Reputation of UOB for being druggy - true or not?

I'm in year 12 and I'm considering UOB to go to after year 13. Lots of people I talk with about Bristol tell me that it's really druggy and that the university doesn't do much in terms of taking care of their students. I wanted to know if that's true, coming from people who actually go there?

Is lunch during not part of the catering at UOB?

Idk if I'm being dense or not. But on the Bristol website they only mentioned breakfast and dinner times for the weekday, does this mean they dont provide lunch? Am i paying only for breakfast and dinner?

How easy is it to transfer courses once the academic year starts?

I've got an offer for Engineering Mathematics, but I'm wondering if I would be able to transfer to the Mechanical Engineering course once I get to Bristol. Is that relatively easy to do or is it very luck-based? What would the process be like?

I've already asked to change my course through the application portal which was unsuccessful, presumably because they've reached capacity on the course, but I'm hoping that there'll be more places once the course actually starts.

Would really appreciate a suggestion. I am from Nepal and the fees is not the issue. The thing that matter to me is Course's Reputation and City Life.

Think Big Scholarships

Has anyone heard back about the Think Big scholarships yet? (Or know historically what day theyve been anounced?)

I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for disappointment 😂

Hey guys,

I just got rejected from LSE after months of waiting (still processing it a bit 😅). I’ve got offers from Bristol, Edinburgh and Warwick, and I’m currently leaning towards Bristol for law.

One thing I’m thinking about is that my boyfriend will most likely be studying in London, so I was wondering how feasible it actually is to travel between Bristol and London regularly?

For anyone doing law at Bristol (or just studying there):

  • how manageable is the workload?
  • do people realistically go to London on weekends/semi-regularly?
  • is the train journey something you’d actually do often or does it get draining/expensive?
  • do you get reading weeks?
  • and are overnight guests allowed in student accommodation (e.g. can my boyfriend stay over)?

Would really appreciate any honest insight.. thank you!

I have received an economics offer from Bristol. It is my only offer.

I'm not sure I want to go, as the graduate prospects are not great as far as I'm aware (particularly in high finance roles which I might consider), and living costs are very high. I don't think the benefits outweigh costs here.

Can any students or graduates, particularly in economics comment on the job prospects? Apologies for any disrespect to Bristol lol

Any mature students studying medicine?

Does anyone study medicine at Bristol but didnt go through the normal A level route?
I didnt do the correct A levels for medicine and now I am looking at an access to HE course to then study medicine. Only certain universities accept this diploma and I see Bristol is one of them.
I would be 22 years old when I start my first year at university, would this make me very much an outsider or does it not matter?
How is it being in a flat with other first years, or maybe did you go to a private accom instead?
I would love to hear about this experience from any aspect, social or academic/professional. Thank you!

I have offers for Bristol (film and television), Sheffield Hallam (film and tv production) and Worcester (filmmaking).

Could anyone doing any of these courses share their experience?

I’m looking for a mainly practical course.
Bristol was my top choice but the course looks like it’s mainly theory and I can’t find many reviews for it and couldn’t go to an open day.

Just not sure if I should go for the higher ranking ‘prestigious’ uni but potentially be doing a course I’m not happy with, or a lower ranking uni but the course is more what I’m after.

Any advice is appreciated please 🙏

Hey I was just wondering if anyone had ever been flagged for AI and what the process is following that?
I have OCD and I’m constantly fixating on getting flagged for AI use in my essays even tho I only use it for baseline structuring help in my work.
Can anyone give me a run down on what you have to prove/ what the process is if this happens? Thanks!

I will be studying law at Bristol after the summer and am a international student. I don’t want to be far from the law department but also want to be in a social area. I am worried it might be hard making friends as an international student so want the odds to be on my side. I do also enjoy partying and go out most weekends. I also don’t want the living place to be too shabby, as a lot of them are and not a lot more than 1000£ a month maybe? Do you have recommendations for places/what to write in my application to have a higher chance of getting what i want? Further, do any international students have experience with getting a job in Bristol? Is it hard, and will it be challenging alongside the law programme?

Hello

My son is firming Bristol and is keen on halls like manor Hall but would not want to share a room. With a budget of £ 7-8k my worry is being allocated a twin room. Has anyone had any experience of getting a twin even if they asked for single? Any tips to help avoid this issue? Any help or advice is appreciated.

Been studying Economics at this Uni for a year now, and keep wondering how I ended up here, a top 10 University. I got AAC for A-Levels and did awful in my GCSE's, with a range of 3-8, only achieved one 8 though ( for french), about five 7's, and some 4/5/6s.

I would say I was a pretty average student, so bit confused..

Hi all, I’m getting conflicting information when I inquire about this on Google. I’m a U.S. citizen studying abroad at University of Bristol in Spring 2027 (only one semester). Am I allowed to work for pay, legally? Even if it’s only up to 20 hours a week?

I’m trying to pick accommodation and would really appreciate some advice. Here are my preferences:

Less than a 10-minute walk to campus

Self-catered

Ensuite bathroom or shared bathroom with only one other person

Clean, modern, and relatively new accommodation

For context, I’ll be studying law and I’m an international student, so I’d prefer somewhere that’s easy to settle into and well-managed.

If anyone has recommendations or experiences with specific accommodations that fit this, I’d really appreciate it. Also open to hearing if any of these criteria are unrealistic or if there’s anything I should prioritise differently.
