I added a pet that fights with you… but enemies completely ignore it

Been working on a combat system where your pet helps you in fights. Ashes of Darkness

Right now enemies don’t target it at all, so it just keeps attacking freely.

Do you think they should be able to kill it, or is it better this way?

Spear Hunting Spiders

In this weeks update: The basics of spear hunting in my survival game. The idea is quite simple. Pressing aim stops the character and "charges" the throw, letting you aim. Then, when you're ready you can throw it and the spear will land exactly where you pointed. The tricky part is timing the throw correctly and taking enemy movement into account.

Spear Hunting - Does it look fun?

Hey Guys!

I worked on the spear throw mechanic for a while and wanted to ask you for some feedback. Do you think it looks fun and satistying?

The idea is quite simple. Pressing aim stops the character and "charges" the throw, letting you aim. Your range extends and you can adjust the direction while it does. Then, when you're ready you can throw it and the spear will land exactly where you pointed. The skill part is timing the throw right, taking enemy movement and spear throw time into account.

My fireworks game doesn't have a 'hook', but does it ignite your interest? lol. sorry... the fishing guy made me do it

You build a factory by day and at night you produce fireworks to protect your castle.

We are still in early development, but we made a small sub, for those who like to set things on fire. :P r/CandleRocketBoom

Even cozy games have a boss to fight

If you know Don Quixote, you probably remember his iconic fight with the giant/windmill

This is how we imagined it in Hidalgo.

Hidalgo is our cozy co-op (but also has single player) adventure inspired by Don Quixote, where we’re putting a lot of care into the handcrafted look and the way each interaction feels. Do you like it?

Happy Friday!

A level built around freedom

This level from our game Play Faster is called Unbounded Exploration, and it’s our most open map so far.

You start at the top of a pyramid and can go almost anywhere: left, right, up, diagonals. Each direction leads to a different finish, and where you exit changes your starting spot in the final map.

On a first run it feels pretty chill. It looks like a bright desert with lots of space, floating platforms and not much direct danger. But once you start pushing for time, that same openness becomes a routing problem: up is climbing precision, left is gimmick chaos, right is tight wall chains, and then there’s a hidden finish for people who push further.

We weren’t trying to make it hard in a stressful way. It was more about giving players freedom and then letting that freedom turn into optimization.

Visually it’s warm sand and stone. Mechanically, it’s one of the most layered maps we’ve built.

Rogue Like prototype

Here's some more information about my latest project. I'm working on it alone. It's going to be a role-playing game with roguelike elements. It features a special shooting system, a buff and debuff system, as well as non-persistent locations and NPCs that will attack the player.

Shooting in the game is made quite simple, but it also complicates the gameplay. To shoot, you just need to hold down the button. The longer you hold it, the more diverse and powerful the damage becomes, but the character becomes slower and more vulnerable.

The game's skill and progression system is based on the idea that each skill has an opposite skill. For example, if you improve a skill that speeds up your shooting, the negative side of that skill may affect your health. Additionally, the combinations of these skills will be randomly generated.

In addition to the perks, the locations will also change. For example, on one of them, you won't be able to use a shield, on another, you won't be able to use hand-to-hand combat, or you won't be able to fly if I implement such an option.
