Acoustic treatment advice for home vocal recording room (with balcony opening)
Hey everyone,
I’m setting up a home recording studio and I’d really appreciate some advice on acoustic treatment.
Gear I’m planning to buy:
- Lewitt LCT 440 PURE
- Audient iD4 MKII
- Arturia KeyLab Essential 49 MK3
- PreSonus Eris 4.5BT 2nd Gen
- Considering acoustic foam: t.akustik SA-N30 set
Room details:
- Length: 4.10 m
- Width: 3.25 m
- There’s a wardrobe along one wall (about 52 cm deep)
- One side of the room opens into a balcony area (4.10 m x 1.36 m) through a wall opening
- There is a desk built into the lower half of that wall opening
- The balcony has a lot of windows
- The room also has a bed and mostly hard reflective surfaces
My questions:
Is a foam set like SA-N30 enough, or should I go for thicker panels / bass traps?
Where should I position myself in the room for recording?
How should I treat:
- front wall
- back wall
- side walls
- window / balcony area
Will the balcony opening and all the windows cause acoustic problems?
What acoustic treatment would you use?
I’m trying to get the best possible sound without wasting money on unnecessary treatment.
Any advice would really help. Thanks!
