Length blindness? 1 year difference

Does my hair look longer? I know the ends look less full and it makes me sad. Should I cut the see through parts (to my waistband)? Had one trim in between but I also started styling with heat more often. I use heat protectant but I think it’s starting to catch up to me

Really proud of my hair

I use native shampoo and Odele conditioner once a week. I only wear it down on the weekends, the rest of the time I either braid it or wear a claw clip. I don’t use heat on it ever. I do bleach and dye it as well and every time I do that I follow it with a cholesterol cream mask.

Long hair blind?

Had a surgery five years that caused half of my hair to fall out. It’s never been the same since and I’ve tried tons of things. The bottom/longest layer is really thin, trying to decide if I should keep it fighting to get my volume back

Which hairstyle suits me the best?

Hi! The first picture is my current hair length, and I'm wondering whether I should keep it that way for now or go for a different style. I'd like some opinions on which length and style suits me more according to my face shape/overall look?

Tempted to get a full undercut

My hair is long and pretty but omg I cannot put it up in a ponytail or plait without it pulling on my head, I have thick hair and I would keep it thick I need to wear it up since I have a baby, I’ve had one before but I’ve spent four years growing it out

Is this considered long?

I know hair length is usually subjective, but would you say my hair is long or medium length?

I retire my long hair and welcome my medium hair status 💖

I have fine straight hair. I have always had long hair but I’m finally accepting that it’s just not the right choice anymore. It gets so difficult maintaining thickness at the bottom.. it looks to thin and straggly it was depressing :(

I love all you long haired beauties with thick luscious hair!! Carry the torch for me 💖🫡

Bad face framing- is this salvageable?

Does this look as bad as I think it does? I definitely did NOT want this much hair cut off in the front but she cut off chunks of hair. It looks like my hair is a completely different length in the front. Is this salvageable? I really don’t want to have to cut off too much more to have to fix this if I don’t have to, I’ve kept it long for years and would prefer to cut as little as possible

Think I could still grow that length?

Hello, I kinda wanna grow my hair like it was in the long hair pictures (5-6 years ago, at like 20/21 years old). My question is, do you think my hairline is too far gone in the recent (buzz cut) pictures in order to get that same hair again? Like, is it a maturing hairline now or? Thank you 👍👍

I can’t keep my hair hydrated?

I’ve been having trouble with my hair being too dry and can’t figure out why. I live in the northwestern US, I’ve been using suave Moroccan oil infusion shampoo and conditioner, and while the water is hot, it is no where near scalding, it’s borderline warm. I used an Aussie brand 3 minute deep conditioner, for the first time yesterday which seemed to help, but went back to its original form today. I’m not in the shower particularly long, maybe 20 minutes tops. Honestly I was kind of surprised by the curls because my hair has always been wavy, especially when it’s long… oh, and I towel dry with a regular bath towel…and then let it air dry after it stops being drippy. I am not using any other products in my hair currently. I don’t use silk pillowcases although I do have a set, same with a bonnet.

Any tips/tricks greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Breakage and split end update

I made a post prior about my hair care routine and some issues with breakage and split ends up the hair shaft. I realized pictures would be helpful. I attached one (the wavy one) where my hair is fresh out of braids and covered in hair oil 🗿uand a backlit photo from class where you can see my breakage. I *have* decided that I am going to travel back home ASAP for my brother to give me a big trim. I need to buy new conditioner (and soon enough shampoo) and what I’m using right now seems to not be ideal so I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a not super expensive conditioner and/or shampoo for very dry hair. I did look at some Redken and Moroccan oil products and am considering redken but things like Olaplex are scary expensive.

Will getting layers help to hide this?

Hey so as you can see my hair is in terrible condition, you can’t see it in normal light this much but with direct overhead light you can see it’s breaking off everywhere. I always had very long hair and my hair grows quite quickly but unfortunately I went to a bad hairdresser who fried my hair off 9 months ago. My hair grew out to my ear now but the rest is still like this. So my question is what’s the best course of action: cut layers, wait for it to grow to a bob length and cut it all off, continue to get trims and maintain similar length until I grow it out?

In worried this breakage will travel up the hair that grew back but I can’t cut it all off now as I don’t want a pixie cut! Thanks for help!

Advice welcome and a few questions.

33M. A bit over a year ago I started to try to take better care of my hair. It's pretty long and I want it to look nice. With this increase in care came me looking at it much more closely. Every few weeks/months I go through a "am I thinning/doing enough" phase. So basically, am I starting to thin out? How does my hair look from your perspective? I have had short hair for most of my life, everyone in my life also has short hair so I am more or less on my own when it comes to advice and knowledge. The growth you see here is like 5 or 6 years of no cutting, with my first cut in that time being about 5ish months ago. We took about 2 inches off.

