Hi all, I’m getting conflicting information when I inquire about this on Google. I’m a U.S. citizen studying abroad at University of Bristol in Spring 2027 (only one semester). Am I allowed to work for pay, legally? Even if it’s only up to 20 hours a week?

I have a trip booked for Okinawa May 29th-31st. I’m landing on Friday (the 29th) at 5:25pm, and departing the following Sunday at 7:45pm. I’m a 19 year old female (American) and unfortunately do not speak Japanese. I’ll be studying abroad in Japan this summer, so I might find some people to come along with me, but as of now it’s a solo trip. Where are the best places to stay? Should I do a hostel or hotel? I just want somewhere reliable, safe, and central— as I won’t have a car.
I appreciate any suggestions. Also, if there’s anything that’s a MUST-SEE, let me know. I definitely want to scuba dive/snorkel, but I’m just hoping the weather holds up… I know May can be rainy.
