Any Miculek style grips available for the GP100?

Want something a little fancier than the big rubber Hogue. I like the look of the Miculek style grips but it seems they're only for S&W revolvers. What else should I look at?

First firearm! S&W 686+ 7 shot with 6" barrel

Just picked up my first revolver as the title says. It is my first firearm. I have handled firearms a decent amount and had basic safety training, but never owned one myself until now.

I have a question I have had trouble finding the answer to online. I understand this if firearm uses a hammer block to prevent accidental discharge. But I am unsure to to what extent this works. Is it possible to pull the hammer back only slightly and release it, causing a discharge? It is double action, and I know I can pull the hammer back to single action mode, but hypothetically, could the hammer be pulled back slightly on accident and then released to cause an accidental discharge?

I don't have a lot of experience with revolvers specifically, other than at a gun range, so I appreciate your expertise if you happen to know. Thank you!

Thinking about buying a current production 586 for $870

Hi! I’m looking to get my first revolver. I’m thinking about getting a current production S&W 586 with a 4” barrel. For those that own the new 586’s, are they worth it for the money? I know the lockup is solid, and fit and finish is great. Just wanted some opinions.

Night Guard and gym shorts

ANR Holster and the Night Guard work awesome in a pair or gym shorts and a T-shirt.

She's a beaut, Clark

First wheel gun I've owned, so excited to have this hunk of iron. Can't wait to give it plenty of love and eventually pass it down to my son one day.

My First Blackpowder Firearm

I wasn't planning on getting into Black Powder, but I got offered this for free, and who says no to free guns?

Uberti 1860, markings show it was manufactured in 1969! Old girl in her own right!

Seeking crowd-sourced knowledge for identification

Hello, dear community,

This is a Smith & Wesson 19-4 revolver. However, despite consulting various firearms experts and online sources, I haven’t been able to determine who manufactured the barrel. It’s not a slip-on barrel jacket but a complete unit. Merkle has often been mentioned as the manufacturer, but we can now rule that out. Perhaps one of you recognizes the logo on it or has seen a barrel like this before? I’d appreciate any clues and look forward to solving this mystery with your help.

Smith & Wesson Victory acquired

I hadn’t planned on buying anything today, but I ran into this sitting on a shelf…. Some talking and $250 later I own it. I’m not really sure what I actually bought. It’s a .38 special, and from what minimal research tells me may have been a navy gun. It’s marked “U.S. Property G.H.D.” On the top strap. I know GHD was an inspector, from research on other guns I own. But beyond that I’d be interested to hear what people think.

386 Nightguard Comparison

Stoked I scored a new 3" model 386 Nightguard today. S&W really made a lot of sweet improvements over the original 2.5"!

- The 2.5" has a Performance Center trigger job, amd the new 3" feels.... DAMN close if not the same as the PC job, wtf!?!?!

- The 3" barrel for that tiny bit of extra oomph!

- No Hilary lock is CLEAN!

- New style front sight is really easy to pick up for me! Double pinned is kinda interesting, and I suppose extra secure.

- New rear sight is going to be fun to really dial in different loads... at least until it gets an optic, but it might not, due to the sweet Irons setup.

I am 110% happy with the new skool 386 Nightguard, Smith killed it with a very subtly improved version. I will always love my OG 386NG, the new version is everything I would legitimately have done to make a sequel. Making the new one 3" is a nice move to help the collector demo. retain their value, if you're into that kind of thing.

The only thing that would have made it cooler is if they gave it the full length pic rail treatment, *HEAVY SIGH*.

Help Identifying Old Spanish Revolver – Orbea Hermanos? Early 1900s?

Hey all,

Picked up an older revolver and trying to pin down exactly what I’ve got.

Here’s what I’m seeing:

Marked “Made in Spain”

Barrel reads: “.38 S&W Special and U.S. Service CTG’s”

Has a Smith & Wesson-style “Trade Mark” logo (obviously not original S&W)

Serial number: 247872

Visible Eibar proof marks, including crown and “PN”

6-shot, fixed sights, K-frame size

No lanyard ring on the butt

From what I’ve gathered so far, it seems like a Spanish S&W-style copy—possibly Orbea Hermanos, somewhere in the 1915–1920 range.

Condition is pretty worn with a lot of patina, but everything appears intact. I haven’t fired it yet.

Questions:

Does Orbea Hermanos sound right based on these markings?

Any way to narrow down the production year?

Would you consider this safe to shoot with standard .38 Special, or better left as a display piece?

Rough value in this condition?

Appreciate any insight—this one’s got some age on it and I’d love to learn more about it.

Am I the only one who finds these vertical lines on this metal backstrap between the grips on my model 29 to be utter torture when shooting this?

So I got this Smith and Wesson model 29-10 and when I first took it to the range shooting this made the palm of my hand feel like it being shredded apart by a cheese grater. So much so that I actually started bleeding kinda badly after about 80 rounds. Now at the time I thought this was due to the checkered pattern in the wooden grips that came with it. So I put these rubber grips onto it. Then recently I took it to the range and then I found out the problem wasn’t the wooden grips that came with it. The problem is actually those vertical lines in the backstrap. Now I could barely even make it through one cylinder due to the vertical lines in the backstrap tearing apart and shredding the skin on the palm of my hand. So I contacted Smith and Wesson about it and they just said that the guns shouldn’t cause that kind of discomfort. They wanted me to send it in to them because they said there must be something wrong with it. But you can clearly see in these provided photos that it looks like it was manufactured to their correct standards. And before you say that it’s just from recoil that’s not true since I can shoot this with no problems wearing gloves. I’ve also got a 454 Casull that kicks harder than this gun but my 454 Casull has an entirely smooth backstrap and I’m able to shoot that gun with no gloves on just fine. Now I’ve watched hundreds of videos about these Smith and Wesson revolvers and I’ve never heard anyone else complain about the vertical lines in the back straps. My question is why am I seemly the only one who takes major issue with this? Has any of you had issues with vertical lines on back straps causing a painful cheese grater effect on the palms of your hands under recoil?
