45mph construction zone on 465 NE leg

For context, I've already received a ticket for going 56mph in this 45mph construction zone on the NE leg of 465. So when I drive through there now (4 times a week), I set my cruise to 55mph and stay in the middle lane (they'll give you up to 10mph and not ticket you).

People are totally insane though, flying through this area at 70, 80mph and antagonizing people who don't do that. Yesterday I was in the middle lane and I had a semi fly around me in the right lane laying on his horn and flipping me off. Then, I'm still in the middle lane doing 55mph. Some guy camps out behind me two inches from my bumper for a couple miles, so I slowed down to 50mph (didn't even hit my brakes, just eased the cruise down to 50). He goes around me, then gets in front of me and brake checks me! This particular day was an extreme example, but these are not the only incidents I've experienced the last few months on this stretch of road.

What is going on? Is someone who is trying to abide by the law (or at the very least, attempt to respect the spirit of it) that out of the ordinary? I'm truly at a loss as to what to do on this stretch of road in order to not subject myself to this kind of abuse.

Noblesville school shooter to be released from court monitoring as he turns 21

The Noblesville West Middle School shooter, who wounded a student and a teacher in 2018, will be released from court monitoring on April 11, his 21st birthday.

The former Noblesville student attended his last court hearing on Monday where Hamilton County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Bloch approved his release from being GPS monitored at home.

WFYI is not identifying the shooter because he was charged and sentenced as a juvenile.

Bloch said the court “rather proficiently” researched a way to keep him under court monitoring, but state law bars the juvenile court from further monitoring anyone past age 21, requiring the court to end the GPS monitoring.

“What I'm telling you today is a lot of people, when they come to court for the last time, it's cause for celebration, and they think I don't have to do anything anymore. That is not your reality, in my opinion,” Bloch said during the hearing.

He was 13 when he opened fire inside Noblesville West Middle School on May 25, 2018. He took two handguns from his parents' home safe and shot multiple rounds in his seventh-grade classroom.

The shots fired injured seventh-grade teacher Jason Seaman and student Ella Whistler. Seaman was also the one who tackled the boy. No one was killed.

Evidence at the original 2018 court hearing revealed that he had recorded a video the day of the shooting, displaying the guns and saying, “I’m not killing myself. I have to take other people’s lives before I take mine.”

He was eventually sent to an Indiana Department of Correction juvenile facility where he underwent mandatory programming until he was 18 years old. Then the teenager was released to his parents for at-home detention with GPS monitoring.

A delinquency petition was filed against him in 2023 after a a corrections employee at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility said he “fist-bumped” her breast.

The young man’s attorney, Benjamin Jaffe, said during the court hearing that he believes his client still wants to continue with therapy and counseling, and considers his parents' involvement a crucial factor in his rehabilitation.

“There's no undoing what he did, but I think everyone involved in this wants him to be a better person, and never wants him to be in that place again,” Jaffe said.

Jaffe’s client did not give any comment during Monday’s hearing. Jaffe also told WFYI after the hearing that his client had no additional comments.

The 2018 shooting is among the most prominent school shooting in Indiana. It spurred the Noblesville Schools to pursue a $50 million school safety referendum to pay for a wide range of school safety provisions and mental health services.

While Judge Block agreed that the young adult had made improvements, he said the community still feels the impact of the shooting.

“So while you're improving in some way, this community continues to suffer to a lesser degree, because thankfully, you've not had an incident quite like yours,” Bloch said.

Still, Bloch said the results of the case are “unsatisfactory.”

“It's just all the things that I have to weigh versus your best interests, our community's best interests, society's best interest,” Bloch said.

The former Noblesville student is also barred by court order from owning a handgun while under the age of 23 and barred from possessing a firearm while under the age of 28.

A councilmember backed a data center project. Then 13 bullets and a "No Data Centers" note hit his home

As backlash to AI infrastructure intensifies nationwide, it just turned violent in Indianapolis.

Ron Gibson, a city-county councilmember, woke up just before 1AM on Monday to find 13 bullet holes in his home, along with a note on his doorstep that read “No Data Centers.” He and his 8-year-old son were home at the time, according to a statement released by the councilmember on Monday, though neither reported injuries.

“Just steps from where those bullets struck is our dining room table, where my son had been playing with his Legos the day before,” Councilmember Gibson wrote in a statement. “That reality is deeply unsettling.”

The shooting appears to have been politically motivated, tied to a proposed data center in Indianapolis’s Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. Less than a week prior to the incident, Gibson had voiced his support for the construction of a data center in his district.

Big Police Presence blocking detour

I was driving around to get to school around the keystone area and notice a huge police presence basically blocking the area to get into, seems like they are surrounding a house near a gas station. I can’t remember the street name, but it seems like a hostage situation or ICE, does anybody know what’s happening?

Do you live on the Monon Trail?

Howdy neighbor!

Earlier this year my husband and I bought our first house and it’s along the Monon Trail! I think it’d be so fun to have a weekend of back yard/garage sales. So I’m organizing a community yard sale June 13th & 14th. Before I really start promoting it I’m trying to gather neighbors who live along the trail between 38th and Kessler Blvd to have communication from those participating.

If this is you, let me know so I can add you to a private Facebook group to start communication!

Send in the Clowns: Party Clown edition

Hello! I have a small child to celebrate, who does not yet dictate the theme of their own birthday party.

