet.  Vivint has said that this is impossible – that the financing application is the only document can be completed on the salesperson’s tablet; all other contractual documents (Esign Consent and Purchase and Services Agreement) must be reviewed and electronically signed on the customer’s device.  Just curious if anyone else viewed or signed the contractual Esign Consent and/or Purchase and Services Agreement on a Vivint salesperson’s tablet?  Or had a Vivint salesperson help them complete these documents?  Thanks!

I had my second encounter with some of your door to door sales people today. Pounding on my door for several minutes and then refused several request to shut the porch door (we have cats, we don’t open the house door while the porch door is open). I eventually said “close the f’ing door” to which he replied “or what”. This might be a good time to have a discussion with your team about some of the laws in Indiana regarding trespassing. That “or what” could have some really strong and legal responses from someone else. Also, the first time one of your sales people came to my door, his pupils were the size of dinner plates and he couldn’t stop from clinching his teeth as he talked. Real good looks for a home security company.

How much credit is too much?

I just called customer service about my services. I am not on a contract and I do not own the equipment. The rep gave me a $1,200 credit and lowered my service fee from $65 down to $35 for 5 years. Is this a good deal or am I being lied to. Whats the general concensus on vivint's retention tactics on keeping customers? Is $1,200 alot of is that bare minimum, I don't own vivint equipment so i do not know how expensive they can get.

Getting sick and tired of dealing with an app that’s ran by a five year-old. Every day there’s an issue when it comes to looking at cameras, trying to change your thermostat temperature, smh.

Covey Homes New Hampstead has been professionally and kindly requesting that Vivint stop sending representatives onto our private property since January 2025. We are a privately owned community and do not welcome solicitors.

Despite multiple emails, phone calls, and direct verbal requests to reps on-site, the solicitation continues monthly. Your representatives are bypassing our leasing office and going door-to-door to sell products that our homes are already equipped with. This is not only a violation of our property rights but is also upsetting and disruptive to our residents.

I have personally approached representatives on two separate occasions to ask them to stop and invited them to leave information at the office instead, yet these requests are ignored. We want this to STOP immediately. Consider this a final notice: if Vivint representatives are found on our property again, we will contact local law enforcement to have them trespassed.

Vivint Management: Please add Covey Homes New Hampstead to your permanent "Do Not Solicit" list immediately.

For the last 5 years, I’ve had a home security system with Vivint. It’s paid off, so I own it now. But I just sold my house and will be moving across the country. I’ll likely be renting for the next year or two and then hopefully buying a home again.

What is my best course of action? Should I just sell the equipment on eBay, or should I have a Vivint technician come disassemble it so I can hold on to it for a year or two, then have them reinstall it when I buy another house?

Wifi issues

I'm new to vivint. I had problems connecting the panel to my wifi (Cox) until I switched to 2.4ghz. Now, it works fine for a day or two but then takes my wifi down and requiring me unplug the router, wifi and eero. Works fine for a bit until it happens again. This obviously is not a reliable situation to provide security while I am out of town. I think I should just uninstall it for something else unless there's a fix. Anyone?

After buying a pretty simple security system and doorbell, our sales person had the installer come over immediately. Which I did not appreciate. He made it sound like “isn’t that great” but he didn’t even ask me and check we weren’t going out etc. I acted like “what?” But not once did he say “is that okay?” Now I see online I should have got a call to set up installation. Is this benefitting the sales person?? In the end we had to turn away the technician away because of how they wanted to install and we couldn’t figure it out on the spot, and it was literally dinner time for the kids. Poor guy! Anyway, now I’m left wondering a few things: Does the doorbell really need to go into a plug on the wall?? He was looking to run it to an outlet but the closest outlets aren’t that close and are used for other things. Can the panel be hardwired?? (We’re in GA). We were definitely under the impression it could be. But again tech saying wire will go behind wall, run along baseboard and plug in. That is going to look so crappy in my mind. Could anyone show me a picture? Thanks!

Does anyone know if Vivnt plans on updating the Amazon Skills so it is compatible with Alexa, there is currently an app, but it is not available on Alexa. This was one of thier selling points and come to find out it’s not compatible.

Saleswoman knocked on our door at 8:00pm last night, noticed we had been drinking alcohol, proceeded to claim she was just giving us a "quote," THEN proceeded with pre-approval process. THEN WITHOUT asking/notice/informed consent, a technician came into our home at 10:00pm and started setting up Vivint camera equipment until 12:00 midnight. We just worked all day, we NEED to go to bed, we have to wake up early for work in the morning. We are doctorate/graduate students and highly educated respectable people. Who the fuck conducts business AT MIDNIGHT to set up camera equipment in the middle of the night in someone's house! This is not a life-or-death situation; you can come over another day during appropriate business hours to do this and set up your equipment. I am extremely upset with how this company does business, and ambushes normal people in their homes in the middle of the night, while clearly seeing we were under the influence of alcohol in the comfort of our own home after a long day of working. We were just about to eat dinner together and then didn't even get to eat at all because of this. This is called GASLIGHTING and AMBUSHING, Get your shit out of my house immediately!! I don't care how great the product or the service is; I don't do business with people who are this inconsiderate and aggressive. If later on, after actually being able to think about it, maybe I will decide I want Vivint service; but it is my right to be able to think and process decisions, without being aggressively ambushed regardless of the time of day. This crap happened so fast and so late, that I was too tired to even wrap my head around what was happening in my house. After FINALLY being able to go to bed once they left at midnight, in the morning I was able to process what happened in my right state of mind and realized I was just aggressively taken advantage of to just make a sale. THIS IS PREDATORY BEHAVIOR, and I will make sure to warn my neighbors, family, and friends about Vivint salespeople lurking around the neighborhood in the evening hours of the night. This is what being taken advantage of, under the influence, feels like. Not that they even gave informed consent at all --> You can't give consent, under the influence, salespeople need to learn that before they take advantage of people when knocking on doors at 8-fucking-pm at night. Salespeople wonder why consumers are so rude to you, is because you all treat normal people like this!! I have learned a valuable lesson and will never allow another salesperson into my home ever again. PREDATORS!!!

Someone stole our daughters dirt bike out of our garage when our home was armed and it did not detect the person/alert us. I only found the video after going through our playback. Is there any actions we can take with Vivint or getting out of the contract? They keep saying it will be extra to send someone out or to move the cameras to a different position.
