Long story. Rented a car. driving on the interstate and the fucking hubcap popped off. how much is enterprise gonna charge me?
Rented a van from Enterprise yesterday with the standard “return it like for like” fuel policy.
At pickup, both myself and the staff member agreed the van was at half a tank, based on the dashboard fuel gauge visible to both of us.
When I returned it, the staff member pulled up the vehicle telematics on their tablet and informed me I was apparently around 6 litres short based on the exact fuel quantity recorded by the vehicle.
To be clear, I do not object to paying for the missing fuel itself.
The fuel charge was about £13 for 6.6 litres of diesel, which worked out at around £2.03 per litre. Current UK diesel prices are around £1.88–£1.92 per litre, so slightly marked up, but honestly not outrageous for a rental company.
What bothered me was:
• the exact litre data was never available to me as the customer
• Enterprise then added an additional ~£8 admin fee
• their policy also states excess fuel is not refunded
So effectively:
• customer underfills slightly = charged exact litres + admin fee
• customer overfills slightly = Enterprise keeps the fuel
That naturally encourages customers to overfill vehicles just to avoid disputes.
If companies want to assess fuel returns using precise telematics data, then customers should also have access to that same data in order to reasonably comply with the “like for like” fuel policy.
Otherwise “like for like” just becomes:
“approximate for the customer, precise for the company.”
I would also recommend that anyone in a similar position disputes the admin fee element of these charges, particularly until we as customers has get access to the same fuel measurement data so we can return "like for like"
So I have rental in going to be in for 3 months and I just called thr branch to see what maintenance is showing it needs and when and they said they don’t have access to that.
How do I find out what it needs and when? Oil change I got handled.
I’m am beyond livid right now. I booked a awd intermediate suv A MONTH AGO.
I come in today and they don’t have a car at first, but make me wait and finally pop up with a Mazda cx50 for me. Cool. I take it and make it five miles before it goes into some sort of limp mode, and the dash lights up. I limp it back to them. They apologize but don’t have a replacement other than a Sentra. I take it. I’m driving 6k miles around the country for three weeks so I wanted an suv but I said I’d make do. I did call other locations with them and no one had any available suvs.
I get the Sentra on the highway and at 70 it shakes and pulls to the right. I suck it up. While filling up a few hundred miles away from where I got it, I notice that it has four different brand tires on it with varying tread. One tire on the side it pulls to has uneven wear. The outside of the tire looks okay but the inside was showing some metal wire or something. Could be the cause of the pull but idk. I stop at an airport location after being directed by enterprise people over the phone to swap cars. While there, the guys come and say the car has five spots of hail damage. Where? On the roof. Tiny little pinky sized dents in the metal they had to use this circle mirror thing to see. My city had hail a month ago. Somehow apparently it’s my fault and they make my sign some little slip saying it might come back to me. At this point I don’t give a shit and will let my chase credit cards insurance deal with that.
They swap me out for a wagoneer and didn’t charge me the difference so I was fine with it. I get on the highway and immediately it shakes worse than the Sentra at 70mph. I recorded my drink shaking and showed them since I assumed they would not even care to take it out for a drive. They just hand me a different wagoneer. Guess what? Same issue. Shits shaking on the fucking highway. Seat shakes. My leg through the gas pedal. This one also pulls to the right hard. Im currently sitting at tires plus getting an alignment and wheel balance done. They also showed me that this wagoneer has three different brand and tread depth tires. One front one is new new with paint marks, other front one is at 4/32 one rear one is at 8mm and the other is at 4mm.
Im done with enterprise. Im not a picky person I just want a safe car to drive. Why is this so hard. How are these cars not being inspected prior to handing them out? I don’t have time to meep running back every five seconds to swap cars. This is a joke. I’ve never ever had issues like this with them!
Hi guys, looking for some advice. I got too close to the curb on my rental and I got scratches that are larger than the circle on the damage assessor tool. Does anyone know how much Enterprise charged for repairing one rim? Is it cheaper for me to go to a shop and have it repaired?
TIA
I’ve had two trucks with bedliners, and two trucks with no bedliners. For the ones without, on two separate occasions, I was told don’t worry about any scratches or any non-serious damage in the bed.
Surely it is understood the capabilities of the bed of a pickup truck, but I’m wondering what the final word is in regards to trucks with no bedliners.
When/if they are prepared for sale through Enterprise Car Sales, is the bed resurfaced/repainted? Is the bed entirely replaced as a whole? Or is it just auctioned off if it’s beyond a fair repair.
Just curious. Upcoming 1/2 ton rental and I’m guaranteed a truck, just looking to put my conscience at ease if it has no bedliner. I’d rather not talk anyone’s ears off. Not looking to destroy it or neglect it, I expect to treat it like my growing child, but trucks with no bedliners just confuse me.
Hello, I have rented from enterprise and hertz in the past but not from Alamo. I know Enterprise owns Alamo, so I am giving them a shot.
I was able to book a premium elite suv (Q5 or similar) through Alamo for $191 (3 days). Enterprise was charging $240 for the Q5.
