Spoon Feeding Skills
My 30 month old will not use a spoon. Any food I put on his high chair - he will demolish it with his hands - yoghurt, rice, anything. He puts his hands in it, spreads it over the high chair tray, and then waves his hands around - while food splatters everywhere. He does not bring his hands to his mouth to eat it. It is almost like....once the food gets so messy....he doesn't even view it as food anymore.
He will self feed veggie straws and dry cereal - but that is it.
He is able to hold a spoon....but will hold the spoon and bang it on the high chair tray with one hand....while demolishing the food with the other hand.
I know it is important for kids to explore and get messy....but I am tired of the mess. And I am getting worried if he will ever learn to use his spoon.
Our mealtimes look like - me holding the food and spoon feeding him.
I would love some advice if anyone else has also struggled with this. Please share any tips/tricks/strategies you can think of!
