Hi everyone,
I added a male/female pair of Honey Gouramis to my community tank about a week ago, and I’m a bit worried about their dynamics.
The male is frequently charging and chasing the female around the tank. Luckily, my tank is heavily planted, so she has plenty of dense vegetation and hiding spots to break the line of sight and get away from him. When she hides, he usually drops the chase.
For those of you with Honey Gourami experience:
Is this normal territorial/breeding behavior during the first week or two while they settle into a new environment?
Will this aggression eventually calm down, or should I be seriously worried about her long-term stress and safety?
They both still come out to eat, but I want to make sure I don't need to separate them before things get worse. Any advice is much appreciated!
