My Maytag washing machine model MVWX655DW1 makes loud clicking sounds occasionally during spin. Sometimes, but not every time I get a loud squealing sound for a second or so, once during a spin.

I took the splutch out thinking that may be the cause, but it seems ok. There was quite a bit of black and about a 2” black “string” in the belt cover. I thought it might be dust from the belt, but after reading online it seems like it might be the transmission.

Anyone have these sounds? Is this a transmission problem?
