Just wanted to confirm the hack is still working as previously.

Purchased the flight on 4 May using the Amex travel portal and flagging to use my $450 travel credit. (Flight Melb to Adel return was $456).

Received an email about 5 minutes later confirming the flight.

Logged out of the Amex portal, logged back in again.

In Manage my Bookings, opened the flight and then selected cancel.

Went through the prompts and finalised the cancellation.

Immediately received an email saying your flight cancellation has been processed.

$450 credit was applied to my account today – 6 May.

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to credit card churning and just looking for some guidance.
I’ll be honest — I think I made a few mistakes early on and didn’t fully understand how approvals work, so I’m trying to be a bit smarter now.
My history so far:
First card: Amex Explorer (no annual fee version)
Second: Amex Platinum Rewards (just finished and closing soon) (claimed 60,000 velocity points)
Applied for Westpac Rewards Platinum about 3 months ago → declined
What I think I did wrong:
I was only working part-time at the time (low income)
Had a pretty high total credit limit (~$20k with ANZ)
What’s changed now:
Full-time job, ~$62k salary
Reduced my credit limit down to $6k
No missed payments or anything negative on my file except for the rejected application with westpac
So I’m trying to reset and do things properly this time instead of just applying randomly.
What I’m unsure about:
Should I try applying for Westpac again now that my situation is better?
Or go for something like St George instead?
Is 3 months too soon after a decline?
I’ve read that they’re kind of in the same group, so not sure if a decline from one affects the other.
Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve been in a similar position starting out. Just trying to avoid making the same mistakes again.

Has anyone realised recently AMEX revised their singing up bonus? I noticed the amex velocity platinum card is now only 50k bonus points and I'm pretty sure it was higher before ~around 60-70k. Likewise their business card offering 200k velocity bonus points has reduced to 150k. Do you guys think its because of the mastercard surcharge fee thats decreasing interchange fees for bank? whats everyone thoughts of the future for bonus sign up points, will we get more cashback rewards instead? (shit imo)

Hi, has anyone changed their existing credit card with CBA to another card type (keep existing limit) and did it trigger a hard credit enquiry?

I have the Smart Awards card but want to change to a no monthly fee credit card, as I'm not spending enough to get the monthly fee waived.

CBA chat have been vague saying it may or may not trigger a credit enquiry, and that at the point of application it also won't tell you if it will trigger the credit enquiry.

I remember when you could get closer to 250k points on this card. Now it’s sitting around 200k with the same annual fee, and the credits feel a bit more restrictive to actually use in practice

Looking at the 130k + $250 offer. T&Cs say you need to keep the card for 12 months for the full bonus, but is that just for the extra 30k or do they actually claw back the initial points if you cancel once they hit? Anyone done this recently?

I’ve tried Frollo and excel. None of them feel quite right for what I actually want, which is basically:
• A clear view of what I owe across all my cards right now
• Visibility into what points/rewards I’m earning and where I’m leaving value on the table
• A heads up before an annual fee hits or a benefit expires
Frollo is useful but it’s a full budgeting tools. I just want card clarity, not a whole financial overhaul. The bank apps only show their own products. The spreadsheet requires me to actually update it (lol).
Is there something I’m missing? Or is everyone just making one of these work somehow?

I was going to write a positive post about how my application had a quick 5 day turnaround with me receiving calls from 2 Australian-based workers.

But while I was on the phone to the person who was looking over my application, I received an email saying it had been approved.

She said it was sent in error and to wait 1-2 days for them to call.

However, I activated the card and used it for a purchase which worked.

Weird, right?

Returning to the churn

Hey,

Use to churn quite frequently up to 2020/21, and then we all know what happened... and I got lazy.

Me and the wife both have QFF and velocity. Did lean towards QFF in the past.

Anyways, I have a bill to pay for before the end of May 2026 approx $4500.

Then in August I will have 2 x property rates bills to pay - approx $3200 each.

