What’s your “I shouldn’t have gone out today” run?
But you did anyway.
But you did anyway.
Running isn’t always easy. Some days feel strong, other days it takes everything just to lace up and head out. But somehow, we keep coming back.
So, why do you still run?
Is it for your health, your mind, the challenge, the routine, or something harder to explain?
Whatever your reason is right now, share it.
Making us runners look weak.
1st. I'm not a Nike fan. They have been a shady company for years..
2nd. Nike has always had the "be better" type of marketing slogans.
3rd. IT'S THE FREAKING BOSTON MARATHON!!!!
4th. If Nike hurt your wittle ego over this but NOT The other Effed up stuff they have done in the past then it says what type of person you are.
5th. Nike wants the front of the pack to wear their shoes.. NOT back of the back. Just like Basketball. They want the starters. Not off the bench.
6th. you half a check run fluencers are using the same BS rage bait as them to market..
My last ultra. I walked a lot. My last full Marathon.. came off an injury. Had to walk lots of the last few miles. this ad made me chuckle. why? I'm not a cry baby.
Running community- Do better.
I have been running off and on for close to 25 years. Recently I’ve been training for a marathon and even as my miles piled up everything was fine. Then after a 19 mile long run I started having knee pain that felt like what everyone describes runners knee feeling like. I hate to stop training and lose all this progress so I guess my question is what are ways that you rehab runners knee? Is there a way to train with it and not do lasting damage? Again I know a lot of people say rest but it’s like watching all the work I’ve done circle the drain when I think about resting.
Not the obvious stuff.
Hey guys! I'm running my first ever half marathon this weekend!
I've been training for ~5 months and started from ground zero. It's been going really well and I'm pretty proud of the progress I've made. However, this week leading up to the race I feel like I've hit a low. I reduced my milage this week in preparation and have been going on shorter runs (2-4miles), but have really been struggling. Before this I was doing a lot of different distances but with longer runs (10-12 miles) mixed in and was feeling great.
Overall I'm just feeling really down on myself and I think it may be more of a mental block because I'm pretty nervous for the race, but I would appreciate any last minute advice you all can share!
You don’t even notice the distance.
Instead of pushing nonstop.
A new running week is almost here.
Are you using today to rest, recover, go for an easy run, or plan out your training for the week ahead?
Any goals you’re focusing on next week?
How are you resetting this Sunday?
This poster was made for Boston Marathon this weekend. Gladly due such huge backlash, Nike took it down.
Listening to your body type moment.
How did your run go today?
Anything memorable! good, bad, unexpected, or just one of those quiet runs that felt right?
What happened out there?
i (F23) ran my first 10k race this morning, it was so fun! i trained super consistently for 15 weeks thanks to a fellow redditor creating a plan for me. i did it in 1:03:22 and placed 1st in my age category! it was so much fun and now i might sign up for a half in september hahaha
Anyone ever lost their mojo
I've been a runner for 10 years And I'm now 51 so I was a late starter.
I'm not fast etc my best marathon time was 3.23 so that's about my pace.
Anyways I've always been into long running but recently since before xmas i have just lost my mojo.
I always do long runs on a Saturday usually around 14 miles plus.
But since Xmas I've just had no motivation and it's been around 10 miles on a Saturday.
This morning I've just ran 8 miles and I'm shattered... every run is just hard and I'm exhausted.
I go out 4 times a week 3 times usually 5 miles and then the long run...
Could it just be I'm old now and this is how it's going to be?
Anyone else suffered from this? Is it just age thing?
This morning I did a long easy run, the sun was shining and I felt great.
But the rest of the day I felt like sh… I was tired, mood was low, couldn’t do all the things I planned to do, felt agitated and restless.
Does anyone recognise did?
I fuelled, drank during my run, took electrolytes after, ate after.
Some more tips to avoid this?
I know it’s probably not ideal- I know technically they can , but I’m afraid I’ll burn out or get injured more easily. I also strength train 3 x a week and swim 2 x a week (4km). My runs range from 15k-18k, but only twice a week. I know shorter intervals would probably help my pace more which would be a bonus but I mainly just run because I find a “long run” relaxing and enjoyable.. any thoughts or experiences ?
Not physical — mental.
That switch-up moment.
I listen to either hype/upbeat or depressing music during my runs depending on the mood. They both weirdly help, but in different ways. Hype songs make me really mindful of my pace, form, etc. While depressing music makes the run go by so fast, which is surprising because it also makes me last longer. Idk how it works lol, but I'm curious if music affects you like that too
Hi, I want to run the local half-marathon (all flat) in about one year. Is it possible to get down to 1h30 in that time-span? I'm currently at about 2h20.
What would the training look like? Also, is it viable to do some of the training on a bike to conserve my knees? I had some problems in the past...
