Continue to lose fish-video this time!

I posted a few days ago about losing about a fish a day for the past week. The problem continued, despite my best efforts. My kids are crushed-I’m hoping someone here can guide me (I’m new to this) on what to try next.

Tank is a 75g freshwater, properly cycled (fishless). Water parameters continue to look good and stable. Have a Fluval 407 and I increased surface agitation because I was worried about oxygen (the angelfish like to stay at the top, but nothing else does). Tank temp is a stable 77.5 degrees.

Tank was stocked with angelfish, Cory and upside down catfish, neon tetras, Congo tetras, emperor tetras, and ram cichlids.

Losses have been across species, except the neon tetras and ram cichlids remain healthy. I lost my first angelfish this morning (my kids’ favorite fish!).

I had suspected aggression previously, but I think that’s less likely given losses across species. Now I’m wondering if there is some undiagnosed issue with the water, or some disease?

Does anyone see anything alarming in the attached video that can give me some direction?

Thanks,
Bill

My aquarium

80L/planted/6yo. The tank was the last gift my dad gave me before passing away; the hobby I inherited from him; he taught me everything I know, starting with how to love your fishies.
I just wanted to share :) (I like that it looks “wild and natural”, not extremely trimmed).

Is this tank too small and overstocked for my opaline gourami?

This is a 20 gallon bow front tank. It has an ac20 with purigen and a small sponge filter. Also running c02 and a small power head to add a light current for the white clouds and panda garra. I keep the tank around 78-80 degrees. The ph is around 6.3, ammonia nitrites nitrates always zero.

I have:
10 white clouds
6 otos
5 kuhli loaches
Some shrimp and pest snails
A queen arabesque L260 pleco
A panda garra
Two small German rams

This tank has been very low maintenance so far, and the only sickness or problems I’ve had is with German blue rams from bad stock. I plan to get larger tanks when I move to a bigger space, but that won’t be for about another year. Is this tank ok/humane for my gourami for that time period? Thanks

I’ve had this tank setup for a couple days, has now had a betta in there for about 72 hours. Not doing a fish-in cycle by choice! Not my first method at all ( it’s a longgg story will explain if someone really wants to hear it.) I just want peoples best advice. Not necessarily new to the fish keeping world but not EXTREMELY knowledgeable.

The tank is planted. Has fluval stratum then aqua natural bio substrate said to have live bacteria to help kick the nitrogen cycle. I also have a beneficial bacteria pouch, driftwood and leaf to release tannins. API quick start, obviously water conditioner/stress treatment. I have some seachem products on hand in case as well. Temp is around 78
It’s a 6 gallon tank with a hang on the back filter. Would like to change it to a sponge once tank is cycled because the filters where bacteria is living.

So far I’ve had no ammonia spikes but wondering if I will even be able to see one due to all the bacteria I’ve added when setting up and the live plants.
Hardness, kh, and ph are all fine.
Nitites nitrates and ammonia are all still 0ppm. Do you think this tank will cycle faster considering the things I have added? Obviously all tanks don’t have a specific amount of time.

Any good advice is greatly appreciated and your personal experiences cycling tanks well with fish or no fish welcome too.

Does anyone notice if something is off with my Kuhli loaches? I have read a lot about how to tell if they are stressed/sick and I’ve seen with the shape of them as well as color fading can indicate something’s wrong. But I genuinely cannot tell if they look more pale or not or skinny since I haven’t seen them before owning them myself so it’s hard to compare. I am new to fish keeping and LOVE my guys sm I just want to make sure they look healthy

Started a 6 gallon cube, maybe a month ago, it was a bit before Easter I believe. It doesn't have a filter bc I wanted to try Walstaad and bc im broke but it has a heater and proper lighting.

Water parameters rn:

Nitrate 0-5 ppm

Nitrite 0-.25 ppm

Ammonia ~0 ppm

pH ~7.6

It's currently stocked with bladder snails (hitchhiked) and two assasin snails. There's a good amount of micro fauna and a whole bunch of detritus worms but I only ever see them on my floaters and driftwood. Also Roberto the Ramshorn but I have no clue where he came from.

