Swiggy charged 100% cancellation fee even though I cancelled within 1 minute

Hi everyone,

I’m a student and I recently faced an issue with Swiggy that honestly feels very unfair, and I wanted to check if others have experienced the same. On April 21 around 4:33 PM, a food order was placed from my account by mistake (a minor in my family used my phone without permission). As soon as I noticed it, I immediately went to cancel it through Swiggy support chat—this was within about 1–2 minutes of placing the order. However, the chat response was slow, and by the time the cancellation went through, I was charged 100% cancellation fee. What’s frustrating is: I tried cancelling almost instantly I even called the delivery partner and he hadn’t reached the restaurant yet So as far as I know, no food preparation or wastage had started I contacted support again, and they asked me to email my grievance, but I’m not sure if anything will come out of it.

Has anyone here faced something similar?

Did you manage to get a refund or at least a coupon?

Any tips on how to escalate this properly?

Would really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks 🙏

Terrific experience at Instamart today.

So aaj amazing hi ho gya .

I ordered some items from Instamart . In my items there is ice cream( blackcurrant ) .

The Swiggy store called me and asked that the available black currant is kinda melting , And it's not worth delivering so I told them to send me any other alternative worth that price z so the guy asked yeah tell me which one he was giving me options and told me I don't have to worry about the price it will be settled so amongst other options I chose DARK CHOCOLATE , which was my fav. So I got that expensive ice cream for cheap.

Then I got my order in 6 minutes around but turns out the another item was missing then the delivery partner was worrying that he would have to go back and the delivery time will be extended so I offered to tell him to mark the order delivery and then he can come back and deliver my order . I will trust him .

He went back and came back in half an hour around and I got a bigger size of the item i ordered which was left.

What more a girl could ask for? .

First time horrendous experience with Swiggy: Donated about 800/- bucks to Swiggy and Burger King

Last weekend I placed an order from the Burger King outlet from the outlet MG road in Bangalore. Firstly the food was delivered over an hour late. What usually is a 20-25 min delivery was now delivered after 1.5 hours of placing the order. And no, it was not so crowded because it was a Saturday afternoon.

Anyway, the food came cold, soggy and the fries were essentially oil with a tad bit of potato.

The bread in the burgers was crumbly, not sure if it was because the bread was bad or the delivery time has an impact. But nope, I was so hungry but eating it felt like self hate.

And the best part of it? I had ordered two meals and one of them, the restaurant had provided SODA water. I kid you not, it was simple soda water. Was it the restaurant who chose to scam us or the delivery agent, no idea. Somehow the soda was more fizzy than the coke :)

But the best part about it? The so called Swiggy resolution!

  1. There was no option for a live connect with an agent to resolve this issue then and there.

  2. Had to drop a mail so they can conveniently choose to respond 24-48 hours later. And ofcourse they replied 48 hours later.

  3. The response? "While the image shared is not clear for us to share constructive feedback to the restaurant so that they can take corrective measures, we'll share generic feedback about your discomfort with the issue."

Generic feedback? Are you kidding me?

Don't these people have the data of the delay in delivery? Don't they have common sense that what should've taken 20 mins, gets delivered an hour later, it's not the same quality?

I have made a conscious decision to close my Swiggy account after this. While it's one thing that I literally took my money and donated it to Swiggy and Burger King, what sucked the most is their nonchalant and basic ass response. BESCOM bots on X do a better job than them and I thought they were the worst (Bangaloreans know this!)

While I understand that they can't blindly trust my review, it's basic decency to call and reach out to the customer after such a serious accusation. Yet, the cowards that they are chose this email route because now they're a greedy corporation and not the hardworking and transparent start-up they once were. Honestly I'm so disappointed. Ruined my Catan evening ugh.

Convenience Fee fraud by Swiggy

I had a Swiggy dineout experience where Swiggy Increased the Convenience fee after I applied card offer to exactly match the card offer. Be careful of the offers they show vs what they charge.

After checking with customer care, they said they have no idea how much convenience fee gets charged, no way to check it. No way to verify it. No way to tell slabs, no rule to recalculate. No refund policy. So basically nothing.

Initial Convenience fee: ~110rs + GST

Card offer: 400rs off applied

New convenience fee: 400 + GST

I ended up with 0 benefit of card discount.

Restaurant: Waterfront, Radisson Blu, Ranchi

Total bill Amount: 8732

Swiggy pulled an uno reverse on my refund.

Had a really frustrating experience with Swiggy and wanted to check if this is normal.

I had a ₹5000 gift card, and for this order I paid the remaining ₹107 via UPI.

After waiting a long time, the delivery partner called saying the item is not available and asked me to cancel. Before I could even do anything, the order got auto cancelled on its own.

Now the issue:

I only got ₹107 refunded (UPI part). The gift card value used is not returned at all.

I’ve been raising this repeatedly with support, but it honestly feels like talking to a bot:

They keep treating the gift card like a discount coupon

I clearly said only ₹107 was refunded, not the full amount

They said it’s escalated, asked me to wait

Then came back saying refund already processed: ₹107, even shared a reference number

Like… what?

That’s the same partial refund I already had.

So basically I’m raising an issue about missing refund, and they respond by confirming the same incomplete refund as if it’s resolved.

If the item wasn’t delivered, how is it okay to not return the gift card value?

Genuine question:

If this was a ₹20k gift card, and the item wasn’t available, would they just keep the whole amount?

Has anyone else faced this or knows how to escalate this properly?

