Is ATT fiber internet better than Cox if you have very high usage?
Hey there, recently Cox has been stringing me along about their terrible upload speeds (has been 2mb/s-0.4mb/s after about 4PM for over a month). They keep giving a deadline for when it could be fixed and then it continues to be unusable past the deadlines.
I'm wondering if ATT Fiber is a better alternative for a household with 3 people who work online from home 24/7 all at the same time, and 1 extra person who streams a lot of tv shows, plus some of these people game a lot, or is that maybe too heavy of a use case for it?
I'm really not all too knowledgeable, but I feel like Cox has been terrible to work with for as long as I've had it and I'm at my last straw with this. But I also don't want to swap only to find out that it's not the right fit for us.
I would highly appreciate any insight you have about potentially switching to ATT!
Is It Finally Time to Leave At&t
Im looking to make a change soon enough, ive been with Att for over 15years now and it seems my billing keeps increasing..How is T-MOBILE to Att So Cal in your opinion? Why should I stay you think?
Why should I say Ciao..?
International Day Pass Limit
Husband is military so we travel a lot. We will be out of the US for about 5-10 years without any opportunity to travel back to the US for at least 2-3 years at a time in between visits but we do want to keep our US numbers as primary numbers since we’ve had them our whole lives (with a phone) and they’re linked to every account we’ve ever created.
We don’t mind paying the extra $180/month for the international day pass if it means we don’t have to deal with extra sims every-time we travel to a new country (often).
We do mostly use WiFi for everything and we don’t call or text much so we don’t use a lot of roaming, WiFi or text data.
My question is, is there a limit on how long we can use this without returning to the US? One agent said you have to return to the US every 6 months and use a tower there. Another said it doesn’t matter how long we’re out of the country, as long as the bill is paid and we’re not abusing the pass.
Thank you in advance.
Can you use turbo mode with the premium 2.0 unlimited data plan?
I noticed on that plan it says it unlimited but they deprioritize you if the network is busy. Could I buy the turbo add on and never have that issue?
AT&T Unlimited Elite vs Premium 2.0 — worth upgrading or nah?
I’m currently on the AT&T Unlimited Elite plan paying about $75/mo after discounts, and I just noticed the new Premium 2.0 plan is $90/mo before taxes.
From what I can tell:
• Premium 2.0 has 100GB hotspot (vs 40GB on Elite?)
• Both have “unlimited premium data”
• Premium mentions 4K streaming (not sure if Elite still has that?)
• Same Latin America roaming perk?
I’m trying to figure out if switching is actually worth it or if it’s basically the same thing with a higher price tag.
Main things I’m wondering:
• Is there any difference in network priority/QCI between Elite and Premium 2.0?
• Would I actually notice faster speeds or less throttling?
• What would I lose by leaving Elite?
• What would I actually gain?
Or should I just stay where I’m at since I already have a decent price?
Anyone here made the switch and noticed a real difference?
The fraudsters got me
I got a text from AT&T letting me know that a request to move my number to a new service provider was received and about to occur. Moments later my service shut off. Turns out this happened to my Dad earlier today, but I had not heard about it due to the fact that he couldn't use his phone. I assume is how they got to me. I am still on his phone plan, and as the primary member, he is the one in contact with AT&T as we speak to figure out what we do.
Has anyone gone through this who can share what their experience was like? Were you able to get your number back? Were they successful in taking any money? Is there anything I should do to protect myself?
I've locked my cards/contacted my bank and lowered my transaction notification threshold as a precaution. I've been getting emails from Western Union, so they're trying, but unsuccessfully insofar as I can tell. I'm a bit at a loss because I'm not sure what they're able to access with my phone number only. As far as I can tell, my email is still fine. (but is it if western union is sending stuff to that email?)
Thanks in advance.
Installment Plan Status After Asurion Payout
I just filed a claim for one of the phones on our plan and, instead of being offered a repair or replacement, Asurion indicated that they don't have that phone and they would just do a payout for it.
If I accept the payout I will have to return the broken phone, which is no big deal, but my question is what becomes of the installment credits that were being received for that line.