Today marks 14 days of my first tank, I love how it looks! It’s about mid/late cycle currently nitrites still need to go down but ammonia is 0🥳 the only algae that I’ve come across is a day or two ago I started getting brown dot diatom on glass. (Tank is crystal clear just some Co2 bubbles flowing around)

Setup:

30 gallon tank

Oase Biomaster thermo 250

15 lbs fluval stratum/ 8 lbs bio stratum capped in UNS Mojave extra fine

Pressurized co2 6.5 hrs day

Hygger programmable full spectrum light. 60% 6 hours a day(upgrading to week aqua light)

Very light doses so far of thrive+ fertilizer

Used seachem stability first 7 days

Purigen and filter floss in filter

50/50 RO and tap mix

First Cichlid Tank

Hi everyone! I have been researching now for a few weeks about cichlid tanks and I feel as I need some specific advice because some places say one thing and others say another. I know that’s how the world works, but I figured this would work better to ask the ‘experts’.

I have a few thriving community tanks and I think I want to build my first cichlid tank. I like some of the Africans, some of the SA/CA; but I think I like more of the Africans better. From what I’ve seen, I like the Yellow labs, johanni, demasoni, acei, and then I like the EBA, and some peacocks, convicts, Bolivian rams, Dempsey, blue Hap, etc. Kinda confused with peacocks, are there both African and SA/CA peacocks? I saw some beautiful orange peacocks at my LFS. I have a spare 55g that fits perfectly in my entryway of my home but I may upgrade to a 75 or 90 in the future. I have the cycle starting with media from my community tank. I am not going to rush this one. I have Aragonite sand in there. I am going to make sure my cycle is 100% complete along with temps and pH and everything before even considering getting anything. Best way to introduce, etc?

Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I added a male/female pair of Honey Gouramis to my community tank about a week ago, and I’m a bit worried about their dynamics.

The male is frequently charging and chasing the female around the tank. Luckily, my tank is heavily planted, so she has plenty of dense vegetation and hiding spots to break the line of sight and get away from him. When she hides, he usually drops the chase.

For those of you with Honey Gourami experience:

Is this normal territorial/breeding behavior during the first week or two while they settle into a new environment?

Will this aggression eventually calm down, or should I be seriously worried about her long-term stress and safety?

They both still come out to eat, but I want to make sure I don't need to separate them before things get worse. Any advice is much appreciated!

Now I don’t really know how to correctly cycle this tank, I’m thinking of putting 6-8 black neon tetras and 6 amano shrimp. It’s a 20 gallon long since it was the only 20 gallon tank that could fit in the desk. I’m using a fluval 207 set to half flow with a spray bar facing a little up towards the back glass to lessen the current. I added an Amazon sword, some Anubia Barteri and some HC Cuba which looks rough since it was in a mesh before I took it out. Any advice on what I can do next?

New Tank Qubic 60 Pro

Your opinion? I decided to downgrade from a 80cm tank due to less space in my current living sitch. I found a lot of information on here before purchasing this, so thanks 🖤

Hey, I’ve had some algae issues in the past couple months and I could really use some advice.
I got a 7.5 gallon tank 3/4 months ago, I tried to get a good amount of plants in the beginning (and I keep buying more every month because the ones I buy just get completely destroyed by algae) but I still have a lot of algae I’m just not able to get rid of. At first I thought it was normal as the tank was new but now I’m starting to get worried because it just seems to get worse. I’m doing 25% water changes once a week, the tank doesn’t get any direct sunlight and my light is on 8 hours a day. Im planning on getting new fast growing plants again to try and fight the algae but I don’t know if it’ll be enough to get rid of it.
I currently have a single betta fish living in the tank.
Im new to the hobby so Im really trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong, and I’d be more than happy if more experienced hobbyists could give me some advice on how to solve this issue !
