Hi! I’ve firmed Bristol for law and I’m considering private accommodation for first year instead of uni halls.

I was wondering how much this affects the social side of things. For people at Bristol who lived in private accom in first year, did you find it harder to meet people and make friends? Or are places like Unite/Student Roost still quite social (common rooms, events, etc.)?

I’m a bit worried about missing out on the “hall experience”, so I’d love to hear honest experiences—whether you felt isolated or if it didn’t make much difference.

Thanks :)

I’d really appreciate any experiences or advice- especially whether you felt isolated or if it didn’t make much difference.

Hey guys,

I just got rejected from LSE after months of waiting (still processing it a bit 😅). I’ve got offers from Bristol, Edinburgh and Warwick, and I’m currently leaning towards Bristol for law.

One thing I’m thinking about is that my boyfriend will most likely be studying in London, so I was wondering how feasible it actually is to travel between Bristol and London regularly?

For anyone doing law at Bristol (or just studying there):

  • how manageable is the workload?
  • do people realistically go to London on weekends/semi-regularly?
  • is the train journey something you’d actually do often or does it get draining/expensive?
  • do you get reading weeks?
  • and are overnight guests allowed in student accommodation (e.g. can my boyfriend stay over)?

Would really appreciate any honest insight.. thank you!
