Someone is using my address to sell used socks/underwear

Someone named “Rhiannon” is using my address fraudulently as return address. I keep receiving used socks and underwear. Royal Mail said they can’t do anything about it. Any ideas? I don’t want creeps showing up at my address.

Postman won't use ring doorbell

My postie refuses to use the ring doorbell, he says the union has advised them not to use them, is this true?

What I've been doing is just using the motion notification to pick up when he comes to the door, however my door is currently boarded up, and he doesn't even come to the door now, he just marks the address as "inaccessible". I've tried picking up from my local delivery office but they just always say they've got nothing for me. Maddening!

Edit: Thank you for the responses, I believe I need "Mail Karen" flair applied to me.

Union thing is apparently true, so don't I have egg on my face. Also - I genuinely don't mind him not ringing the bell, just wondered if the union thing was true, but it is, so there we go.

The DO don't have my post because the postie hasn't got back with it yet.

I should also have specified I never expected him to wait for me with my post, just knock and move on and I'd catch up to him. But to be fair that would still be an inconvenience for him to have to stop again etc, so never mind.

I didn't know you could put a hold on your post, that's good to know. I'm going to put a temporary letterbox in the board 😅

For all those wondering - no I'm not rude to my postie, he's a nice bloke, and even if he weren't I know it's a bad idea to make an enemy out of the person who delivers your mail every day!

Ever since making a complaint about bent stamps my mails is now turning up like this.

Repost because I left identifying info in first post like a plum.

Never had an issue until the stamps and ever since my complaint my mail has been turning up like this... why do people have to be like this?

Toilet Facilities

The current state of the toilets in our delivery office is disgraceful.

No working sinks or hand washing facilities except one which is nowhere near the toilet and in the canteen where food and drinks could be made.

Does this not break some sort of employment law or something - there's been standing water in the sinks for over a week.

Can anyone make this out?

Safe place was behind the bin round the back but it’s no where to be seen?

All I can make out is boy aha which is so confusing.

Equalisation

Union rep had a “meeting” with all us newbies today and just reminded us about a letter from the cwu coming in the post. I asked him what exactly comes with this step towards equalisation and his response was 4.75% pay rise back dated and paid meal reliefs. Is this true? Because at the end of the meeting he just told us to vote yes. Honestly if what the cwu are offering is a slap in the face and we’re getting told by our union reps to “just vote yes” what else can us new entrants do?

Can you recommend affordable shoes for long warehouse shifts?

Hard workers of the UK I need your help. My partner complains of foot pain allllll the time after work. For context he's on his feet maybe 8 out a 9hr day in a fairly small warehouse mixed wood and concrete flooring. He needs steel toes although not mandatory he moves heavy crates often. His request was sturdy laces as he somehow tears and frays these, no idea how. not leather against my arguments and under £60, again I told him this was silly and the reason they last less than a year. Buy good bug once and all.

He gets a lift in n 2 out of 5 days and the rest involve a combined 1hr walk to and from train stations commuting

So posties, amazon hero's, shelf stackers and all you other wonderful lot who keep this country going let me hear your shoe recommendations, give me brands, types, materials etc

I've tried pushing him down the army navy surplus route but his aversion to leather shoes is preventing much movement there.

Any advice greatly appreciated much love

Royal Mail fake receipt?

Hi guys,

Received this pic of a Royal Mail proof of postage but it’s missing the 1st line address. Can someone confirm if this varies from post office to post office?

Thanks in advance.

They are big big packages 3 big boxes with a lot inside but still that’s why they have and and stuff

New entrants.

Just received a letter from CWU stating only new entrants after the first of June will be on 37 hour contracts.

Does this mean that those of us who are on 30 hour contracts won't receive any additional hours...?

Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

What’s the point of Tracked 24?

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that if you select and pay for a service which includes 24 in the name and a tag line that it’s - next day delivery as long as it’s dropped off before midday, to assume / rely on it getting there the next working day.

The Royal Mail website won’t allow you to make any enquires until it’s 5 days late.

Any suggestions on what to do - I’m minded to drive to Medway MC and just ask for it back so I can sen it via a different service as it’s for son’s birthday this Friday.

I knocked on the door to show that I was waiting in the hallway and was told to fuck off by a man behind the door.

The manager said the member of staff must have thought I was also staff. I did say that wasn't a good reason but they took no further action. I didn't even get an apology.

I was in complete shock so I just left it but now I feel like I should've asked for an apology.

Not what you want at 8am on a Tuesday morning.

EDIT FOR MORE CONTEXT:

Parcel office opens 08:00 - 10:00. I was collecting important prescription medication that had been there since Saturday. So yes, I was there early, but it doesn't warrant being told to fuck off 😂

my dad was treated unfairly

Hello, daughter of a royal mail worker here. My dad has just handed in his letter of resignment. Don’t ever work for this rubbish company.

My dad went to work today as usual, when approached by his manager to ask about his annual leave dates for the coming half of the year. He then said he has to take the first two weeks of August off, due to immigration reasons. What was not okay was the fact that 1. he got refused to be let off because “we can’t have too many people taking annual leave at once, we will need to shift a lot of workers, your coworker is already taking the whole August off”, 2. they demanded a reason from him and was not satisfied when he simply said “immigration reasons”, when employers are literally not entitled to knowing the reason when it’s legal annual leave dates unless voluntarily shared, 3. they also demanded evidence of the “immigration reasons” that my dad does not instantly have as he is not at home.

My dad has tried reasoning with them, saying he’ll provide the evidence by latest, the upcoming Monday. They insisted it has to be done by tomorrow. Which by the way is violating the law, as they know my dad does not speak the most fluent English, and may not be the most familiar with workers’ rights. Hence him officially quitting. Don’t ever work for these bunch of clowns of a company.

He was hardworking, delivering 100-120 packages a day when his coworkers did 60-80. Yet they demanded more and more from him.

TL;DR - My dad quit due to being unfairly treated by Royal Mail.

Edit: Flair is because I didn’t know which to put - he delivers packages under 20kg, but it’s not directly parcel force.

Business - Camera returned for US - Incorrect customs fees applied?

Hi, I sell cameras online and a camera sent to the US was damaged in transit, the buyer has returned the camera to me, with it being marked as "returned goods" on the customs document.

Now I've been asked to pay £70 to customs for this item, as I've sent 1000's of packages and dealt with returns before I know that no import fees should be due on returned goods.

Could anyone advise me on who to email / contact to get this charge removed? For example with UPS I was able to have this removed after emailing their customs department with the relevant information. The package is currently at my local delivery office. I dont believe I've received a fee card yet.

EDIT:

So ridiculously I've been told by customer support to pay the fee (including an £8 handling fee) on my own item and that I should fill out a gov form.

Not fair, new starters 37hrs

How can it be right that new starters get on 37hr contracts and no nothing about royal mail, yet I'm on 30 HR contact and know the job inside out ? I have just voted against the CWU agreement because of this.
