Removing dishwasher drain hose tubing (confused why my dishwasher is filling with water and leaking)

Hi all, I’ve been having some problems where water is backing up into my dishwasher and I have no idea why.

My only thought is that it potentially could be the drain hose tubing, because I checked the hot water intake line and it seems fine

I’m very confused though because there are currently holes in the drain hose tubing (second pic) that i recently discovered.. which is inside my cabinet.. but no water is present in the cabinet. However, my dishwasher has water in it after manually washing dishes in the sink, and also has water underneath it. I also noticed that water was taking a long time to drain when using my sink.. but really had no idea what’s going on.. because I would think that if water was back flowing through the drain hose tubing it would be present in the cabinet as well due to the holes??

My main concern is the drain hose tubing is attached to my garbage disposal.. am I able to remove this tubing and plug it?

Thank you!!!

Has my 1990 Kenmore washer finally bit the dust?

Has my 1990 Kenmore washer finally bit the dust?

Something’s really wrong when the drum gets super hot while the machine is trying to fill. It’s been hiccuping for a while, do I dare call for service on this antique?

GE front load washer not fully spinning in Normal mode…

Saw a similar post on her so figured I’d give this a shot. I live in a small area and the only appliance repair available I can’t even see an appointment yet. This is a GE GFW650SSN0WW purchased brand new in late 2020. All has worked well since. A few weeks back we started having our loads still soaking wet after a normal load wash. It’s draining fine, I’ve already cleaned out the drain plug area, and there’s no excess water left in the bin aside from the soaked clothes.

I then decided to give the smart app a try, connected both the washer and dryer to it and updated the firmware, all of this hoping it would magically tell me an error. Well that didn’t happen. During further research I discovered the diagnostic mode, and went through all of the troubleshooting steps with it and finished with a normal reset of the washer, both with unplugging and by holding the appropriate button while plugged in.

The diagnostic spin got up to full speed so no issues with the motor. Everything drained fine, and all other tests I did completed without fail. Washing a load in another mode, such as Towels has spun and drained just fine. But when washing in normal, it’s been about a 25% success rate that it will spin the load properly and we don’t have to do an extra spin cycle. I’m at a loss on what else to try except keep doing loads on a mode that works and adjust as needed, until I can schedule a repairman to come out and do something stupid easy for a high price.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Still usable?

Hi!! I have a stupid ass family member who ive asked multiple times not to wash their muddy shoes in my washing machine, today she washed them again anyway and this time found a rock stuck in the inside of the drum. Its a smaller crack, but i fear it will spread as it spins + i fear there's tiny rocks under the drum causing more damage. I dont remember if I have a warranty on it, ive only had it for a year and I dont think it would matter as we aren't supposed to wash rocks. Is this a big issue that needs repairs? Or could this washer continue to live a happy life? main fear is the crack spreading

LG Fridge - Water down to trickle, even after new filter change

I have had to change filters every 2-3 months for years now. Some times OEM LG, sometimes high-rated ones from Amazon. Waterflow after change would be around 21 secs for 20 oz, but within two months was >1m. Now it's literally 3 days to >1M (currently 90 secs.)

Troubleshooting:

  1. Inserted filter bypass, water pressure seems fine, indicating no build-up or clogs in line, and no frozen lines. Emptied and disabled ice production just in case.

  2. Ran vinegar through system, just for fun.

  3. The SPOF seems to be the filter itself, which I suppose could be clogged by crappy water (though water tests have come back fine), but that's the only part of the system that I'm aware of that I can't easily fix (other than changing the filter.)

At this point I'm out of answers, and feel like a pro is needed, as I'm not going to replace the whole filter housing (despite finding great videos on it) for what could be a waste.

Any guesses before I suck it up and call a pro?

GE Dishwasher stops mid cycle - NOT a pressure sensor issue

I've got a GE GDF510PSM0SS. It stops after roughly 15-20 minutes, with every light on the control panel flashing. This model does not have the traditional pressure sensor that commonly gets clogged.

In diagnostic mode, it does not show any error codes, all LEDs stay lit continuously. I ran the tests in service mode, and everything seems to be working fine. I can only find information regarding tests 1-5, but my dishwasher also has modes 6 and 7. Not sure what they do though.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Question: Can you work as an appliance repair tech with osteoporosis?

For the people that work in this industry, is it possible to work in this trade if you have a disability like osteoporosis or arthritis in spine and hips?

Just asking because I was thinking of getting into this but I don't know how physically demanding it is and maybe some of you could let me know.

Samsung Washer not Draining

Hoping someone here will have some insight/advice. Our 2 year old Samsung front loading washing machine has broken down 3 times in the past 5 months. Each time the error code has been a drain issue. We replaced the drain pump ourselves the first time and it was fine for about 2 months and then the same problem happened. We had a technician come out and they also replaced the drain pump and again, it was working fine for 6 weeks but just stopped working today. It can’t possibly be that the drain pump needs to be replaced again-3 times in less than 6 months is absurd. At this point we are just going to buy a new washer but could it be that there is a problem with the house plumbing? We live in a new build that’s 2.5 years old. I don’t want this to happen again if we do buy a new machine

Electrolux washing machine during spin cycle (only two items of clothing inside). How does this sound?

Washing machine clicking squealing during spin

My Maytag washing machine model MVWX655DW1 makes loud clicking sounds occasionally during spin. Sometimes, but not every time I get a loud squealing sound for a second or so, once during a spin.

I took the splutch out thinking that may be the cause, but it seems ok. There was quite a bit of black and about a 2” black “string” in the belt cover. I thought it might be dust from the belt, but after reading online it seems like it might be the transmission.

Anyone have these sounds? Is this a transmission problem?

Spilled liquid in gas oven

Spilled liquid in gas oven

Today I was baking a ham in a disposable aluminum baking pan in my natural gas oven. I took the ham out to check temp, then as I was putting it back in, the ham slid, buckled the side, and some of the liquid in the pan (water with a bit of juice) spilled out into the bottom of my oven. It sizzled for a couple of minutes but the flames appeared to stay on normally. However, when I went back shortly after, I could only see flames on one side of the oven. That’s how it continued to run while the ham finished baking.

What do I do now? Is the pilot out? Does it just need to dry out? Is there any possibility of gas leaking from the oven?

It is a Whirlpool but I can’t find the model number for it. It has electric controls (see pic).

How can I reattach this pump?

Hey all thanks for reading.

I have been in the process of fixing this washing machine, and I needed to remove the pump from the sump assembly. Problem was it was attached with pex rings.

My crimping tool is too small to reattach the large ring (1 1/2 inch pipe, bigger with rubber fitting) and too small to fit in the area to crimp the small ring (~1 inch pipe, also bigger with rubber fitting).

If any of you know how I can reattach this pump, either with a way I can tighten the rings or with another method of fastening, I would greatly appreciate to hear it.

Thanks again for reading.

Tutorials

Hello good friens of the internet,

I wanted to start how to learn how to fix and repair electronic appliances; household (coffee machines, vacuums) and such.

Are there good and free resources out there that could help me get good since I have 0 technical knowledge at the moment? Youtube, Forusm, Google etc.

I had found a course on fixing electronic appliances nearby and it costs €100 for 1 evening but I am not sure it will cover everything and it’s far away…