Swiggy COD orders don’t have cancellation option??

I recently ordered from Swiggy and placed the order for Cash on Delivery. Realised I had ordered wrong immediately as soon as order was placed and wanted to cancel it. Bvgg

Although all this happened right within a minute, Swiggy support refused to cancel the order saying “Since the restaurant has already started preparing your order…”. I wanted to cancel my order and raised multiple support chats to cancel it within 2-3 minutes or placing the order, but got rejected by the chatbot itself without any option to connect to a real agent.

What is one even supposed to do in such a scenario?? Can I not at all cancel my order if I opt for COD???

Swiggy Fraud Model of Making Money

If swiggy is completely delivery based model then what is the point of pricing them without delivery charges.

If the prices are already inflated then what is the point of having extra charge for delivery.

If we are already paying extra in swiggy then in real life then why to pay convenience fee.

I really want to go back to the old era of going out and have lunch or dinner

What is Swiggy doing? 🫥 Customer support needs support too?

Just got off a call with Swiggy support and it turned into something I didn’t expect.

The person on the other end sounded completely broken and mentioned delayed salaries and lack of support from their own system. What stood out even more, the increasing use of AI chatbots is slowing things down and frustrating customers, and it’s the human executives who end up absorbing all that heat.

Not sure how much of this sits with Swiggy vs third-party vendors, but if even a fraction is true, there’s something seriously off in how these systems are being run.

We talk a lot about customer experience, but barely about the people who are holding it together on the other side.

More or less the same thing as the title. They could have checked with the restaurant prior and informed the same. I would have ordered from somewhere else.

this is pathetic after a long day at work and you don't get to eat after paying for your food. Swiggy, I gotta cancel my Swiggy one subscription.

The weirdest Swiggy experience

Swiggy has a Mokobara product listed on their platform which you can add to your cart but can’t place an order. Not because of any stock issue, but because they can’t deliver it on a bike. If you can’t deliver it then why do you have it in your inventory and listing? 😂😂

No Refund and Horrifyingly Customer Services

So I ordered from subway and got this old fuck….Reported the manner in the app and also the customer support services..Got 44rs coupon for an order…Talked to 3-4 customer desupport for more than 20 -30 mins no good response from their side…No higher official was there to even talk for 20-30 mins…Like wtf is wrong with Swiggy…Never going to order now from this app now..One person in the customer support service even told to review online as nothing can be done from his side..If nothing can happen why are you employed…

Anyone else seeing these?

I have noticed something and wanted to see if others have experienced this too. A couple of months ago, I received a handwritten note with my food delivery asking me to give a 5 star rating along with a small emotional message. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but recently I ordered food for my girlfriend in a completely different city from a different restaurant, and she received almost the exact same kind of note. At this point, it feels like a trend where restaurants are using these personal notes to encourage better ratings. Has anyone else come across this?

Why would a Swiggy delivery partner wait 1 hour at a railway station instead of taking more orders?

I ordered food on Swiggy for delivery to my train at a station. I placed the order assuming the app would track the train delay and adjust timing, but my train got delayed badly and I’m still around 90 km away.

The delivery partner has already reached the station and told me he may wait around an hour for my train to arrive.

I’m genuinely curious about the economics of this job:

- Wouldn’t waiting one hour reduce his chances of hitting incentives?

- Is completing one train delivery worth more than multiple local orders?

- Do cancellations hurt delivery partners more than lost time?

- Do apps compensate riders for waiting time in cases like this?

If anyone works with Swiggy/Zomato or knows how these incentives work, I’d love to understand why waiting would make sense financially.

Not complaining about the rider at all — just trying to understand how the system works.

never had to give OTP when ordered from swiggy

Hi, i just ordered from swiggy and the delivery guy came and was being nice and funny

after two mins or so he called me and said he forgot to ask for otp and that i should tell him on call, i hesitated because if he called just 2 mins later he could've come to the door and asked so i disconnected.

My messages were being flooded by the same otp from EatClub on whatsapp, he called exactly 6 times and then switched numbers and started calling from there

now i dont know if im right but it felt like a scam because he gave up and marked my order as delivered, i feel bad if it wasnt a scam, and i dont know how to contact swiggy since there isnt any queries tickets related to this

SOUTH EXPRESS, Bangalore- Ordered some Podi rice and rasagulla to received frozen rice that was seasoned with burnt mustard, lentil and chillies. Absolutely no flavor but that of burnt stuff. Couldn’t even take one bite. To top that, the rasagulla was stale. Complained to customer care only to know that refund of 30rs can be given that too in form of a coupon. Ruined my day

Got charged above MRP on Swiggy Instamart… and support admitted it was their “catalog error.”

Ordered Amul Masti Dahi. Charged price: ₹42 Printed MRP on product received: ₹35

I contacted support with photos immediately.

What followed:

  • ~50 minutes of back-and-forth
  • repeated scripted apologies
  • no straight answer initially
  • finally they admitted in chat it was a catalog error from their side
  • offered ₹7 refund

Honestly, ₹7 isn’t the issue.

The issue is:

  1. How many customers were charged wrong due to this listing?
  2. Will they automatically refund everyone affected?
  3. Why does it take nearly an hour to resolve something obvious with proof?

If a packaged item has printed MRP ₹35, how is ₹42 being charged in the app?

Has anyone else faced overcharging / wrong pricing on Instamart, Blinkit, Zepto etc?

I’m considering filing a consumer complaint—not for ₹7, but for pricing transparency and accountability.

Would you escalate this or let it go?
