We finished our dream home gym!

We’ve had our Tonal for about 5 years now and finally created an amazing space around it. My husband did almost all of the work to put it together but I will take credit for the design - ok fine he had some suggestions on the lighting lol. To celebrate our new beautiful gym,I started the 12W to Unleash program haha 💪🏻I’m in week 4 and loving it so far. I love our new gym so much! We use it everyday!

"Keep Shoulders Down"

Nearly every time I do an exercise on Tonal that involves me lifting the handles up over my head, I get a coaching cue telling me to keep my shoulders down. I don't understand how to correct whatever I am doing wrong. When I compare what I am doing to the coaches, it looks like the same.

How do you lift your hand straight up over your shoulders until the arms are extended, without the shoulders also going up? Is this just nonsense coaching advice? Anyone else running into this?

Anyone else having multiple installation cancellations? RXO

We have had five delivery/installation appointments canceled. I have spoke with Tonal each time and they ensure they are escalating and marking my delivery as “VIP”. We get a new installation date and either the day of delivery or the day before we get a call from RXO stating delivery and installation has to be rescheduled.

Again this has happened five times over the past week and a half. Tonal has offered to refund half the delivery fee and supposedly when it does get installed they are saying they will compensate with free membership month.

I have asked to speak with someone other than the first customer service agent as I believe this has reached a point of needing more intervention on their behalf and they insist a supervisor will call back.

Figured I would ask if anyone else was having similar issues.

A true recomp. Thank you Tonal

First one is about 2 years ago. Second is 14 months ago when I got my first Tonal. Third is most recent.

Pictures 2 and 3 are the exact same scale weight. One at 23% body fat, the other at 14%. Both DEXA confirmed. Not estimated. Not eyeballed. Scanned.

The scale didn’t move. My body completely changed. That’s what a real recomp looks like :)

Consistency and hard work obviously. But Tonal made the consistency happen. Big difference.

Just getting started :)

How do I really compare?

So, as you can see by the pics I’ve been pretty plateaued for the last six months or more. I’m 58 and suffer from fibromyalgia which means my big joints especially my hips and knees are often painful so legs are the hardest things for me to work hard but I still try.

I have a 178 week streak (never missed a week since I got my Tonal, over 3.5M lbs lifted and just shy of 500 workouts.

According to Tonal I’m ’stronger’ than about 3/4 of the men on the platform but I find that hard to understand. Interested to hear from others who might be somewhat similar to me how they’re doing.

Aero twists and knees

I'm not sure if anyone has a solution to the Aero twist and knee strain or it's just me having my Tonal in my home gym that has a rubber floor. My feet just don't pivot smoothly so I wind up torquing my knees. I love working in the Aero movements in to my routine but the twist is killing me. I'm ready to try my bowling shoes or maybe wear my dress shoes ha :) I need something that doesn't stick me in place with the twisting movement.

Hit 1500 strength score today!

I know realistically the strength score probably doesn’t mean much. However, knowing I started at a 668 and in less than a year I have achieved 1500 and lifted 5.5 million in volume, it makes me feel good. When I initially bought my Tonal two, I was just in the beginning of my strength training journey. I looked at its max capacities and thought I would never hit them. Now less than a year later, I’m maxing out some of the exercises. To me that’s unbelievable. This is a lifestyle. I never thought I would be into, and it’s still difficult every single day, but I don’t see myself giving up anytime soon.

How have you broken a plateau?

4M lbs lifted since I started 16 months ago. I’ve gotten frustrated that I haven’t been able to really increase weight the last 1-2 months and I’m taking the last 1-2 sets to failure and other sets within 2ish reps of failure.

Anyone else make a change that helped you break through?

Finally broke 2000!

It’s been a little over a year since getting the Tonal 1 but it feels like I’ve been chasing 2k forever. I’m now over-repping on max on the major moves but I feel like I have a long way to go still to balance out my upper and lower body. I also need to recommit to form instead peak weight for a while in order to make sure I can stay uninjured as I eventually make the push for 2500+.

