5/16/2026: Moved adopt today: He is very sweet. He has a wiggly body anytime I greet him or walk past. He leashed well and walked on a semi loose leash for an adopter. He plays with his enrichment and has been quite since moving over to South.

5/15/2026: very vocal in kennel after coming back inside

5/19/2026: Bruce painted in his kennel overnight, pacing back and forth at front of kennel as I came to leash him up. He began jumping up on kennel door as I attempted to leash him up. I tried tossing treats to distract him but this time did not distract his attention. I quickly leashed and he came out of kennel jumping on me. I was able to redirect with my treats. Once we got outside to the runs he walked wiggly following the treat trail. As I tried to walk him into the run as I tried to unleash he tried to bolt out of kennel. I was able to stop him with the leash still on but still tried bolting out multiple times. As I walked away he began jumping up crying in high pitch as I walked away. Once I walked back to kennel and placed him in kennel he seemed more relax.

5/18/2026: Bruce painted in kennel after feeding even though I spot cleaned kennel offer. As I approached he was nonstop jumping up and panting heavily. I tried to use treats to distract him in order to leash him up but did not work. Leashed him up and he walked out but began jumping up at me several times. I tossed down treats to distract. He followed the treats then, once in the run he was high pitched barking, crying and whining along with nonstop jumping up. As I tried to leash he tried to dart out. Once leashed I walked back to kennel using treats to prevent. Once placed in kennel he began behaving the same way.

5/17/2026: Bruce painted in kennel after feeding. Very wiggly and jumpy on kennel door and walls. I was able to leash and use my treats to redirect. Walked wiggly to the runs and remained wiggly while outside.

Rest in paradise 10 sweet babies who were only 2 months old. The super pups who were all euthanized for space at BARC in Houston. 😞💔🌈🕊️

*Today in Houston, 20 lives were lost at BARC for one reason: space.*

*Mama Yuna* and her *9 neonate puppies* - Shiba Inu/Chow Chow mixes who never even got a name, never opened their eyes in a home.

*10 Super Pups* - 2-month-old Staffies, babies who should’ve been learning to play, not dying in a kennel.

They weren’t sick. They weren’t aggressive. They were out of time.

And “out of time” is what happens when we allow unchecked breeding to outpace compassion.

*I’m grieving. I’m furious. And I’m done asking nicely.*

If you’re in Houston or anywhere in the US, do this with me:

*1. Email your local politicians TODAY.*

Demand they shut down puppy mills. Demand laws that force backyard breeders to stop operating in the shadows.

*2. Make breeding a licensed, educated practice.*

If you want to breed animals, you should have to complete a college-level course and hold a degree/license in animal husbandry and welfare. No more accidental litters from people who “just wanted one litter.”

*3. Fund CVNR and subsidized spay/neuter NOW.*

Community Cat/Vet Neuter Return programs and low-cost spay/neuter for lower-income households are the only thing stopping this cycle. No funding = more dead puppies.

*4. Hold people accountable.*

If you own a pet and refuse to spay/neuter without a vet-approved reason, you should be fined $500 per unaltered pet. Enforcement is the only thing that changes behavior.

*This isn’t about hating breeders. It’s about hating dead babies.*

Mama Yuna and her 9. The 10 Super Pups. They died because we chose not to fund prevention, not to regulate breeding, not to care until it was too late.

*Don’t just “like” this and move on.*

Look up your city council member. Email them. Say their names. Make them uncomfortable until they act.

Rest easy, Mama Yuna. Rest easy, babies.

I’ll carry you with me until the laws change.

📝 Shelter Notes:

12/28 Approaching her kennel she was standing by the door quietly, tail down, tensed, trembling. Walks on a tight leash pulling

forward. While outside she just looked around very alert ears forward. Walking back in she was flinchy as i was checking her

ID band. Placed her into new kennel and took leash off no issue

12/29 While Nellie was in the outside run, she was consistently vocalizing and jumping on the run gate. Overly aroused even when

she was being walked, she was walked on a tight leash and would attempt to chase come birds when treats were on the

ground for her. When she was in her run, she would sometimes yelp and cry in the run for a short time.

During PM feeding, Nellie was still being overly aroused and jumping up on the gate. As I entered the run, she started to

jump on me and paw at my stomach. I gave her treats on her cot to redirect her.

12/30 During morning feeding, Nellie was bouncing around in her run and yelping. During morning walks, she was still being overly

aroused in her run and even painted in her run. While walking, Nellie was walked on a tight leash and pulling in different

directions and while in the run, she was jumping and pawing at the gate. On the way back, she was bouncing around me

and walked on a tight leash still. I offered treats but she continued after eating the treats. She even attempted to chase

some birds.

1/1 jumping on kennel door nonstop when trying to leash she is trying to jump with mouth open towards my face. when

leashing she began to pull forward on tight leash outside she begins to whine when i walk away. coming back to go leash

her she is jumpin nonstop i have to fully step in and try to leash while she is jumping upwards.