Are there any reasons why Alamo might be way cheaper than Enterprise? I just want to know what I am getting myself into before going to pick up the car.
I will also be renting from TPA, so if anyone has rented a premium elite suv in TPA, please let me know!
Rented a car from Enterprise and accidentally ran over road debris at night. It left this scrape on the lower bumper. I didn’t get the damage waiver. Does this look minor or something they’d likely charge me for?
I will be renting a car from the airport branch in Syracuse, NY soon for a family vacation. I am unable to rent it in my name as I do not have a credit card and I will not be flying back out of Syracuse with the rest of my family, so I don’t have a ticketed return flight in my name.
The plan was to rent it in my dad’s name since he has a credit card, but he recently found out that he lost his physical driver’s license (we are not US citizens). He has a paper copy of an official temporary driver’s license, but the replacement ID will not arrive in time for our vacation.
Will the branch accept the temporary license together with other ID? Or can I rent with my debit card and produce my dad’s ticketed return flight as the second driver?
Anyone else have to try and deal with this god awful insurance company as an Enterprise employee?
Truthfully just the worst experience every single time without fail and there’s gotta be someone else out there that knows my pain with Sedgwick
Minor scrape, less than 2 inches. Very shallow but it still bends the light. Will a touchup pen / buff be able to work here ?
I have a reservation for the end of the month that I made a few weeks ago. I haven't rented a vehicle in a while and wanted to make sure I had everything understood and in place prior to the day I picked it up, ask if they had any hybrid SUVs, and that I would be driving it to Florida. The last time I rented, I got there and told them I was driving it to TN, I had to wait a while for a different car because the one they were going to give me needed to be serviced and get an oil change, I had time to wait and didn't mind. I wanted to make sure that didn't happen and well anxiety gets the best of me sometimes, lol. My partner and I are driving to Florida (from Ct), while at the branch I'll be getting it from, I asked about adding her and what we needed to do, she lives about an hour away. The employee there told me that she could just go to the branch near her to add herself to my reservation so she didn't have to come there. I screenshot the reservation page in the app with my confirmation number for her to show them. She went the next morning and they told her they couldn't do it and that they couldn't even look up my confirmation number because they were in a different group?
Any advice on how to get this accomplished, we are both 911 dispatchers that work overnights, coordinating both of us being available to meet and go to the branch when they're open in the next 2 weeks is going to be tough. Also, I'm renting saturday to monday, 9 days, if I switch it to Friday, they would be able to pick me up (they don't do pick ups on saturdays) and I don't have to figure out what to do with my personal vehicle. Should I just do a two week rental to save money?
Thank you for any tips or advice you can give me, sorry it's long, wanted to make sure details for any questions that may arise were in there.
I rented a car recently from enterprise. I'm from Canada, and when I rented I was advised I would have to play the rental plus a $300 deposit on my credit card.
No issues. I figured it would be a "hold". Will turn out it was a charge that posted. When I turned in the car, the employee advised that I would be refunded the $300 deposit and sent me the final invoice.
Fast forward a couple days, they did in fact refund the deposit. However... Given that they actually charged my card, I got dinged foreign exchange fees on both sides. This is approximately $15. It's not a lot of money but it is annoying. Has anyone brought this up to enterprise before?
Hello, I have a flight on Thursday, that for the last couple of days has been delayed or diverted.
My rental is at GRR and I'm wondering how those types of reservations are handled, and what happens if I'm unable to make the time I've currently reserved, as well as not being able to contact the location if I'm airborne?
Got into a minor fender bender two weeks ago in a rental car in the Bay Area. Backed into a parked car at a gas station, super low speed, no injuries, no police. We exchanged info and went our separate ways.
I had CDW on the rental but no SLP and no personal auto insurance. Allstate (other driver’s insurer) already determined I’m 100% at fault and is sending a demand letter. Enterprise assigned a liability adjuster who says they’ll handle it but will come after me for whatever they pay out.
Damage looked like bumper scuffs and paint transfer, nothing major. I’m also currently abroad until end of July.
Does CDW cover anything for third party damages or is it strictly for the rental itself? Can I negotiate the repair estimate when it comes in? And should I even give the Enterprise adjuster a statement or will that hurt me?
First time dealing with anything like this, any advice helps.
Edit: I’m going to be good. I can afford to pay whatever comes my way and know to make sure I’m fully covered next time.
On the other hand, some of y’all in the comments need a hug from ya mommas.
Does enterprise accept discover credit cards for rental cars?
I reversed into a wall and damaged the textured plastic bumper (it’s ripped in half) and there’s scratches on the panel above it where the paint is lost. I didn’t take out any express protection or anything with enterprise.
How much are they going to charge me?
Can I get it repaired at a body shop and return it to them without them noticing?
Help.
I just set up my zoom interview for the Manager Trainee program and I see on here many people start with a phone interview then a zoom interview. Is that a good sign that I seemed to have skipped the phone?
Also does anyone have insights on the hiring process after the zoom interview (I.e. interview types, timeline etc.)
Thank you so much for your time in advance!
TL;DR Hiring process for manager trainee?
