How do you support someone going through perimenopause and possible surgery?

A close family member of mine is going through perimenopause and has been dealing with ongoing irregular/heavy bleeding for a while now. Thankfully, doctors have ruled out the scariest possibilities, but they’re still doing imaging/testing to figure out the exact cause and whether surgery might eventually be recommended either a fibroid removal or a hysterectomy surgery.

I’ll admit I’m also a little anxious and probably overthinking things. The doctors don’t seem alarmed, but as a family member it’s hard not to worry when someone you care about is dealing with ongoing symptoms and the possibility of surgery. For people who’ve been through this, is this more common/manageable than it initially sounds?

What are your thoughts on St. Joseph East Hospital? Good or Bad Hospital?

How has your experience been with St. Joseph East in Lexington for surgery and inpatient care? Trying to get a feel for the hospital overall and how people felt about the staff and recovery experience.

I drive a Hyundai Elantra, and earlier this year, the front fender liner came loose after hitting ice, so I had it replaced. Now, part of the front fender or bumper area on one side is coming loose again; it’s not fully detached, but the clips don’t seem to be holding it in place. I can pull it away slightly, and it won’t stay secured.

The news said Spring 2026, but now we are a month away from the first day of summer. With that said, does anyone have any idea when it will open?

I have PCOS and insulin resistance, and honestly my biggest struggle is the belly fat. It just feels like no matter what I do, it does NOT move. I can be consistent with eating better, working out, etc., and it still feels stuck. Super frustrating.

I’m starting to think the insulin resistance piece is what I’m not fully understanding, so I wanted to ask a few things:

1. What apps are you using (if any)?
For tracking weight, food, symptoms, blood sugar, etc.
I’ve seen stuff like MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, and some PCOS-specific apps, but I don’t know what’s actually helpful vs overwhelming—especially with insulin resistance in the mix.

2. What kind of workouts actually helped you?
I’ve seen so much mixed advice:

  • weight training + walking
  • low-impact workouts
  • avoiding super intense cardio because of cortisol

For those with insulin resistance, what combo made a difference for you (especially with belly fat)?

3. Micronutrients / diet — what should I be focusing on?
I feel kind of lost here. Should I prioritize:

  • protein?
  • fiber?
  • iron?
  • something specific for insulin resistance?

If you’ve figured out ways to eat that actually helped with insulin resistance + weight loss, I’d love to hear what worked.

Also if you’ve been in that spot where your body just feels “stuck,” what finally helped things start moving?

Appreciate any insight 🙏

Does anyone know what will happen to the former Big Lots Space, Value City Furniture Space? Those spaces are pretty huge. Has anyone heard what those spaces may be used for? I am hoping for either Aldi or Trader Joe's (which I doubt, considering Meijer's, Fresh Market, Kroger, Walmart are near by). But I am curious if anyone has heard about the space so far?

So I just found out psoriasis runs in my family. My dad was recently diagnosed with a pretty severe case, and my sister has a mild version. I don’t have anything (at least not right now), but it definitely has me thinking about whether there’s anything I should be doing now.

I know you can’t fully prevent it since it’s genetic, but is there anything that actually helps lower the chances or delay it?

Main things I’m wondering:

  • Does skincare matter much here? Like are there ingredients I should avoid or stick to?
  • Is it worth switching to certain products now (gentle, fragrance-free, etc.) even if my skin is fine?
  • Are there lifestyle things that make a difference (stress, diet, etc.)?

Also planning to see a dermatologist soon — for anyone who’s done that before having psoriasis, what do they actually do? Do they give preventative advice or is it more like “come back if something shows up”?

I love sbarro's garlic ssauce out of all the pizza place I have been told. And I really want to try recreate at home, but haven't had much luck, I tried asking ChatGPT, which recommend buying things that most people I sont think have such as citric acid. I have included the photo of the ingredients label, if anyway experts in this community recreating pizza garlic sauce greatly appericated.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to check in and see if anyone has heard any updates since that Reddit post about return-to-office changes came out about six days ago.

So far, I haven’t received any official communication, and I’m trying to piece things together from what people are saying. From what I understand (and this could be off), it sounds like:

  • Not all roles are affected, but certain positions may be shifting to hybrid
  • Salaries/raises don’t seem like they’ll be frozen or negatively impacted (again, just what I’ve heard so far)
  • Also, they do not have enough office space to mandate everyone to come back to the office.

I do have a few questions I’m hoping others might have insight on:

  • Is this mainly focused on Minneapolis, or are people near other Mayo Clinic locations (like Arizona or Florida) being asked to come in as well?
  • Has anyone’s department already been told they’re going hybrid or returning to the office?

I haven’t heard anything specific about my department yet, so I’m assuming it’s business as usual unless told otherwise. Appreciate any info people are willing to share!
