Breakage and split end update

I made a post prior about my hair care routine and some issues with breakage and split ends up the hair shaft. I realized pictures would be helpful. I attached one (the wavy one) where my hair is fresh out of braids and covered in hair oil 🗿uand a backlit photo from class where you can see my breakage. I *have* decided that I am going to travel back home ASAP for my brother to give me a big trim. I need to buy new conditioner (and soon enough shampoo) and what I’m using right now seems to not be ideal so I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a not super expensive conditioner and/or shampoo for very dry hair. I did look at some Redken and Moroccan oil products and am considering redken but things like Olaplex are scary expensive.

Breakage up hair shaft and split ends

my hair is long and is definitely due for a trim - but I feel the breakage shouldn’t be this bad. My hair is chronically dry, I don’t wash everyday, I wear my hair in twin braids for protection (usually with extra hair oil), I have a silk/satin pillowcase, And have been using chi hair silk after my showers (but recently stopped as I ran out) . I have shifted my shampoo over the years. Most recently I’ve tried great clips brand, chi, and now Monday, switched my conditioner to tresseme, and have been cheating out recently for hair care. before my last trim I would literally see split end DUST break off when I took off my hair ties. sometimes I soak my ends in coconut oil before washing. I also use redken diamond hair oil. I don’t know what to do, I will get a trim, but some of my hair is only an inch long, and I cant cut off ALL my hair. what am I doing wrong? is it really my shampoo/conditioner? Also I don’t use ANY heat on my hair.
