Asked to give up reformer during class

The other day I was on a waitlist for a class. I went to the studio and checked-in. 2 minutes before class got a text I was added and front desk told me to go in. In the middle of the third center-core exercise (unsure if it was 5 mins or not!) someone comes in the room and is looking for a reformer. Goes to the coach and the coach looks around and asks on the mic if someone isn't registered for the class. Eventually the front desk comes in and says to the coach 'oh it's [insert my name]' then they both come over and ask me to get off the reformer (I'm in the middle of an elevated v-up!). Very confused I got off the machine and left. I ended up taking a class later that day but am still uneasy about it and felt embarrassed at the time (everyone thought I was a free loader!)

I absolutely understand that mistakes happen. But it seems a bit unsafe and impractical to remove someone from the machine. My studio does not have a HCCM and I am not looking for like a freebie (I'm an unlimited member). It seemed unsafe, disruptive, and kind of weird?

I also love my studio, coach, and front desk so I hope I won't upset anyone by posting this. Am I wrong to be upset by this? What if any recourse makes sense.

Anthony Festa posted

I ran here after seeing his latest video, which reeks of entitlement and an almost scary lack of self-awareness. This community is weirdly divided on him….personally will never understand how so many of y’all are defending this obnoxious narcissist who looks like he’s never once returned his grocery cart in his life. Grip socks or barefoot?

So I haven't taken any classes in a few years and my first time back is this coming weekend. Back then grip socks were pretty uncommon at my studio and most people were barefoot. Has that changed at all in recent years? I ordered some grip socks just in case barefoot has become a faux pas. I'm in Chicago, if that means anything.

My final straw

I’ve been on the committed 12x/month plan for about 18 months and got this email today. It’s only an extra $10ish a month but with everything this company has been doing to nickel and dime their clients recently, I have to draw the line somewhere. It’s been fun while it lasted!

Why are people coming to class very sick?!

The way I picked up my stuff and skrrted to the opposite end of class when a girl who was loudly phlemy coughing, nose full of snot, and def has a cold …picked the machine beside me! I quietly picked up my shit and busted it over 8 machines to get away from the illness!

Ok or am I crazy and being too much of a tight ass on this??

Newbies do not be afraid of taking a Signature class

I am a regular Lagree enthusiast and have recently switched to SC. I took a Starter and two Focus classes nervous about jumoing right in even though other members here told me I'd be fine. I'm in Philly for the week and took a class last night with Coach Meg in Northern Liberties and she was awesome. I told her after the class it was my first Signature and she said she never would have guessed. Aside from the lights being down, the music being louder and more talking I didn't think it was wildly different. When I wasn't sure about a set up I just looked.

I think most people could jump in and go. I wish I did 😄

Quick edit: I did a Leg wrap yesterday which was outer glutes and back. I actually really loved how much it felt like strength training. I was sore as hell this morning 😄

Soreness

Is it normal to no longer feel sore after classes? My first few classes took me out for a few days. Now, not so much. Am I not pushing myself enough or is this my body/ muscles adjusting? My next class will be my 25th for reference

Why?? The Price Increase

Someone explain to me why Solidcore is doing this? This company has basically zero overhead (rent aside). Why are they squeezing and pushing their prices so insanely high… the only explanation is greed and shareholder profit. They have to pay off the private equity investors and they are asking their customer to do it for them. I’ve been going for 12 years and I’m done. I’ve said this on other threads in this group but this is just an evil company I can’t support anymore. There has to be a point where people just say no more.

Okay, so I know I’m not at the top, but I want to know who is! Who has the longest streak and who has the most classes recorded?? Here’s mine. Post yours below. I’m based in NYC.

Solidcore pricing -- when is enough, enough?

Probably going to get downvoted for this, but genuinely curious what folks think.

I've seen a lot of frustration lately about Solidcore raising prices. But for me, it's still by far the most discounted option in the market...

First, solidcore should be cheaper: their model is super lean (you clean your own machine, the front desk is barely staffed, no showers, no fuel bar). That's a lot of overhead they're not paying for.