More importantly, I was recently called “ripped” an “a unit” by my daughter’s middle school classmates when I chaperoned a field trip. Took me almost 30 years but I finally redeemed my scrawny 13 year old inner adolescent. 😂

For context, I’m 41/M, 6’0”, 195lbs, ~8% body fat. Cycle on and off creatine, low dose TRT and other supplements. Heavy protein, low carb diet.

What does your 1 hour in the gym mean to you?

For me, it’s more than just a workout.

It’s where I disconnect from everything, push my limits, and reset my mind.

That one hour hits different 💪

12 weeks to unleash UNLEASHED!

That's a wrap! 12 weeks, 48 workouts, 968k pounds, Strength score from 1261-1344.

Just Prior to 12 weeks to Unleash, I did 12 Weeks to Jacked, so that means I just spent the last 6 months with Joe lifting about 2M pounds. Fortunately, I did a DEXA in October, so I have a real data comparison of a world pre-Joe and post-Joe world. Here are the numbers:

  • Body weight largely flat: 226lbs -> 224lbs
  • Body fat: 17.6% -> 14.4% (surprising re-comp here)
  • Lean Mass: 179.3 -> 183.5
  • Fat-Free weight: 188.1 -> 192

I feel much stronger after these past 6 months. I gained 4 pounds of muscle and lost 6 pounds of fat. Not a bad re-comp!

I'm going to start one of Tony Horton's programs now, and then jump right back into another couple 12-week runs. Giddyup!

Recommend Programs for New User

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone in this community for your reviews and thoughts on Tonal — it contributed to my wife and I deciding to get one! Should be delivered in a couple weeks and I’m wondering which programs you veterans recommend for someone who has been working out for a few years and would consider themselves at the intermediate experience level. I see a lot of great reviews on 12weeks to jacked/unleashed but don’t want to jump into something prematurely if my time would be better spent building up to that. What would be some good choices for the first 2, 3, 4 programs?

Thank you!

SG

Really light weights this AM

I’m a regular user. I noticed today’s workout chose REALLY weaksauce loads. episode 12 of four week fast track touched level 2)

Like for the standing lift in pic it picked 14lb. My PR is 30, so 14 was really weak.

Almost all the weights felt this way. Just too light.

In this case would you just manually override the suggestion? Or is this an intentional choice from tonal to make the day’s program more of a recovery or something and I should embrace the suggested weights?

Or do I need to recalibrate the “starting weights” section of my profile that I filled out when I started a year ago?

Thanks!

Wide mount cover question on fit

Hello, I just had my tonal installed and it’s awesome!

They did have to use the bracket u fortunately because the studs was freaking 17”

I just purchased the cover which isn’t in stock yet, but I’m

Supposed to put acoustic paneling around the tonal tomorrow.

My question is if I but the paneling almost directly to the bracket will I be safe when it comes in fit wise? Not sure how thick the brackets are and how they attach

Thanks!

Tonal Summer Sale + veteran discount?

Hey all looking for some input here.

I ordered a Tonal 2 recently (4/14) using the $500 verified veteran discount. Shortly after, the Summer Sale dropped ($750 off), so I reached out to support and they gave me a $250 adjustment.

While looking through the sales terms, I saw this section:

> “Offer may not be combined with any other promotion, discount, coupon, or referral program, except that between May 1, 2026 and May 31, 2026, customers who are successfully verified through VerifyPass as eligible Heroes may combine this offer with the 4-Year Extended Warranty offer. Eligible Heroes are limited to: Active Duty Military, Veterans, and Retirees…”

That’s where I’m a bit confused does this mean the veteran discount can stack with the Summer Sale, or is the exception only referring to getting the 4-year warranty included?

I purchased the 5-year extended warranty but would switch if I could get the 4-year included under the promotion.

Here’s the full terms page:

https://tonal.com/pages/summer-sale-terms

At this point I’m debating canceling and reordering under the sale starting May 1st, but my unit is already at the local distribution center and I’d rather not delay delivery if I don’t have to.

Has anyone:

Had experience with a similar promotion structure?

Canceled and reordered, did it delay delivery?

Appreciate any insight or experiences.