📝 Shelter Notes:

5/13/2026: Nugget was in the back of the kennel laying down, alert ears neutral body and face. Was able to leash and he got up and followed me out to the runs. Held a loose leash walking ahead of me, low swaying tail and erect ears.

5/15/2026: Nugget is at the front of the kennel ready to go outside, holds a loose leash, wagging tail and loose body. Walked to and from the runs no issues.

5/16/2026: Was moved to the North Building today. Nugget has been barking all morning, standing at the front of the kennel, heavily panting, with a low tail and dilated pupils. Covered kennel.

5/17/2026: When approaching this morning I could see that Nugget was heavy panting, with a tense/stiff body. She leashed well but walked on a semi-loose leash to the runs, occasionally trying to pull ahead but would redirect for treats. Coming back in she continued to walk on a semi-loose leash and since being back in her kennel she has been non-stop vocalizing.

5/17/2026 13:07: Alarm barking from behind sheet when citizens were walking through the row after opening.

5/18/2026: Nugget continues to be vocal in the morning and when people pass by. Extra enrichment was offered, and he quieted down for a bit but eventually started barking again. The kennel door remains covered.

4/26/2026 Stray | Treeing Cur Mix | Female | 2Y | 48.2 lbs | HW Negative

💜 Volunteer Notes:

I feel like I don't even need to explain what drew me to Susana girl because LOOK AT HER! She's absolutely stunning. And add a little cropped tail that is wiggling in excitement because you just baby talked to her? Add to cart immediately. This girl walks like a dream on the leash and is so gentle and sweet. I tried to get her into the grass for pics so I could really contrast her beautiful markings for photos but she informed me that the grass was much too icky for a princess like her. Even with dirt as her background, she is absolutely stunning in her photos. We used her for multiple temp tests with other dogs because she is such a calm, even temperament. She was very excited to meet the other dogs and was so playful if they were down for that! She seems like a really fun girl who would love to join for some fun outdoor activities but would also be happy to lounge on the couch and cuddle with her humans. We love when a stunning girl also has a beautiful personality to match! I hope that this sweet girl can make it out of the shelter, she absolutely deserves that and more🤍

1.5yr old Rocky Road is on 5/21 euthanasia deadline ‼️ NYC Shelter ‼️

Please comment share pledge foster adopt rescue

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18Vah5k6H2/?mibextid=wwXIfr

TO BE EUTHANIZED 5/21/26
“I don’t understand where my life went. One day I was curled up with my sister, listening to my dad breathe while we all slept close together, and the next… everything was gone. I keep trying to remember the sound of his voice, the way he lifted me when I got scared, the way my sister bumped her head against mine when she wanted to play. I keep wishing I could go back to that time — before the car ride, before the strange building, before the door closed behind him and I couldn’t follow. Before he was sick, then homeless, and unable to care for us the way he wanted too. He cried, we cried, we huddled together before they took my sister away, before he carried me close to his heart to my kennel. Now I stay very still in the back of this kennel because if I don’t move, maybe the world will stop changing. Maybe someone will come for me the way he used to. I’m only 10 months old (says my dad!) but I feel so much older now.

They try to take me out, but my legs won’t work. My body shakes and I press myself into the floor because I don’t know these people, and I don’t know this place, and I don’t know how to be brave without my family. I don’t mean to be difficult. I’m not trying to push anyone away. I’m just scared — scared in a way that makes my chest tight and my paws cold. When they lift me, I freeze. When they set me down, I hide. I’m not broken. I’m not mean. I’m just a boy who lost everything too fast. If someone gentle could give me time, I remember how to love. I remember how to be playful. I remember how to be me. I just need someone to see past the shaking and the silence and realize that I’m still in here, waiting for a hand that feels like home again.”

Please save my life. If you are an experienced foster or adopter, message the DLM page for assistance.

ROCKY ROAD, Id 252612, @1.5 Yrs. Old (owner said 10 months), 55.4 lbs., Male
Queens ACC, Medium Mixed Breed, Gray/White
Owner Surrender Reason: 5/12/26 – Owner Homeless
Behavior Assessment Rating: New Hope Only
Recommendations:
No children under 13
Place with a New Hope
Medical Behavior Rating: 4. Orange

I CAME TO THE SHELTER WITH MY SIBLING, CHARISMA (ALREADY PLACED WITH A RESCUE): https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1403810095113846&set=a.1392670329561156

AT RISK MEMO:
Rocky Road is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Rocky Road has not acclimated well to the shelter environment and has not allowed for handling. He remains highly fearful, shut down, and avoidant of interaction. When attempting to remove Rocky Road from his kennel, he will refuse to walk, baulking in the kennel. Once out of the kennel, he attempts to find a hiding spot, away from handlers. In his previous home, Rocky Road was described as a friendly and affectionate dog once he gets to know people. Medically, Rocky Road has diarrhea and dental disease.