At the same time, I'm in the bay area and I picked up a 6-month 10-pack last year that works out to about $210/month, or $21 a class. Meanwhile:

  • SoulCycle: ~$33/class on 8/month
  • Barry's: ~$30/class on a 10-pack

Even with the recent increases, Solidcore still feels like one of the more affordable boutique options to me. Am I missing something about these other studios? Otherwise I genuinely do think that some of the benefits of Solidcore's operating model does benefit customers via lower pricing...

Parting ways as a coach in training

Hey guys. I wanted to get some advice about quitting becoming a coach. I’ve been training to become a coach I believe for about 2 months now, and I just had my final evaluation this last Saturday. I got the news that I didn’t pass, but I can retry again. But the thing is, I don’t want to. I’ve been through all the trainings and made great connections with amazing clients and the other coaches, but these past few weeks, I’ve come to find out that this is not the role for me.

Do I email them now saying I’m done? Do I stick with it for a little while longer? I genuinely feel terrible that I wasted my HCCM’s, TM’s, and AM’s time trying to find a new coach (me and one other person). Any advice would be amazing…

First- I am 5'2 and weight 290lbs. I feel complete shame snd embarrassment in my body. It has been worse lately when I realize that after going to orangetheory 5 times a week for the last 14months I've had almost no change in my body. My a1c even jumped way up. (I've been working with a dietician on my nutrition. My body is stubborn it seems.). So I am trying new things to see if I need a different style of exercise (dietician and MD suggest maybe the HIIT of OTF is not right for me).

So....to the point of this post. A couple weeks ago I decided to try out solidcore. Idk why, was curious i guess since I see so many tikoks about it. My first class I felt so unsafe doing lunges and my shame and embarrassment triggered a fight or flight response. I panicked and walked out of class crying. Then felt ashamed for leaving and hating my body even more. Its been a mental struggle.

Today I finally went back to try again. Same coach as before. I struggled every second. I wanted to leave during the crossback lunges but I figured out how to feel safe. I did maybe 3 reps on each side. But I finished the class. I took breaks every 3-5 reps through the whole class. But I FINISHED! I am going back Monday.

I am going decrease orangetheory to twice a week and sign up for an 8 classes a month solidcore.

Thanks for reading this dribble internet strangers. I have no one to talk about this with.

Bringing friend to a Focus50 for her first class??

My friend wants to try [solidcore] with me, but the only class that works between our busy schedules is a Focus50 (lol). She does reformer pilates consistently. Would this be absolutely insane for me to bring her to? To add context, I’ve taken 30+ classes.

Hi everyone, I love chest day and I'm a dude.

Have almost 150 classes and numerous times I've heard female coaches and fellow co-sufferers express their dislike about chest day. Usually those comments are paired with admiration for anything glutes day.

I understand the glutes part (I also want a nice butt!) but why the dislike for chest days?

Rejoining Solidcore post baby

Hi!! Was a solidcore enthusiast in my past life (pre baby) and absolutely LOVED the classes. I found when I was in my best shape (5x week hiit or solidcore) I still struggled in the classes, good kind of struggle but was intense.

Now that I am completely out of shape, post baby, haven’t worked out seriously in 2.5 years… I’m thinking to rejoin solidcore but have some reservations about if I can handle it.

Anyone have experience going back post baby/ long break of losing yourself?

I also used solidcore for not necessarily fat loss but just more refinement and strength. I’m at a point where I realllly need to drop weight and that is one goal working out- can solidcore help with weight-loss?

Quitting Solidcore - how to maintain core strength

I’ve been doing CorePower yoga and Solidcore for over a year and the recent price hike is making me face the reality of the ridiculousness of what I’m spending. I have a really hard time pushing myself on my own and am a total slut for classes but I can’t keep justifying the hundreds of dollars I’m spending. My abs are stronger and nicer than they’ve ever been and I’ll miss them dearly if I can’t find a way to maintain them on my own/with videos.
For those of you planning to quit or who have already quit, what’s your strategy for maintaining?
