Severe Vitamin D Deficiency and Facial Changes
Hello,
I went through an extremely difficult period that caused me intense stress.
I was malnourished and isolated, barely seeing daylight.
I eventually had blood tests done and was found to have a severe vitamin D deficiency (level 8).
I did not know it could get that low.
Following my doctor’s advice, I started taking 100,000 IU, then 50,000 IU every week for 2 months.
I am only at my second dose, so this is all very recent.
Here are my symptoms:
Itching
Pain
Extreme fatigue
Hair loss
Depression
A burning or hot feeling in my face
Insomnia despite being exhausted
The problem is that I do not know whether my other symptoms are related to this, which is why I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced something similar. I also have very low blood pressure.
I feel like I have physically aged several years in just a few months.
My face has changed. I have very dark circles and hollow areas under my eyes. My face looks gaunt and my features are very marked. I barely recognize myself anymore. Deep nasolabial folds, an empty look in my eyes.
The rest of my blood work was normal. My thyroid is also within the normal range.
Did any of you notice changes in your face as well?
Is it reversible?
I am in a terrible state. The fatigue is overwhelming, everything feels like climbing a mountain.
I have only started the treatment recently, so I know it is probably too early, but I am exhausted in a way that genuinely worries me. I am also taking magnesium alongside the vitamin D. I have been eating properly again for the past few months to recover from malnutrition. I am doing everything I can.
If anyone relates to this, I would really appreciate hearing your experiences or opinions.
Thank you for reading.
