28M -Scared of high dose (50000IU)- Need Advice

My vit D level is 20nmol/L (8ng/ml) . GP precribed 50000 IU a week. Im very scared about the potential side effect of taking such a huge dose. Already have other issues to deal with....

I went through the sub and I am thinking about taking a smaller dose daily.

10000 IU / 5000 IU

I think it would be best to start with 5000IU combined with K2. What dose K2 should I take for 5000 IU Vit D supplement?

I will also speak to my GP soon but I want to know about your opinions and experience.

How long does it take to regrow hair following a period of deficiency?

So I noticed a while back that it looked like my hair was thinning around the crown and I freaked out. I went to my doctor, he said it looked like vitamin D deficiency and the blood work showed that I was on the low side, testing at around 17 mg/nl. He prescribed me 50,000UI supplements to take once a week to correct for this which I have been doing since the end of October of last year.

I’m starting to worry because I’m not seeing any regrowth as far as I can tell. I really hope it’s not just genetic hair loss.

Has anyone else had this experience? Does it take longer than 6-7 months to see regrowth? Should I be seeing improvement at this point or does it really take a while?

Symptoms not improving after taking 60 k for 2 months. Should I change something?

My vit d levels were 14ng/ml and b12 were 195 but I barely has any symptoms of b12 only tingling in feet and that only happened 2 time at night and never again but all symptoms of vit d i have been taking vit d 60 k d3 once a week plus k2 100mcg and mg glycinate 440 and multivitamin along with a really nutrient rich diet but it's been 2 months and I don't feel much improvement. Initially I had no improvement than after 3 weeks drastic improvement for some days and then gradual improvement but now things are just ok .some day ok and bad some day . I am thinking of taking 2 60k a week.

Basically things were terrible before taking d 3 now it's bad and some days even fine . Is it normal? Should I change something?

Can anyone tell from personal experience how they felt through their recovery

When I was 14 years old I was starting to get insanely tired all the time. I did competive swimming and had to quit because of the level of fatigue. Around that time I started to get depressed and had horrible brain fog. I took a vitamin test a couple days after my spring break where I spent the whole week tanning. My levels came back at 30ng/ml and everything else was normal. The doctors said that 30 was a perfectly normal and healthy level so I ignored it. Around 4 years later the fatigue, brain fog and depression got worse and I had no idea what was wrong. I even went on a stimulate to try to fix it and I would just end up crashing harder. Over summer I was a lifeguard and would sit in the sun for 5 hours multiple times a week. I live in the hot south too! I got too college and would walk miles every day in the blazing heat and sun and my symptoms were the same. I got my blood levels checked again and my vitamin d came back 26ng/ml. Looking back I realize that is crazy for the amount of sun iv been in. Anyway I started to take 50,000iu a week and it's been around 4 months now and i feel so so much better. I have energy to workout and the ability to focus again. Iv also been way less anxious and depressed. It's crazy how doctors often look past it and brush it off like it's nothing. I'm also curious as to why I don't asorb vitamin d well. I take magnesium and calcium and have been for a while. I don't get tan or burnt easily either.

Severe deficiency and low dose prescription

Hi everyone, I’m a 32-year-old female living in Melbourne, and I recently found out my vitamin D level is severely low — it’s 12 ng/ml

My doctor prescribed 1,000 IU vitamin D twice daily (so 2,000 IU/day total). I was surprised because I’ve read a lot of posts where people with levels this low were prescribed much higher doses. I actually got a second opinion as well, and the second doctor (same clinic) recommended basically the same thing — just stick with 2,000 IU daily and repeat blood tests in about 3 months.

Both doctors said vitamin D can absorb quite quickly and that I don’t necessarily need a mega-dose approach, but I’m still feeling a bit confused because my level seems really low compared to what I’ve seen others mention online.

Has anyone else here had a vitamin D level around 12 and been treated with a relatively low daily dose instead of high weekly doses? Did it work well for you? And do you think it’s worth getting a third opinion from a different clinic or should I trust the two doctors and stop overthinking it?

Does taking Vit D really helps with anxiety?

