Found a piece of broken glass in a frozen sausage patty from Aldi

I just bit into a cooked frozen sausage patty from Aldi, and felt something hard in my mouth. At first thinking it was a bone (as is very commonly found in ground sausage), I was warning my fiancée of this as I fished it out of my mouth, and when i pulled it out, found that it was actually a piece of broken glass, large enough that there was printed text visible on it. How should I go about reporting this?

Raw Chicken storage

my roommate left raw chicken on paper towels exposed in the fridge overnight. I don't eat meat but common sense tells me it should at least be in a tray or plate right? It's above my produce drawer and the paper towels became damp and were touching my seltzer cans
Am I overreacting that it seems really unsanitary?

Is it ok to eat these blueberries?

Hello all. I am driving across the country and I got some frozen blueberries (Trader Joe's organic wild blueberries) and I put them in a small cooler. I had put some hotel ice cubes and an ice pack in there, I also got some carrots.

They were in the cooler (which was room temp before I put the ice in, the ice was there for about 30 minutes before I got the blueberries) for around 7 hours. When I got them out at my next hotel they were soft but the ice pack and the ice were still frozen. I did move some ice and they ice pack on top of them.

I read that thawed frozen fruit is bad to eat, is it ok to eat these since they were in a cooler? I moved them to the hotel freezer as soon as I got to my room.

What is this Brown powdery substance inside a date

I just took a bite of a date, and a brown powdery substance puffed out. Inside the date there is a ton of it. What is it?

Fridge forgot it was a fridge lol

My fridge has been acting up so we got this thermometer to keep track of temperature. The food was above 40 degrees for almost exactly 4 hours. But it didn’t get above 45. Would we think food still ok?

Safety of Chick-fil-a chicken sandwich left out?

Bf got a chick-fil-a chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon and only took one bite and left it in the metal paper bag it comes in for 3.5 hours while we were out. Came home and he wanted to eat it even though I advised against it as it was over 2 hours in the “danger zone”, he still wanted to eat it and threw it in the air fryer for 4 minutes at 400°f. I get conflicting answers on safety as the CDC says no longer than 2 hours, but i’ve seen people say food is safe up to 4 hours? Should I have pushed harder to not let him eat it??

Suspicious cut in banana

Hello all, I bought this banana yesterday, and noticed a weird square cut out of one on the bananas, looks glued shut in the second photo, and cut in half it has a mushy spot where the incision was made. Is this some sort of quality control? Not eating it or the other bananas out of general caution. Has anyone seen this? Apologies if this is common knowledge about quality control or something.

Opened canned asparagus, ate a few before noticing something was wrong

So today I bought canned green asparagus, opened it and the lid did noise as it opened, just like *any normal can would*. I ate a few (they looked fine and tasted okay, though it was my first time eating canned asparagus instead of fresh ones). Then I took one out the can and it looked quite funny, with the little whites dots on it. I checked the lid too and was quite surprised to see moldy looking stains. Anyways, I’m pretty sure I have to throw it away, but I just was wondering what I risk from eating them, and if I should remove them from my stomach.

Defrosting

Today my girlfriend wanted to make burgers for us and sometimes she is really lax with food safety

The short version is she wanted to hurry the defrosting and I've showed her the right way to do this with dripping water in a sealed package in the past.

When I got home the burgers were in the walmart package sitting in the sink. The package had a hole in it and the water was getting into the meat. To make things worse the sink hadn't even been cleaned there was old pepperoni and noodles in the strainer.

Can someone please explain to her that this is 100% not okay. If I'm overreacting please correct me.

Does this look like a spice segment or an insect leg? White, 3ish cm long, found in my chicken malai special.

This is the only piece that I found. The dish generally doesn't have any solid ingredients apart from meat cubes, so this piece stood out while I was eating.

I've never seen a white insect leg, but it looks suspicious.

Potatoes wet in their bag for a week?

Hey!

No photo since the bottom of the bag was wet and that's self explanatory. They've been in their bag for 8 days which is when I bought them. Are they fine to use since they've been WET for that long? Not sure if I discard or what.

Thanks.

Papaya safety?

TLDR:I know nothing about Papayas. The end appears to have fuzzy mold & there is also an exposed cut in the papaya. Picture 3 shows the cut. Is it safe(especially for kids!) to eat?

My son has been wanting us to buy a papaya FOREVER. He ‘graduates’ from preschool tomorrow so I thought it would be a fun snack. I had to do a curbside order due to various reasons & this is the papaya they gave me. It appears to have fuzzy mold where the stem was & a nick in the outer skin. Is it unsafe to eat? Ideally, it would be eaten by a 12 month old as well as the older kiddos. I’ve never purchased or cut a papaya on my own (honestly I didn’t realize they are so BIG!) Any advice on this papaya & what to keep a lookout for if I have to go replace it tonight once everyone’s in bed? Thanks so much!

Changing tongs/spatula after touching raw meat?

Let’s say I throw in some raw chicken wings in the oven (or burgers in a pan). Then I go to flip it. The utensil has now touched the raw side. Should I technically swap it for a different utensil because if I go to serve the food wouldn’t the raw meat have tainted the utensil?
