Lamb of God - Laid to Rest cover

Here's another one... really focusing on trying to staying locked in. I think this one came out a bit better timing wise. Been looking up many different ways to practice keeping time and learning to "play in the pocket". I've got a lot of work ahead of me...

I also think I'm torturing myself trying to do covers all in one take... I gotta bite the bullet and admit i'm just not there yet. Will probably switch to 2 camera angles just so I can record the audio in seperate takes for the future... take some of the pressure off lol.

Again, GGD Modern and Massive 2 VST in Reaper. Metal Mayhem preset.

Anyways... thx for watching and all the feedback!

Audio help

This may be a bit out of the edrum context.. but any help is appreciated.. I have no idea what I’m doing.

I have a TD-17 and it’s been great to get back into drumming. I’ve started playing in our worship band and my wife loves to sing. She’s expressed interest in singing when I practice at home. I use an app connected to td-17 via Bluetooth to play the songs and I can mute the voice, drums, etc which is really fun to remove the drums and play along.

What I want.. is to figure out a way to have two different headphones for each of us and we would both hear the drums, the track from the Bluetooth input and her voice.

I dont need to control the volume of each track separately just the master volume in each headset can be separate. I blast my end and my wife’s ears can’t handle it haha.

I think there would also be a requirement to maybe eventually be able to get this into some computer software for us to record in the future.

I have no hardware other than the td17 and my PC. I would buy a mic and love to use it both for pc gaming and when my wife sings. Assuming it would be XLR and I would need some interface between the PC and mic/drumset..

Was looking at the Scarlett audio interfaces but I’m not sure.. isn’t the td-17 itself an audio interface already?

The Dear Hunter "GIANTS"

Not sure if there are many The Dear Hunter fans, but thought I'd share a short clip of a mini drum cover I recorded yesterday on eKit.

This is "Giants" from their latest album SUNYA. Super fun to play along to.

If anyone's interested, a few more drum covers are on my instagram www.instagram.com/fff.drums

Recs for PA speaker or amp for edrums?

Hi all,

I’m new to e-drums (Alesis drums) and looking for an amp or powered PA speaker to use for my e-drums. I’ve read that it‘s better to use powered PA speaker instead of an amp for this purpose, what do you think? Do you have any recommendations for which one to get?
thanks!

Larger kick for Alesis strike pro

Hey all, the kick drum/tower on the strike is pretty wobbly. Anyone have experience with using a different brand as a replacement? Lemon? Hawk? Other?

Gigging hybrid for the first time

So I've played my acoustic kit and been told it's too loud. I've played my ekit and missed the dynamics of my snare and cymbals. So, how about the best of both worlds?

I've got an acoustic kick, snare, hi hat, ride, splash and crash, then added my Erae2 midi controller with eight layouts:

  1. My full SD3 ekit (kick, snare, three toms, closed HH, open HH, ride, crash, China, cowbell and tambourine)

  2. SD3 Octobans, rototoms, bongos and a kick with metal rattlers

  3. A C Major keygrid connected to a Chromaphone3 synth keys

  4. A single Chromaphone3 Future Tam pad

  5. A single Chromaphone3 Drum from a Lost Tribe pad

  6. SD3 percussion: bongos, shaker, key rattle, tambourine and some clanky thing

  7. A single Chromaphone3 East Asian Low Drum pad

  8. SD3 toms: high, mid, low racks and two floor toms

I'm just going to try stuff and see what works.

Anyone else play hybrid?

Alesis Nitro Ultimate, Gear4Music DD700 or Donner DED-300Pro

My son's been having drum lessons for years, and needs a decent home practice kit. My knowledge was zero a couple of hours ago, but I'm looking at kits with mesh heads, sturdy looking racks, and hi-hat stands. Ride zones and everything else I'm totally lost on. In your opinion, which of these is the better buy? Which is better to play? And resell?

Alesis Nitro Ultimate £750 if I buy the basic hi-hat stand

Gear4Music DD700 £650

Donner DED-300Pro £745

Used Roland or Alesis for kids starter kit?

I want to get an edrum kit for my kids (7 & 5) to use, and occasionally myself!

Budget around £350 for something second hand. Should I go for Alesis Nitro / Turbo or Roland TD? Any models specifically?

