I cannot believe how much a round trip fare is from JFK-MCO a blue fare for 12/18-12/28 is $900 pp. I get the holiday premium is in there but that’s a bit excessive even with high fuel prices. I’m probably going to have to cancel my trip cause who the hell can afford a $3000+ cruise vacation and then an additional $3200 on flights.
Had a work trip to New York and decided to extend by one night to stay at the TWA hotel. Google reviews were mostly positive but a few complaints about food and pricing
But if you have *any* interest in aviation I’d highly recommend it. A runway view room was $450 for the night, which is expensive for an airport hotel, but this place is absolutely magical.
Room view over terminal 5 with floor to ceiling windows, which are quite thick so you can’t hear much, if anything, from the aircraft.
There’s a constellation parked outside that’s been converted into a bar. A rooftop pool and bar, with better views over the ramp.
From the time I checked in until about 10am the following morning, they were using 31R/L which meant a somewhat obstructed view of landings and rotating, but then they moved to 22R/L which meant touchdown and rotation was directly in front of the room.
Would recommend a stay if you can. Or if you have a long layover, or just arrive a couple of hours early, it’s worth visiting for the lobby/connie/roof alone.
My boyfriends crazy bm can track any time he flys. She gets notifications of his entire flights, who he’s flying with, gate and flight changes and location he flies too. She was even able to find out my information because we booked the flights together. This has happened 2 times he has flown with JetBlue. I even called JetBlue and asked if they’re allowed too or have any record of anyone calling for passengers flight info and they said no. How can she be looking this up? Any information helps!!
I just flew 3 hours in an extra leg room seat cramped against the window to try to avoid being squished against the guy in the seat next to me. He was spilling half way into each seat next to him (middle seat). How is this fair? Why don't airlines protect people from this happening? He was clearly uncomfortable too.
I’m not sure any demographic benefited more from Spirit Airlines’ low fares than New Yorkers. Who’s looking forward to paying higher prices to travel to Florida this summer?
To be clear, Spirit isn’t the only airline facing high costs. If fuel prices were truly the main issue, we’d see all airlines shutting down. Fuel costs alone don’t explain failures - Spirit’s extreme vulnerability is what made the difference.
A week ago all of July was $173 to MCO, google flights recommends waiting until May 28 to book a flight for August, but I think thats going to be a bad idea..
Do I wait or just book now? (Blue $188).
I fly in and out of Boston 2-3x/month. Every time I land in Boston (9 out of last 10) it takes an act of god to get the jet bridge to move. People have to come out, over ride the security, and nudge it up. Embarrassing honestly.
I guess it doesn’t matter when you still have to wait 50+ mins for your checked bag.
I recently flown out of JFK terminal 5. It was a crap show. Beyond the unorganized TSA the food options was the worst part.
They utilize a cafeteria style company that caters the food court and charge $20+ for low quality frozen food. Im talking prison or public school quality food. There is a burger "vendor" called CUSTOM BURGERS that sells a $20 dollar burger, fries and drink combo. The burger patty taste frost bitten and is almost inedible. I was furious to be charge over 20 bucks for a patty that was source for less then a dollars.
I'm saying this coming from someone who enjoys cheap fast food on the go.
I asked one of the jetblue help desk if there was any name brand food options in the terminal. Their response? "No sir, we only house small business vendors"
^ that is a complete lie. They utilize a food catering company.
Seems small, but this really brings down the quality of jet blue and their offerings.
JetBlue to make adjustments to its crew bases in light of Spirit liquidation. FLL and SJU will double in size. JFK to see 10% cut in favor of BOS. MCO, EWR, and LAX each getting cut by 30%.

Has anyone dealt with this with JetBlue/Expedia before?
I booked flights through Expedia and paid for seats at the same time. The seat charges showed up as pending transactions in my Chase account, but the seats never appeared on my JetBlue reservation.
I called JetBlue this morning and they told me the flights themselves are confirmed, but the seat selections were never actually confirmed on JetBlue’s end even though Expedia processed them. They said they can see that I attempted to purchase seats, but there’s “no record” of the completed transaction on their side.
The JetBlue rep told me the charges are still pending and will most likely fall off/refund back to my account, but in the meantime I have to repurchase the seats directly through JetBlue if I want to keep seats together. So now I’m out another $84 while waiting for the original $84 to hopefully come back.
She also told me I may need to dispute the original transaction with Chase if it doesn’t automatically reverse.
Has anyone experienced this before? How long did it take for the pending charge to disappear or for the money to go back into your account? Did you actually have to dispute it with your bank?
Hit M4 again and again left wondering what the benefits are. Yes a couple "move to mint" certs, which are nice, but you don't board separate from other M's; and "pick a perk" selections for M4 are surprisingly bad vs earlier tiers. Founders Club is absolutely worthless; waiver of a pet fee or gifting tiles to some other account seem a paltry payoff. Wish B6 did a better job catering to biz travelers...
Obviously this leaves a lot of capacity at FLL and MCO to be absorbed, but given jetBlue’s precarious financial state, can they afford to take advantage of this opportunity? On the other hand, with UA possibly looking to expand in South Florida, not to mention DL already having a large presence at MCO, can they afford *not* to?
A significant number of A320s and A321s will soon be available from Spirit due to the shutdown, which would help - if jetBlue can afford them.
Unfortunately, Spirit’s customer base - leaves a lot to be desired and doesn’t exactly sync up with the level of fares jetBlue charges. But beggars can’t be choosers, especially beggars that are on the verge of bankruptcy themselves…
I'm going to get to Mosaic 3 this year, How do the mint upgrades work? Not sure if I should switch at Mosaic 2 and change my gold Delta AMEX to a higher level. Any advice and if there is a better card experience where I can get into centurion clubs flying with any airline, please let me know.
Flying in those new mint seats 💺 (domestic mint, if it helps)
Do you think they’ll let me pass with the duffle bag as my personal item?
I do have up to two checked bags free with the mint ticket, but I would prefer not to check a bag.
Just a bit of a rant. Booked flights 6 months out, JetBlue changed the layovers for the whole month of March for my and my bf destinations to arriving in Boston in the morning and not departing to our destination in the nighttime.
And to change to a better layover time with United is 200$ which is of course not really worth it though we booked flights planning to not be in this situation. I get schedules change but damn it’s annoying thinking about a 10.5 hour layover between connecting flights.
Also annoying that partner airlines charge for the fare difference. Probably is normal but still ughhh
I put together a quick video walking through what actually happened to Spirit Airlines.
There’s a defense JetBlue could’ve used called the “failing firm defense” - that says if a company is going to die anyway, letting a competitor buy it isn’t really reducing competition. Almost nobody wins it, because you have to walk into court and prove you’re dying. Spirit’s executives told the court the opposite.
Two years later, they couldn’t survive.