So 3 weeks ago i tested for my vit D. I was at 5.6 ng/ml. I think I have been low on Vit D my whole adulthood. I have been anxious my whole life, brain fogged, indecisive, and depressed i guess. I thought i became dumb and blunt. Been like this since too long now so I started to believe I am like that ( Although i was really good when I was around 14-19). so being low on Vit D hindered my growth and capability to take interest in things making me mildly depressed as an adult.( That's my theory correct me if that's not possible)

Now i have started to treat my deficiencies. How much would it help my anxiety ( i would really feel good if i get rid of it).

Am i right with my theory and how better would I get ? Any other suggestions to improve will help and is appreciated

Any other person out here who felt the same, made the way through it and got better?

High vitamin D levels on blood test

Hi, everyone! I did take a blood test last week and my vitamin D result showed 153 ng/ml, which seems high compared to the reference values.

I was taking vitamin D 10K.UI with K2 mk7 for months and telmisartan.

I am now super worried. Should I be that worried? Starting to get anxious about it. Anyone was on similar situation and everything was fine?

Feeling better when doing something

Does anybody feel better when you're doing something that requires focus, or physical work, or even socialising. It's like you forget all your symptoms, but when return to doing nothing all symptoms reappear.

Also, I sometimes feel better when sleeping less than normal or when my sleep is bad. But when I have a good night sleep I feel groggy and tired and need to take a nap which doesn't make sense.

My levels are 17.6ng (44nmol) and I have GERD (acid reflux). Been feeling very fatigued in the last year and a half, having random pains in random parts of the body, having headaches and like weird sensation in my eyes (or like behind them, can't explain it). Lately I have started to have some short term memory loss (forgetting someone's name, forgetting what I meant to do, and its like I'm not sure in anything).

I'm currently taking 20000IU twice a week for a month now, and last week I started taking 4000IU, in the days between those two 20000IU with magnesium citrate.

Maybe this isn't something related to Vitamin D, if not I apologize.

Hey yall im new here,

I was wondering if anyone has had deficiency symptoms at or under 27ng/mL. I just got a test done and my results were 27ng/mL. I also have high iron? Im a 25 year old male, and for the better part of a few years I have been dealing with shortness of breath, heart pounding/palpitations, muscle twitches, trouble sleeping, fatigue, and pain in my lower back. Doctors kept telling me it was just anxiety, but im starting to think I need to supplement. How have your symptoms been, and in your experience how has supplementing helped you?

My vitamin D levels are now good.

I recently got my labs, done and decided to check my vitamin D levels. Recommend to always get those checked. It showed that it was 75 ng/mL. Very happy with these results. Taking vitamin D supplements daily does help! I did it for about a year.

The took vitamin D3 supplements. Mostly took UpNourish Liposomal D3 K2 MK-7. (You can buy it off of Amazon). The serving size on the packages is one softgel, but I took one with breakfast and one with dinner. So a total of 10,000 IU daily.

Also tried New Elements Vitamin D3 K2 10,000 IU with Magnesium Glycinate 500mg for a time (Also found on Amazon), but it had a lot less softgels.

Now, for maintenance, I take Carlyle Vitamin D3 10000 IU (Also Amazon), one softgel a day with breakfast.

I wish everyone the best on their vitamin D journey! I hope my experience helps.

Severe Vitamin D Deficiency and Facial Changes

Hello,

I went through an extremely difficult period that caused me intense stress.
I was malnourished and isolated, barely seeing daylight.

I eventually had blood tests done and was found to have a severe vitamin D deficiency (level 8).

I did not know it could get that low.

Following my doctor’s advice, I started taking 100,000 IU, then 50,000 IU every week for 2 months.

I am only at my second dose, so this is all very recent.

Here are my symptoms:

Itching
Pain
Extreme fatigue
Hair loss
Depression
A burning or hot feeling in my face
Insomnia despite being exhausted

The problem is that I do not know whether my other symptoms are related to this, which is why I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced something similar. I also have very low blood pressure.

I feel like I have physically aged several years in just a few months.
My face has changed. I have very dark circles and hollow areas under my eyes. My face looks gaunt and my features are very marked. I barely recognize myself anymore. Deep nasolabial folds, an empty look in my eyes.

The rest of my blood work was normal. My thyroid is also within the normal range.

Did any of you notice changes in your face as well?
Is it reversible?

I am in a terrible state. The fatigue is overwhelming, everything feels like climbing a mountain.

I have only started the treatment recently, so I know it is probably too early, but I am exhausted in a way that genuinely worries me. I am also taking magnesium alongside the vitamin D. I have been eating properly again for the past few months to recover from malnutrition. I am doing everything I can.