If the art of clownery is still a thing, I’d like to indulge it. Im talking balloons, pantomime, pie takes: the works. Audience of Toddlers, plus grown ups who have had 2 beers.

Please let me know any recommendations!

Honk honk-

Thank you.

My neighbor has been pulling my trashcan up and down for me for weeks, sometimes I catch the bring up for us both. Obviously appreciate it so much but I want to show him I appreciate him. How do I do this? Gift basket?

He is a gem and I appreciate him doing this for me because he never gives me a chance (I usually pull it down in the evening after work and by that time, he has it down). I want to show him how much I appreciate it.

Looking for an affordable hair salon/stylist

Hi!

I’m a student at IU Indy and my hair is in desperate need of a refresh. It’s been a few years since a professional has done anything with it; I normally trim it myself every few months.

Unfortunately I’m pretty limited with my budget, but I’m thinking of getting a trim (just the dead ends) and a bleach/dye/tone for my blonde hair. I know these sessions can run into the hundreds, so my budget might be a little low for what I want… I’d be okay with getting less done with it to stay within my budget. Right now I’d say the highest I’d go is around $200-250.

I attached some pics for reference, I just have long, wavy-ish bronze-colored hair, nothing that would be too difficult to work with I think. The second pic is a reference photo.

If anyone could recommend a stylist or salon who might be able to work with me and my budget to get me as close to the reference as possible, I’d really appreciate it!!! TIA!

Anyone know a reliable auto electric shop that is honest?

My car has a parasitic drain of some sort and it’s starting to worsen and I want to get my car looked at but I don’t want them to tell me I need something that I don’t.

There is a sound system installed(it was in there when I bought it) and I’m assuming the subwoofer is probably the culprit.

Anyone have experience with The Prairies at 46th and Arlington?

I know it's not the ideal area but in a good spot for my needs and affordable. I just can't find hardly anything about them online. Is it safe enough (I can deal with city living, but don't want to fear for my life)? What is the management and maintenance like? Appreciate the help.

Anyone else without ATT Internet going on 5-6 days now?

Since last weekend, Internet has been down for us on the East side. Apparently there is a cable issue on their end.

Was originally told it would be up by last Saturday...

Then it was supposed to be up by this Wednesday.

Well, now they are saying Thursday.

Just called, and support said honestly they don't know an exact time it will be up. This is absolutely ridiculous in the year of our Lord 2026.

Anyone else experiencing this? Thinking of switching providers at this point.

Jewelry repair in Indy?

I have a thin gold chain I need repaired. I know just about any jewelry store could probably handle it, but any advice on places you'd recommend or places to absolutely stay away from would be appreciated.

Also looking at maybe getting another necklace gold plated, so any recommendations on that would be great too.

Preferably either downtown or on the north side, but open to any place in Indy that does good work.

Thanks

Searching for music open mics and events around Indy

Hello! So I want to find some places where there’s open mic events or any kind of music things that could help me be a better rapper. Long story short I suck🤷🏽‍♀️ I used to be alright, but I’ve really been lazy the last few years. One of my favorite places I used to go to was Stonetree, but they closed. I want to connect with local artist, I want to try to grow myself. I like to be more lyrical (like Em obviously, or JID, Nas and others.) I want to be around more people that make music, learn some new processes and grow! If anyone knows of any events like that please reach out! I’d even be willing to pay the right person if they’d be willing to mentor. Someone to push me to give my all! I suffer from being in my head to much, and want to get out of that head space. I’m also looking for some dope producers too. Boombap, trap, really anything. Hope someone sees this and reaches out! Have a good night!

Children’s museum with 3 kids

I have a 4 year old and (wild) twin two year olds, does anyone have any tips or tricks for navigating the museum with kids this age? My husband will be with us as well, but I’m starting to get nervous as this is our first little trip with the twins. Areas to avoid? Places to start? Must sees?

Any suggestions for IOP or similar program without dual diagnosis?

I struggle severely with anxiety and depression, and have been in and out of therapy for a long time. I had been out of it the last few years and hit a breaking point with my suicidal ideation, so I reached out to a few therapists last week out of desperation. One of them expressed a lot of concern for me and encouraged me to look into inpatient or intensive outpatient options. I went to Eskenazi and did an intake last week, and they signed me up for group + individual therapy and to meet with a NP who can help me get medication. Okay, a start.

I have been to a couple group therapy sessions this week, and so far I've been really underwhelmed and unimpressed. My individual therapy is with a student intern, and I am very skeptical of that being a useful arrangement for me when I have so muxh experience in therapy and know what I like/don't like, and am looking for someone I can really trust and build a rapport with. I also just generally feel pretty invisible there-- for my group session today I had a nurse first send me into a wrong room, which was absolutely mortifying and made me start crying when they all laughed me out of it, and when I was actually in the correct session, I sat weeping and snotting all over myself because there were no tissues in the room. When I went to look for some outside, there were none, and no clearly marked bathrooms for patients-- I had to ask a nurse who was on the phone to point me toward a bathroom just to swipe some snot off myself. Altogether a horrible experience that does not encourage me to keep coming back and being open.

I really need some structured, regular, frequent support, and I don't think I'll get it there. Most IOPs I've seen in the area are dual diagnosis for addiction though, which is not my experience. Any suggestions?
