About to upgrade to a new 5090 pc, looking for good monitor suggestions that aren't OLED/QLED

For context, i use my pc for gaming for at least 8 hours a day, thats why im against oled monitors as the burn in would settle in far quicker than id like. id still like the monitor to be 4k and have high hz overall, maybe a dualmode type monitor with higher hz on UHD but lower on 4k? im not totally sure to be honest, any recomendations would be appreciated!

NEO G7 4k mini-led on sale for $350 with EPP/student discount

In case anyone is interested - this is an absolute bargain imo if you have an EPP / student account with Samsung.

I was on the fence originally, but pulled the trigger. Needed something decent for stalker 2, metro exodus like FPS shooters while not being ready yet to spend $900-1100 on 4k qd-oled panel.

Current sale price is $750, they just give you an extra $400 off on top if you have a qualified account plus free Resident Evil Requiem after registering the product. So essentially you are getting one of the best mini-leds out there for less than $300.

looking to upgrade my monitor

currently i have a random chinese amazon brand monitor “z-edge” i paid about $120 for it and it runs 240hz and its a 24.5”, however i absolutely hate it. my old monitor was a prechen, what i think is another random amazon brand but i actually really like that monitor it was also 240hz and the same size but the screen got broken and they no longer sell it.

my issues with my current monitor are that the color is just NEVER right no matter what i do, i mainly play rdr2 on my pc but i also use it for gta on my ps5. the colors are always way too dark or super washed out ive tried nearly every combination with the settings and just nothing looks right. the most tolerable setting i can get it on is still way too dark because whenever i play j can barely see anything inside shadows its just pitch black, which also keeps my from being able to play at nighttime during either game (mostly rdr2, which sucks because im going for platinum and 100% game and compendium completion)

im not sure if i should go with a 4k monitor or a 240hz, rd and gta are really all i play but i do like my red dead graphics to run very high and well which is important to me, but i have never played on a 4k monitor and im not sure how much of a difference i will

notice. Im only looking to spend around $300 which i know isnt a lot when it comes to monitors but its all i can do and would just like to get something better for at least the meantime.

Recommendations for 27-inch 1440p IPS monitor with > 60hz + KVM for work and light gaming

Need some opinions here. I currently have a 27" VP2770 LED IPS 60hz monitor from 2014. It has started to have some faint flickering when using the DisplayPort input, so I would like to upgrade. 90% work use and 10% light gaming. So clarity of text is very high priority. Requirements are as follows

  • IPS
  • 27"
  • 1440p (not 4k because I don't have card that can drive 4k for gaming)
  • 120hz or greater
  • KVM (have PC and Mac)

The following two options seem to check all these boxes:

  1. Dell UltraSharp U2724DE (~$500-600)
  2. ASUS ProArt PA278CGRV ($300)

The UltraSharp seems to have decent reviews but I can't find much of anything on the PA278CGRV. Does anyone have experience with this one? I would like to know how well the KVM works on this. It's also half the price of the UltraSharp so curious what makes the UltraSharp worth twice as much. Any other recommendations matching these requirements?

I’m looking for some advice on a monitor upgrade.

I currently use a Samsung Odyssey G3 and mainly play Warzone on PS5.

I found the Samsung Odyssey G50F 27” QHD IPS monitor on sale for €170, and I’m wondering if it would actually be a worthwhile upgrade for console gaming.

Would I notice a real improvement in visibility, clarity, and overall image quality in Warzone compared to the G3 on PS5?

Or are there better alternatives around the same price range that would make more sense for PS5 gaming?

Any real-world experiences or suggestions would be appreciated.

I hate how dark scenes look on my Ultragear 27GR83Q-B monitor, what would be a reasonable upgrade in the same price range?

Originally I got a GIGABYTE M27Q Monitor and I REALLY liked it. I returned it due to a lot of dead pixels (common problem apparently). Then I got an LG Ultragear 27GR83Q-B since it had great reviews and was easy to find.

I immediately noticed the image wasn't as good as the Gigabyte but decided to keep it since it didn't have any dead pixels.

After several years with it I'm sick of it. Its very washed out and no amount of tinkering with the settings seems to fix it. The problem is that in any remotely dark scenes I have to squint and strain to see anything. EX: night or caves in the witcher 3 or the oblivion remake. Which are FAR from being actually dark.

I think the issue is a combination of horrific backlight bleed, and light being reflected off the screen despite it being a Matte finish.

I'm going to make a comment to this post where I'll share a picture where you can see just how washed out it looks compared to the cheap msi PRO MP275Q I have set up to work off of.The LG monitor is the one thats closer. Even though the focus is off I think you can clearly see how much more depth the cheapy monitor has.

I want to get a new monitor that doesn't have this problem, but I don't like how text is harder to read on OLED displays (plus you know, OLED is super expensive). I love the motion clarity on this monitor.

What monitor should I buy for my partner?

