Looking for a modern alternative to Sonoma RiffWorks — record bar by bar with drums playing

Back in the day I used RiffWorks and it was perfect for how I like to work. You’d set a tempo, the drums would kick in, and you’d record one bar at a time. When the bar ended it would mute, loop back, and you’d record the next one. Then you could just arrange all the bars together into a full song. Super simple, plug in and play.

I’ve been trying to find something that works the same way. I don’t need anything fancy — I just want to:

∙	Plug my guitar straight in

∙	Have a drum track running

∙	Record a bar, it stops/mutes, moves to the next

∙	Arrange the bars into a song at the end

I’d be mainly playing hard rock and metal so decent sounding drum samples in that style would be a big plus.

I’ve looked at Ableton Live’s Session View and it seems like it could work but the setup looks a bit involved. Has anyone nailed this exact workflow in Ableton or found something simpler?

Open to free or paid options, Windows or Mac. Just want something I can actually sit down and use without spending an hour setting it up every time.
