Paid for Seats Through Expedia, JetBlue Says They Were Never Confirmed — Now I Have to Pay Twice

Has anyone dealt with this with JetBlue/Expedia before?

I booked flights through Expedia and paid for seats at the same time. The seat charges showed up as pending transactions in my Chase account, but the seats never appeared on my JetBlue reservation.

I called JetBlue this morning and they told me the flights themselves are confirmed, but the seat selections were never actually confirmed on JetBlue’s end even though Expedia processed them. They said they can see that I attempted to purchase seats, but there’s “no record” of the completed transaction on their side.

The JetBlue rep told me the charges are still pending and will most likely fall off/refund back to my account, but in the meantime I have to repurchase the seats directly through JetBlue if I want to keep seats together. So now I’m out another $84 while waiting for the original $84 to hopefully come back.

She also told me I may need to dispute the original transaction with Chase if it doesn’t automatically reverse.

Has anyone experienced this before? How long did it take for the pending charge to disappear or for the money to go back into your account? Did you actually have to dispute it with your bank?