If anyone relates to this, I would really appreciate hearing your experiences or opinions.

Thank you for reading.

This is what my GP has prescribed me - I need to take it once a week for 7 weeks. I then move to a maintenance dose, which will be decided after I re-test my level.

Is this a good form of vitamin D to take?

How much K2 and magnesium should I take with this? Which food should I take this with as I heard you need to consume it with food that is high in fat?!

Anxiety from stopping vitamin D?

Like the title days, I stopped vitamin D (50mcg) and I'm wondering if there's any relation to that and anxiety.

I moved to a wintery place and everyone told me to take vitamin D, so that's what I did everyday for the last 6 months. Now that it's sunny and warmer, I haven't been taking it since the sun is out and it's one less thing for me to think about in the morning. However, I noticed my anxiety spikes maybe coinciding with the stopping of taking the vitamin. I was taking it every so often just because it's still sometimes cold and gloomy, but not consistently. Looking back, I think the anxiety spikes were around the times that I was off of vitamin D for longer. I had really bad anxiety the past few days and I also didn't take any vitamin D for the past week. I took it again yesterday and today. Maybe it's placebo at this point, but I felt so much better this morning than I did yesterday before starting taking it again.

TLDR: Am I getting anxiety from vitamin D withdrawal or something?

Potential gray hair reversal with Vitamin D

I corrected my vitamin D deficiency almost a year ago now and have started finding hairs like the one pictured where the tip is gray and it turns dark towards the root. I am about to turn 28 and have had dispersed gray hairs for a few years that you can only see when you look really closely. This seems to be a sign that some of the gray hair is reversing at least somewhat.

My doctor has prescribed 300,000 IU of vitamin D injections and has told me to take them for 3 alternate days. As in 300,000 on Monday, same on Wednesday and again on Friday

My levels are 6.7 ng/ml which I know is extremely deficient but isn't the dosage he's given way too high? Not sure if he gave the wrong amounts or if this is standard

Any advice would be great! He said to follow this up with taking a tablet once a week. Am considering ignoring the injections and just starting with the tablets

Severe deficiency but limited prescription from doctors

So two months ago I (26F) started experiencing severe muscle twitches and left sided abdominal pain/ache, I had a blood test which showed a vitamin D level of <10 nmol/L (4 ng/mL).

I was given 6 weeks prescription of 50,000 IU vitamin D3 to take once a week, they were small oil capsules I took with food.

I’ve since finished them, my stomach ache has since come back and so has my muscle twitches. I’ve seen on here some people be dosed for longer than me, on the same amount, for a higher nmol/ng reading.

Is my prescription low for my results? Did I need longer?

Thank you for reading + I am going back to the gp in a few weeks, just looking for some advice :)

Figured out it was vitamin d all along. How long will brain fog last?

Started working nights last year and this winter I started to get some pretty wild symptoms, first was anxiety. When I tried to sleep then muscle tingling and weakness in my arms, then finally I started to get some really weird brain fog and just felt totally disconnected. I chopped it up to the cold at first and working nights in the subartic. but when the brain fog and dizzyness set in got concerned I started vitamin d 2 weeks before I went to the doctor I was pretty scared because my mom was diagnosed with a nerve immunie disease and was thinking that but came back with real low vitamin d. 3 weeks in and most symptoms besides the brain fog which is thankfully improving now gone. Anyone know how long to expect this brain fog dizzyness to last? Its definitely improved but makes working a bit more difficult.

I recently had a blood test (6ng/ml). I guess that's severe? The doctor prescribed 25000IU weekly. I've been going to the gym for ages and barely put on muscle. Never understood why. Is it plausibly related to my deficiency? Because I feel like this deficiency can explain everything, but it doesn't mean that it explains everything in my case.

I've been experiencing chronic telogen effluvium since I got covid 3 years ago but noticed that I'm going through another big hair shed a few weeks after starting vitamin D. The only other thing I also introduced is pumpkin seed oil but that's supposed to help with hair growth. Could introducing it cause more shedding or has anyone experienced this?

edit: I'm taking around 2700-3000 iu of Vitamin D from two different brands daily. The first is Jamieson brand D3 2000 IU and the other is Seeking Health D3 and K2 (MK-4) drops in olive oil 500 IU per drop. Been doing this for almost 3 weeks now.