I suppose I could use the payout to pay off the remaining balance for that line and enter a new installment agreement for a replacement phone.
Am I able to instead purchase a new phone outright and continue to use that line with the new phone ( while still receiving the credits)?
I suspect the last option is probably me trying to both have my cake and eat it but I figured I would ask. Thanks!
Not receiving texts or calls unless I am connected to WiFi
I have searched far and wide for an answer to this. But I can only find situations where the opposite is true (other people aren't receiving texts/calls over WiFi).
Basically I switched to AT&T and upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S25 earlier this year. I have an active cell service that I pay every month. But I CANNOT receive any texts or calls when I am disconnected from WiFi/relying on cell towers. I'll be driving and people are trying to reach me but I don't get anything. I'll show up to where I'm going and then I'll get an influx of texts messages and missed call notifications.
I have tried toggling WiFi calling on and off, airplane mode, resetting my message settings. Nothing. I didn't have this issue with my previous carrier and phone (Spectrum and Samsung Galaxy S21). I don't know what's going on. So far I haven't noticed an issue sending texts or calls, it's just receiving.
I either HAVE to be connected to WiFi or use my data in order to receive messages. And I don't have the unlimited data plan so that is not possible for me to do 24/7.
Any help would be appreciated.
Prem Tech Training date
So my background check took about two weeks past my tentative orientation date to complete. It’s been days since it completed and it’s says passed but I haven’t heard anything from them about it and was wondering if maybe they’d rescind my offer because the check took too long. Or do I have to wait for another wave of hires to start training?
Trying to reach a live agent is impossible
What is even this, why did I have to say over 10x to the prompts “speak to an agent” I followed and pressed what it tells you but even then I need assistance across all my att accounts it’s not just thing I’m calling about. That was my rant
ATT / Asurion Replacement phone was Out of Warranty Already
So purchased a new iphone 16 pro max 512gb back in August of 2025. Unfortunately it was stolen only 3 months later. We have the multi coverage insurance plan (of $50/mo) with our ATT plan so I filed a claim. Asurion sent me a replacement of "same" phone/gb. So now, 5 months later, the sound/speakers are not working properly. I go to open a claim for repair thru my ATT Asurion coverage. When I enter the IMEI number the claim process tells me the phone is still under Apple warranty (based on the IMEI number being the same as my original phone that was stolen). So I go to Apple but when I put in the serial number of the replacement phone it states that the warranty expired on 9/22/2025. So those F'ers sent me an old ass phone to replace my 3 month old phone that still had 10 months left under Apple warranty. I read the Asurion terms and I guess this is allowed? (i.e. the replacement phone can be a refurb, used, etc) However, my main problem is that the Asurion website won't let me file a claim for repair because it keeps bumping me over to Apple because the IMEI is still linked to my original (stolen) phone.
Questions:
Should Asurion not have sent me a replacement that was out of warranty already? Or was this allowed? I am still paying my ATT installment plan for the next two years on a phone that should still be under warranty for another four months at least. Plus I had to pay a $275 deductible to replace the stolen phone.
I guess I just need to call Asurion and speak to someone so they can override the IMEI or something? (UGH!!)
Thanks so much!!
Transfer all voicemails from S22 Ultra to new S25 Ultra?
I have been using an unlocked S22 Ultra for the past 4 years. I have the ATT Visual Voicemail app, and have a lot of messages on there that I don't want to lose. I downloaded the ATT Visual Voicemail app on the new S25 Ultra and activated it, but it will only download 4 voicemails over the past two weeks that are still on the ATT server.
I've tried some app backup/transfer apps, but they only transfer the Visual Voicemail apk without the data (voicemails). Samsung Smart Switch wont transfer at all.
Is there anyway to have the ATT Visual Voicemail app on my new S25 Ultra with all of the voicemails transfered from the S22 Ultra?
Can I have a Pixel phone repaired through Google under their extended repair program even if I do now own the device yet and am receiving free monthly credits?
reddit.comI moved to a new apartment in the same building. Do I still have to notify ATT?