Rocky Road came into the care center with his sibling due to his own not being able to come for them anymore due to their health concerns. His previous family described her as affectionate and playful once warmed up after some time. He prefers to interact with people when he is ready and it will take a while. During his stay in care, Rocky Road has been highly fearful and shut down. He refuses to leave his kennel or walk, moving to the corner of his kennel, trembling, and begins thrashing before freezing in place once leashed. Due to these concerns, we recommend that Rocky Road be placed in an adult-only home through a New Hope rescue partner that can give him the time and space to decompress and acclimate at his own pace. He will likely need further socialization sessions under the guidance of a certified professional trainer who utilizes force-free, reward-only based methods once he has had ample time to adjust to a new home environment.

INTAKE NOTES – Date of Intake: 12-May-2026
Upon intake, Rocky Road was stiff and hypersalivating while in the wait room. When attempt to bring back to medical he would not walk on the leash, his owner also stated he does not walk well on the leash even with him (walked into QACC holding Rocky Road in his arms). Rocky Road thrashed and pancaked; he refused to walk. Staff then got him on top of a flat bed and rolled back to medical, during this Rocky Road did not move and had a stiff body. Staff had to lift him off of the flatbed as well in order to get him off.

OWNER SURRENDER NOTES – BASIC INFORMATION:
Rocky Road is a 10-month year old male dog that lived with his previous owner for 8 months and was surrendered along with his sibling due to his owner becoming homeless. Rocky Road lived with adults and other dogs. He is nervous around new people and prefers contact on his own terms. Rocky Road has no experience with children. Rocky Road has no experience with other dogs, he has only met/lived with his sibling. Rocky Road has no experience with cats. Rocky Road does not resource guard. He has no bite history. Rocky is partially housetrained. His energy level is high.

Other Notes:
Rocky Road does not have much experience with doing outside so he does not walk on a leash without pancaking. Rocky Road is partially potty trained to use wee wee pads but will have accidents on items left on the floor from time to time. He has never been in a car or a crate before. Rocky Road is very fearful in new environments and around new people.

Has this dog ever had any medical issues?: No

For a New Family to Know:

🆘 5/19 Very Urgent Now! WINSTON A654834 1 y/o boxer/pittie mix (HW-) calm & reserved, gentle & sweet, warms up quickly, dog-friendly/co-kenneled. Urgently needs a loving forever home. 612 Canino Rd. Houston, TX (Adoptable Out of State)

WINSTON is one of the shelter’s long stay boys, quietly waiting while the world keeps passing him by.

He’s the more reserved half of a kennelmate duo, happy to let his friend MILO take the spotlight while he hangs back and watches quietly from behind. But WINSTON deserves to be seen too.

He’s dog friendly, gentle, and just wants a chance to leave this shelter alive. He needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER, from near or far to help him now!

WINSTON and MILO do not need to be adopted together — but after spending so much time side by side, we know they’d both love to know the other one made it out safely too. 🤍

Please help us get WINSTON noticed, go meet and adopt him this weekend! The shelter is open Sunday 11-3:15pm at 612 Canino Road.

Here's what we know about WINSTON:

Last Call for Barbara 🥀✨🖤

It might be too late, but I’ll kick myself if I don’t at least try!!! She looks like my rescue dog and he’s the best thing that’s happened to me… 🐾

A euthanasia command has been given 1-year-old Barbara who’s located at NYCACC (Manhattan). She needs a miracle!

She came into the shelter so scared that she peed herself, but she’s since warmed up to staff. She was surrendered mid-April because she didn't get along with a resident cat. She’s crate-trained, knows cues, is good on a leash, and is gentle, shy, cuddly, young & healthy.

She earned the 2nd best behavior rating, friendly w/ strangers, kids & familiar dogs.

Barbara loves toys & car rides!

Shelter: NYCACC (Manhattan)
Location: 326 E 110th St, New York
Phone: (212) 788-4000

🔹 Intake:
5/12/2026: dog not moving, hit by car at the curb. Dog is still alive. 1 brown dog.

📝 Shelter Notes:

5/15/2026: very vocal in kennel after coming back inside

5/16/2026: Moved adopt today: He is very sweet. He has a wiggly body anytime I greet him or walk past. He leashed well and walked on a semi loose leash for an adopter. He plays with his enrichment and has been quite since moving over to South.

5/17/2026: Bruce painted in kennel after feeding. Very wiggly and jumpy on kennel door and walls. I was able to leash and use my treats to redirect. Walked wiggly to the runs and remained wiggly while outside.

Once I walked back to kennel and placed him in kennel he seemed more relax.

https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/LACO3/A5769681

📆 Came in as: TRANSFER: Arrived on 4/15/26

⭐️ Notes: Best Behavior: 1, very friendly

Riccardo was found wandering alone in the desert with severely torn paw pads and foxtails covering his body, yet he has shown an unwaveringly gentle and trusting nature with people. Despite the pain and hardship he endured, he seeks out kindness and responds with soft, calm affection, as if still believing in human goodness.

In playgroup, he offers polite, gentle greetings and moves through the yard with a quiet social ease. He is tolerant and respectful with other dogs, engaging without tension or conflict. Even after everything he’s been through, Riccardo continues to show a soft, resilient spirit and a steady willingness to connect.