Some relevant info - I have my hair braided most of the time. I sleep with a bonnet as well. I wash it roughly every 2-4 days. Sometimes longer if I really have nothing going on that week, very rarely do I do every day. I shampoo my scalp, sometimes twice, and only condition from the neck down. Sometimes I use a wide tooth comb for conditioner, sometimes just my fingers. Because I do keep may hair braided so often when it's time to let it out, brush it, and then wash, there can be a good amount of hair that comes out. With it being so long it looks like a LOT of hair. If I had a rough estimate it would be 10-20ish hairs in the shower, an unknown amount in my brush. That's after several days of it being braided. I do have a few pretty intense cowlicks. At the corners of my hairline, when my hair is short they essentially stand straight up against gravity. I do also have one at the crown on my head, not nearly as intense but it's noticeable when it's short. I do not know what my hair type is, I don't even really know how to find that out.

My current hair care products are VERB Ghost shampoo and conditioner. I don't use anything else. Extremely rarely do I blow dry or use any kind of heat. Really only if I need a wash and need to do something right after where I don't want wet hair. Maybe once every few months. I brush before I go into the shower trying to be gentle and working out tangles with fingers when they catch on the brush. The brush I use has decently thick wooden bristles that my stylist recommended. It seems fine but I have extremely minimal knowledge.

General tips would be great. Maybe some reassurance that I am being overly critical of my own hair. Ideally I would love to not use a bunch of products if I need. But if there's something like "oh take x vitamin its really good for hair" or "use x thing once a week" I could probably get behind that. As it stands right now my partner does the braiding on my hair. It's nice because it's a bit of a bonding time and it always feels good. If you have a recommendation of a youtube channel or something that can walk me through some beginner braids/styles I would love to do some learning on my own as well. Thank you for your time.

On my way to trim ~6 inches because of split ends, help

I haven’t been taking care of my hair for ages and months and my ends are so so dry and I have so many split ends. Do I really need to cut off the entire part :( I’m sad. My hair length is past my hips too. But I want it to look and grow healthier and take care of it better so I’m just going to cut the entire very dry part I think. My hair grows fast though…

Hair thinner

So in the end of September I began to feel faint. Got a blood test and my Vitamin D levels were incredibly low (9). Ferritin had been at 106. I was put on supplements and my levels increased, but at the time I had noticed some thinner hairs. However, I have been having periods of stress since then, with the highest happening in February. This is currently my biggest stressor and is what has been plaguing my mind.

I had noticed the parting in my scalp was looking a little more bare and so I worried and told my mom. I was recommend to try a Dandruff shampoo (since I get ocassional flakes and red bumps) to help. It has only been a week so of course, I won't notice a difference. But I did notice yesterday that all of my hair appears to be thinner than normal. I do plan to see a dermatologist as I want to get a regular checkup for my skin, but have held off on it due to money. Could this be from my high stress and recovery from low vitamin D? Could it also be my shampoo?

I have been using mise en scene Hyaluronic 5+ and the biotin shot serum, or my Prose shampoo and conditioner. This whole situation is stressing me out. 🥲

When new hair growths start blending in w the rest of hair?

so I've been having new hair growth but atm it kind of looks like my hair is just damaged and broken from the top :( but it's most definitely new growths

**I noticed it all after I took multivitamins and iron pills, plus got less stressed** I THEN STARTED NOTICING NEW BABY HAIRS AND BOOM

Now I have some new hairs at the top of my head and thankfully it's not too noticeable but it's becoming more and its starting to look like my hair is just broken at the top :/

For anyone who's had these, how long until it blended into the rest.of Ur hair?

and how to disguise them?

Dream hair

Hello everyone,

I’m writing here today bc I always dreamed of having long and thick hair. I recently got a haircut and now it’s about below my ears and I’m deciding to try to grow it thicker while it’s short! But I need help, I have fine hair and androgenic alopecia. Plus I don’t use oils anymore because my hair naturally get greasy after only one day (tried a lot of things and I’m currently thinking about trying nizoral). I wanted to try minoxidil but I have pets at home and I heard that it’s dangerous for them. I also got a dermaroll, but I’m not sure how to use it?

Do any of you have tips? I heard about the Rene Furterer triphasic but it’s reallyyyu expensive. Should I just get extensions or a wig or is there something else I can try.

I will literally try anything lol!

I appreciate the advice you guys have! 🌼

Layers might be the issue here?

Don't know how to tell you how long my hair is but I'll say that it's up to the end of the spine (I'm very tall, at least for the average woman in my country so maybe it's longer than it seems) and it's also a little wavy 〰️.

Last year I asked for long layers but I don't know if that causes the hair to turn out thinner and be more tangled (I already have thin hair but at the same time it's frizzy so it has a little "volume").

My hair is what we call here "virgin" and I don't use heat but I'll say by the frizz that maybe my own body heat might be also causing damage? I don't know haha share your thoughts ✨💇🏻‍♀️

Note: I know that by the photo we can't really say exactly how long it is but I don't have a better one rn.