Was thinking of signing up for the amex card x2 (me and wife) for the property rates bills and use an appropriate payment service to ensure point earning T&Cs.

Which card would be best for the May 2026 bill?

I have been lurking here and some are saying that AMEX is looking for the hit and run card churners and that it should be the first card to start the churn with.

Credit history is excellent, HHI of $400K+ no other debts except for the $10K CC we have with CBA.

Hello everyone, I’m just looking for some advice or opinions on potentially opening a fourth credit card to earn Qantas bonus points.

Background:

Primary Card: Amex Qantas Ultimate ($5k limit)

Work/Overseas Card: CBA Ultimate Awards ($7k limit)

Newest Card: ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum ($6k limit)

I earn a $75k annual salary and have an excellent credit rating according to my recent Equifax report. I’ve consistently paid off my balances every fortnight since I started using credit cards in 2021. I still live with my parents, so I have no rent or mortgage expenses.

I’m looking to open a new NAB credit card for the bonus points and a reduced first-year fee. Realistically, given my situation, am I likely to be approved? I have an offer to apply within the NAB app, but I’m wondering if they’ve already accessed my credit report or if this offer is shown to all customers. I can’t close the ANZ card yet because I’m going on a holiday soon and need to use the complimentary insurance.

I’ve used my Amex at the same Bunnings for three years and today it suddenly came up as card type not supported, is this just a one off or are more merchants starting to push back against the higher earn rate cards?

First Credit Card, looking for advice

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice. For context,

  • Earn around 80k (not including super)
  • Spend around $200 a week on groceries, exercise/entertainment
  • Travel once a year
  • No debt other than HECS
  • Relatively disciplined with finances

I'm currently weighing up between the following three options

  1. Qantas Money Platnium (80k + 40k points, $349 fee)
  2. NAB Qantas Rewards Signature (100k +30k points, $420 fee with $250 cashback)
  3. ANZ Frequent Flyer Black (90k +40k, $425 with $200 cashback)

I'm leaning towards the Qantas Money Platnium but have seen a lot of negative csomments and posts about it. I also see a lot of people suggesting AMEX, however I've excluded from the list as they've recently reduced their sign on to 50k points.

My questions are

  • What options would you recommend?
  • Is it even worth staying the whole year for the 30 or 40k bonus?
  • Is there anything about credit cards I should know?

TIA

I saw they have a $200 gift card offer if you’re approved by May 26. It’s not points, but for a zero-fee card (if you manage it right), it feels like an easy $200 for a few minutes of admin.

Buy now pay later?

Hi,

I got approved for a card that I’m going to churn.
Waiting for it to come in the mail.

Found a flight that I want to book, direct on an airlines website.
Is there some way I can get the seat and pay for it in a weeks time?
It’s at a good price and I don’t want to miss it
Would flight Centre or something facilitate this?

Thank you

I’m after some guidance! Got a call from Amex asking about specific transactions and how much business expenses I put through. I was a bit vague as I had no idea where it was going, but ending up being asked for 3 month payslip, and bank statements from the account used to pay Amex. What are the typical outcomes of heavy business use on a personal card?

AMEX product upgrade

I was wondering if I upgraded from my AMEX premium card to the AMEX ultimate card, would that damage my credit score? I did read saying it wasn't as it's not a hard enquiry but not sure if that's true. Could anyone confirm?

Rewards flights to Iceland

Hey all

Has anyone figured out the optimal way to get to Iceland on rewards?

I have been looking but there doesn't seem to be many (if any) good options, have checked Qantas, Virgin and Singapore air.

Am departing from Bris which could be my issue.

Anyone found any strategies?

Thanks all

NAB + Westpac old customer number

Hi all,

Has anyone had issues with applying for nab and Westpac where you've held a card with them before. When I try to progress the application it asks to log in with previous Customer reference number as it recognises I've had an account with them before. However, it's impossible to log in or even reset password etc

Anyone found a way around this?