I know you usually have to notify them when you move but since it’s in the same building, just a different apartment, I’m wondering if I could take my equipment and simply connect to the WiFi here.
How long for fcc/bbb complaints to be resolved? (Go to a corporate store for trade ins)
I spent 4 hours on the phone with ATT, Verizon, AND UPS just to be told there’s nothing they can do.
So I gave ATT two free phones and I still have to pay $60 more a month on my bill.
They tried to shift the blame of UPS.
The situation: I traded in through the mail - I didn’t know any better I guess. And honestly - with all these issues, mail in trade ins shouldn’t exist.
I dropped of my two phones in two different boxes to UPS. They gave me the shipping receipt with tracking number. Here’s the issue: the tracking number ATT attributed to my TWO phones was the same tracking number for my new phones. Wow. So the tracking information I saved for SEVEN MONTHS is invalid.
ATT says there 0 mention of trade in on my account. I have an email saying I had two trade ins for my plan.
I gave them the IMEI numbers and they said they don’t have the phones.
Here’s the kicker - I called two months ago and they told me that the trade in promotion WAS on my account and that the warehouse DID RECIEVE THEM. so who’s lying?
I filed a complaint with the BBB and FCC. I’ll let you all know how long it takes to be resolved.
As of now - I gave ATT two free phones and have to pay over $2k extra for my new phones.
Beware of ATT and trade ins, especially with mail in. I mailed in with Verizon and had only ONE issue, and that was because I put them in the same box. They were never able to find the second phone, but they credited my account anyway. ATT just stayed, no we can’t help but will still keep taking your money.
If they can’t straighten this out I’m going to pay off my phones and join a simple plan like cricket or something because these major carriers are almost like scammers if feels like.
That being said - how long does it take for complaints to be corrected after filing complaints?
W H A T
So, there was this supposed deal saying I could switch to AT&T, get an unlimited plan, trade in my S25 Ultra, and receive a full $1300 trade-in credit to get an S26 Ultra. I dropped my phone on April 3rd, but for some reason, the credit still hasn't been applied. I understand the activation fees, but the surcharges? Really? And why am I getting charged for the "free phone"? Also, I called, and the agent said I would only get $500 on the unlimited value plan, not on the extra or premium. I was told I would get credit on an unlimited plan; there was no disclaimer that it was only for premium. She also said I wouldn't get the full credit if I didn't switch before the credits were applied. So, do I switch now or not? How do I even know if I'll get the full credit on unlimited and that they're not lying again? That's so vile of them...
Am I the only one having this problem??
Last time I spoke with an AT&T representative, I got a used phone number and now just got a new phone number again. The issue stims that every phone number they give me is recycled (Twitch accounts, just now I attempted to make a new login.gov account but can't because someone else has the number on their login.gov account), this is getting ridicolous??? like why do I keep getting a recycled number that someone previously used and YET, they still have accounts with the number I am given. idk thats just my experience so far and I use SMS messages to verify my indentity and security.
Austin tx (surrounding area) outtage
Been down since noon
Wish they'd just close my dang account, getting sick of it!
I have been trying for the past going on 48 hours to close an account I have with AT&T. There's one phone number on the account which isn't attached to any device because I was wanting the number to use on an older device that supports Sim cards. The device worked fine for around half the day on April 8th. Early morning on April 9th I have noticed a notification from AT&T stating they paused the number due to security reasons. 4 calls later that day to absolutely zero information past the fact that there is a pin to the account I once was never asked about setting one for, nor ever DID set one for.
Now to fast forward to now: I have gone from store to store, two official stores, not authorized retailers mind you, being told they cannot change the pin as it won't let them for security reasons for some reason. not only have we been on the phone with them but I myself have called again multiple times to no avail.
I just want the damn account closed at this point but can't even have that. I dont intend to pay a bill I can't even use in the first place, and heaven forbid they should have the audacity to have a system that is ease of use in any way shape or form.
does anyone know of some way I can close the account? I absolutely find this situation disgusting, have called multiple times stating I want the account closed altogether to no avail.
what other steps could I take at this point? call a lawyer?
