squinting in both eyes, more the left eye than right. Possible entropion ou, eyes have ocular discharge mucopurulent. cleaned both eyes and applied BNP OU. Will start on medical treatment for eyes per protocol.

Bently requires medical care beyond what can be provided in a shelter environment. A medical deadline has been set for placement. If the animal's condition deteriorates prior to placement, humane euthanasia may be considered.

Two weeks. That’s all the time Biggy #A2259556 got. Biggie is a pit bull terrier, 3yrs old and came as a stray. He was terrified during intake and had to be restrained for vaccinations. This resulted in a bad note that became the beginning of his new life. When I met him a last weekend, the misters were blasting at full pressure in every kennel. Animals were completely soaked and slipping all over covered in dirt.

💔 Water was pouring from kennels making it easy for bacteria to spread from one kennel to the next At times I couldn’t even see Biggie through the mist. When it cleared this poor dog was sitting in the middle of it all. Frozen stiff. Visibly sick. So wet and confused. He’d completely stopped trying to move. He caught a URI shortly after arriving just like most dogs at this shelter who are forced to survive unimaginable conditions He was in 3 playgroups with no issues.

📝 Volunteers walked him and he even allowed pets once he felt comfortable and safe. Little by little he was starting to open up. But didn’t matter because the shelter still decided he should be euthanized. While so many kennels remain completely empty.

THEY FLOODED HIS KENNEL.

Let that sink in.

A helpless animal—trapped, scared, with nowhere to go—forced to stand in rising water, getting sicker by the hour… until his body couldn’t take it anymore.

They didn’t just neglect him.They chose this.

They let him suffer.They watched it happen.And now he’s gone.

How is this allowed? How does something this cruel slip through the cracks without consequences?

Biggie deserved warmth.He deserved safety.He deserved someone to protect him—not abandon him to die like that.

This can’t just be another story people scroll past.

We need accountability.We need answers.We need change.

Speak up. Share his story. Demand justice.

📝 Notes: Maximus was originally brought in as a stray & housed in the back OBS area of the shelter. He was adopted by a “big dog” loving & well meaning college student. He did well on this brief 2 day adoption but sadly was retuned when his owner realized he was not ready for the responsibility of pet ownership. Maximus is lower energy & has been in play group with other gentle dainty big dogs. He is a calm boy who enjoys pets & affection . But at 100 plus pounds he needs a strong handler.

⚕️MEDICAL: Maximus is underweight & has one cherry eye but he is a good boy who is worthy of a home with an appropriate adopter. He is now kenneled in an area where the public finally can see him. But big dogs don’t get much of a chance.

📋Loves people - Affectionate and people-oriented; wiggly, tail-wagging demeanor. Walks fairly well on leash, takes treats gently, and enjoys staying close to handlers. Curious and observant, with a soft, friendly approach to new people.

Needs an experienced handler. He appears to be reactive to other dogs—likely needs to be the only pet. Can become tense and fixated on animals (real or on screens), with occasional growling and posturing. Shows some leash pulling and moments of over-arousal.