I don’t want the module to be overly complicated (something the kids can easily navigate without getting lost in menus) but perhaps something that offers a few more sounds that just 1 standard kit.

Any advice / recommendations?

any recommended sets for a beginner??

Most lot of them had complaints that some things were a bit low for people as tall as 5'9, (im 6'1) and everything being too low is definitely something i think i should be concerned about

I'm almost completely new to drumming, and i wanted to get an electrical kit for my first one, and i would definitely prefer it stay below 1000 dollars
I know the question has probably been asked hundreds of times but everywhere i look, none of them seem that great/too small, toy like.

Tips for soundproofing my room

Any idea how to minimize the impact noise on my edrums? My neighbor on upper level seems bothered on the sound of impacts of my kit. I have mesh heads and rubber cymbals. Planning to treat my room acoustically.

Mappa Burl Wrap on Roland VAD516

Recently got myself a Roland VAD516 (last pic). Very nice kit, but I’ve never really been a fan of the black sparkle finish. I’m more of a wood grain guy, so after a quick search I found Walopus Drum Wraps. Joe was super helpful and hooked me up with an awesome Mappa Burl wrap to try out on my 10” tom.

Putting on the wrap was pretty straightforward for a first attempt at rewrapping. I didn’t have to remove the black sparkle, and so I can always revert back to it when it comes time to sell.

I’ve included a picture of it with my Ludwigs so you can compare the wrap to real wood.

What do you think? Should I proceed with rewrapping the entire kit? I’d need to buy gloss natural hoops too.

edrums for 10yr old starting drum lessons

Hi!

As a good dad i got my son into rock music and now he wants to learn the drums 😎

I don't have too much space so an edrum-kit would be the best. Can you recommend me anything?

- What should i pay attention to? What should the drums come with?

- What brands are good?

- Which models?

- Is there a wide variety, or are there a few very common edrum-kits?

And Bonus Question: If he really likes it and stays drumming for longer, is the normal thing to upgrade or buy a complete new drum kit?

Thanks for helping out!

Making VH11 HiHat work with Alesis kit like OEM.

For the 4 people who would actually want this :)

If you have a Alesis Command or similar kit that uses continuous 90Kohm hihat pedal(only has open, closed, and splash), you can mod a $50 eBay VH11 to work like OEM.

You can remove the 90k pot strip from your old pedal.

Then flip it around and glue it to the back of the VH11 pot/strip.

You will have to VERY CAREFULLY trim a little so the plunger won't hit it. You can then just plug it right into the VH11 1/4 jack.

I just left the old strips cable like in the picture. It doesn't hit anything.

Then you can mount it to a HiHat stand/pedal.

VAD506 for 2.2k used, or TD516 new/used.(3.7k, 3.3k)

I'm really torn right now. Planning to meet up with someone on Saturday to check out their VAD507. The kick is a little torn up but he says it triggers great. So if true, would just need new mesh. I had been planning on buying a td516 this week. How much am I missing out if I get the vad507 when it comes to the triggers and modules abilities. I know sound wise it's a big step up. But can't I download sound packs? I figured if I really want to, I can sell the td27 module for around 1k, and buy the v51 for 1.8k. That puts me at right around 3k for all of it, still less than the 3.8k or 3.3k for td518.

Is there enough of a difference in the cymbal and hardwear to justify buying the td516 new. Or is this a a crazy good deal, and im way over thinking it? The nuance of play is important to me. I have mainly played on electric my whole life. I do like the feel of full acoustic but I have a acoustic kit. So I am indifferent about that. I do typically prefer racked drums more, but its not a deal breaker. Help!

Thankyou <3

Struggling to decide!

Hi!

I have been playing the drums as a hobby since I was a teenager. Due to moving reasons, I had to sell my drum set and haven’t played for about 4 years.

Now I am in a more “friendly” area, and want to go back to it. I want to buy an e-drum set as it is “less noisy” if I use headsets.

I am struggling to decide between the Alesis Strata Core Bundle kit (with Hihat stand and bass drum pedal) and the Yamaha DTX6K5-M. Both are within my budget (up to $2.4K).

I’ve seen some people struggling with the durability of the Alesis cymbals and setting up the “cross- sensitivity” between pads/cymbals. However, I’ve also read that the sound quality is better than the Yamaha and that the Yamaha Cymbals are quite outdated (but durable).

Any thoughts or suggestions?
