my dad was treated unfairly
Hello, daughter of a royal mail worker here. My dad has just handed in his letter of resignment. Don’t ever work for this rubbish company.
My dad went to work today as usual, when approached by his manager to ask about his annual leave dates for the coming half of the year. He then said he has to take the first two weeks of August off, due to immigration reasons. What was not okay was the fact that 1. he got refused to be let off because “we can’t have too many people taking annual leave at once, we will need to shift a lot of workers, your coworker is already taking the whole August off”, 2. they demanded a reason from him and was not satisfied when he simply said “immigration reasons”, when employers are literally not entitled to knowing the reason when it’s legal annual leave dates unless voluntarily shared, 3. they also demanded evidence of the “immigration reasons” that my dad does not instantly have as he is not at home.
My dad has tried reasoning with them, saying he’ll provide the evidence by latest, the upcoming Monday. They insisted it has to be done by tomorrow. Which by the way is violating the law, as they know my dad does not speak the most fluent English, and may not be the most familiar with workers’ rights. Hence him officially quitting. Don’t ever work for these bunch of clowns of a company.
He was hardworking, delivering 100-120 packages a day when his coworkers did 60-80. Yet they demanded more and more from him.
TL;DR - My dad quit due to being unfairly treated by Royal Mail.
Edit: Flair is because I didn’t know which to put - he delivers packages under 20kg, but it’s not directly parcel force.
