Very glad to have finally upgraded to a micra from a sage dual boiler.
After 10 years of Rocket Appartamento ownership, I upgraded to a Micra. I originally wanted a Mini R, but the width would have taken up the space I use to whisk matcha and the depth would have been a cable organization challenge.
I decided to build a no-compromises Micra: Pantechnicon wood kit, Mazer Shot Stopper, Noto Studio centered drip tray, Sworksdesign billet shower screen (with flat screw!) and adjustable portafilter with billet basket. I modeled and printed a cable management box to hide the cables and lastly, created custom template sensors for Home Assistant so I can turn the machine on and manage it in a dashboard that controls the rest of my house, without having to open the LM app, with alerts for when the water tank is empty and to run a backflush cycle every 7 days. Love the machine so much. I used to turn my Appartamento on 45 minutes before I want to use it, now it's down to 5-7 minutes, though that steam power took a few days to get used to!
Hello everyone,
Since yesterday, I’ve been the proud owner of a new Linea Mini. When we picked it up from the dealer, we unpacked it together, carried out the initial set-up, and then brewed three coffees and frothed some milk. After that, we packed the machine away and drove home.
Once home, I connected the machine full of anticipation, waited a moment and started the first brew. Unfortunately, I was then horrified to discover that water was squirting out from the side of the clamped portafilter on my Linea Mini.
It doesn’t matter whether there’s coffee grounds in the portafilter or not. I’ve also clamped the portafilter as far to the right as shown in the video, but even that hasn’t made any difference.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, before I have to drive the 30-kilo machine 60 kilometres back to the dealer? I’m really at a loss.
Please help. I'm about to upgrade my grinder but I'm torn.
I do flat white in the morning, espresso after lunch. Same beans from Hatch in Markham, ON. I usually buy supernova or blackout.
Which grinder would you guys choose?
How long does it take to receive your order from La Marzocco and what does the process look like? I placed an order with them for a grinder and an espresso machine.
I’m getting to the final stages of designing my coffee bar and I need a larger knock box, but I’m also wondering about one built into the counter.
Opinions needed. Inspire me!!!
(and don’t shame my poor little bean grinder, I realize it’s not ‘good enough’ :)
Received the Baark oak wood kit today for the Micra. I must admit I am back paddling a bit on how I feel about it. This is an AI render of the kit on the machine as the installation is quite cumbersome and requires the back to be taken off and so I need to decide to take the jump or not… 🤔
My own thoughts were in the line of how Leonard Cohen put it - “you want it darker”. The oak seems to work better for a black machine I think. Should perhaps have gone with walnut or smoked oak?
This corn milk literally steams and pours like whole milk!
I like the taste of it in cold drinks. It tastes similar to almond milk in hot drinks.
I have a video of me steaming and pouring this on my other socials if you are interested in seeing.
Quick journey: started on a Sage with the barista touch, moved to a Lelit Elizabeth dual boiler (genuinely a great machine), but La Marzocco has been in my head for years. Finally pulled the trigger.
Everything the YouTube reviews say is true. Steaming power is on another level — though it took me a solid 20 jugs of soapy water to get used to the 4-hole steam tip. Once it clicked, microfoam became easy mode.
Shot consistency is the biggest upgrade for me. Noticeably better than anything I’ve owned. Pulled a medium roast the other day with a sweetness I’ve genuinely never tasted before.
Expensive? Absolutely. Worth it? For me, yes.
You invest in happiness.

Coffee station complete! This comes after 3 years of owning the Linea Mini.
I just upgraded from the Acaia Orbit to the Philos and decided to go all in with the silver theme.
Got the Really Nice Tamper and leather tamping mat, and I couldn’t resist getting the Blind Shaker from Weber Workshops.
Of course I’ve spent the past 1.5 weeks dialling in the Mazzer Philos, a beast of a grinder. Oh and I created an app too to log said dials, beans, and dilemmas! Not sure if I can drop the link here…
To save space, I placed the Philos sideways on top of the bomb proof knock drawer - the exact model is 210 x 300mm grounds control.
I actually got the Flick Wdt tool from Subminimal but I will probably use it for my pour over workflow since I can use the blind shaker.
Speaking of pour over coffee, I got the Mazzer Omega too and a bunch of Timemore to get brewing.
I think I’m good for now… unless I feel like upgrading the LM. It’s been 3 years after all 🫢🫢🫢
I’ve had my Linea Micra for a few years now, using RPalvis water solution or third wave water. It’s been a great machine, easy to dial shots, and super convenient to steam milk for lattes.
Randomly it started acting up. The culprit being the heating element. Thankfully I know my way around the machine and have the tools, but with it being only a few years old it surprised me how quickly it failed. La Marzocco was able to help me out with sending me a replacement for free (even though I was out of warranty at this point) as a sign of good will. Crazy that it’s only a 1 year warranty…
Has anyone else experienced issues with the heating element or group head solenoid so far?
In the next month, I’m finally going to join the proverbial La Marzocco Club after years of Delonghi and 6 years living in Rome, Italy. So I turn to this community of Marzocco aficionados for the most sage advice.
I need your help with the following:
Micra or Mini (space and budget is not an issue, and a short “why”)
Mazzer Mini or Philos Grinder, or something else? (Please add model number, e.g. Philos I189D)
Vendor (La Marzocco, Mazzer, Chris, or someone else)
How do I optimize the purchase? (vendor discount, credit card points, etc.) I’ve seen post a while back that someone ended up saving $1,000+
Essential Accessories (tamper, scale, etc)
If I can’t plumb it directly, what is the best option? (RO tank)
Where should I get my beans?
Thanks, fam!
I’ve owned my Linea Micra for just over 2 years and make 1–2 cups a day. It suddenly lost power with a burning smell. Tech found the green power terminal block melted with heavy charring on the control board, similar to this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LaMarzocco/comments/1r6q0io/how_screwed_am_i/
I've had the board replaced ($800 CAD), and the machine is running again.
Questions:
Attaching photos of the damage. Thanks!
My sister is curious what you guys think of this set up
i recently came across a listing of a GS3 av around 3 years old for around 4500 dollars, but im not sure if its worth the risk of going for it.
im planning on going to the seller to test the machine out, what should i look out for while trying the machine out?
My last machine was a Breville Dual Boiler.. Grinder is still the trusted Niche Zero, but I am very, VERY happy with the setup. Super blessed to be able to even upgrade to such an overkill of a machine 🤣 Had to reduce the steam wand temperature because the default was so strong!