He connects his computer to his monitor. He used to have two monitors but one of them broke so should I get him 2 new medium sized ones or just 1 bigger monitor. He plays deadlock, league of legends, and rocket league I think! ALSO maybe anything else that might make his gaming experience better? If you could provide links to best buy or reputable tech stores it would be helpful thanks!

edit: He currently uses an ASUS 144Hz monitor paired with an RTX 3060 laptop, and he usually plays games at 1080p resolution. His preferred monitor specs are 144Hz or higher, a 1ms response time, and a screen size of at least 21 inches! my budget is max 1k

Choosing a Budget Monitor

So I've been using 2 Acer G235H for like over 10 years now and one of them died. I'm kind of particular about both monitors matching and I'm out of a job atm so I'm not looking for some budget options.

To make matters more complicated, I live in Japan. Maybe it's because of being in Japan, or maybe it's just been too long, but I don't recognize the brands or a lot of the specs I'm looking at. My goal is to find something under ¥20,000, although it's not a hard rule.

Current system:
Monitor: 2 Acer G235H
GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13400F (2.50 GHz)
Ram: 64.0 GB (63.8 GB usable)

What I'm currently looking at:
MSI MAG 242C (¥12,800)
KOORUI G2411X (¥16,800)
KOORUI GN02 (¥17,800)
KTC H25T7 (¥15,980)
KTC H27T22C (¥23,731)

Friend's recommendation (which I suspect is actually ChatGPT's):
Xiaomi G24i (¥15,980) + Xiaomi A24i (¥11,980)

Any thoughts, recommendations, or whatever would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I'm kind of spinning my wheels here.

What i do?

Hello dear. I work from home as a network engineer, I had a 4k monitor that was great for work, but I fell for the high refresh rate hype and ended up selling it and buying a 1080p 180hz monitor. Now I'm wondering if I should force my eyes to get used to the jagged letters and low-definition games by keeping this 1080p monitor that cost me very little (US$126) and later buy a second screen like it, or return it and buy a 27" 1440p 210hz monitor (US$280) or a WQHD 34" 180hz monitor (US$360). Any ideas?

Suggest me an ultrawide 1440p OLED value-for-money monitor for 50% work (mostly Excel, PowerPoint), 25% media, and 25% gaming.

I am interested in a single monitor setup that serves equally well for both gaming and professional tasks, as well as for entertainment such as movies and shows.

My primary gaming interests lie in story-driven AAA titles, including games like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, Mafia, Ghost Recon, Far Cry etc. However, approximately half of my time is dedicated to office work, predominantly using Excel and PowerPoint. I currently own an MSI 342CQR E2 and am considering an upgrade. My PC specifications include a 7900xtx graphics card and a 9800x3d processor.

I am seeking a value-oriented OLED ultrawide monitor, with a minimum size of 34 inches.

Looking to upgrade my Monitor

My birthday is coming up so I wanted to treat myself to a new monitor.

I currently have the AOC CU34G2XE 3440x1440p 144hz monitor, being played on a 5070 TI GPU

My issues with the monitor is that the picture clarity just doesn’t look all that great compared to when I hook it up to my 4k Qled Tv.

Can you amazing people advice me on monitors with best picture clarity.

I don’t want issues of seeing jagged edges depending on the angle I’m looking at the screen or the camera angle of the game.

I don’t want to see black marks on the edges of every detail in a game.

I don’t want to see smearing or ghosting.

You amazing ppl that’s experience amazing crystal clear fidelity I am awaiting your responses 😌.

The options:

- Refresh Rate 75 or below

Sorry if this isn’t too much to go on, I’m kind of a noob at this stuff.

Looking for 27 inch monitor for movies and work. Budget is around $500

I am looking for a 27 inch monitor for watching movies and regular work. I am eyeing Alienware - AW2725D but it's glossy. I need semi-glossy or matte. Would that affect the black levels? I want to be able to watch dark movies with deep blacks. Thanks. I have microcenter and bestbuy nearby.

what monitor choose ?

Hello, I've been researching various monitors (a list with over 20 models) and trying to find reviews and analyze the information, which has been quite complicated. However, I managed to narrow the list down to my 3 favorites and I'm really undecided. I would like some opinions. These 3 monitors have different characteristics.

1 - TCL 27G64 Mini-LED

27 inches

QHD

180 Hz

A good mini-LED monitor, with plenty of information available and excellent black quality. It has few brightness zones, around 180, but, being a VA panel, its contrast and software provide excellent black tones with little light leakage.

2 - ASUS TUF VG34WQML5A

34 inches

WQHD

250 Hz

A different monitor, this one has a VA panel, ultra-wide QHD and 250 Hz, from a very reputable brand in the market. Great features, and I currently own an ASUS TUF Gaming VG259, so I have a lot of affection for this brand, as it's by far the best monitor in terms of contrast and color that I've ever seen. I was undecided between it, the Ultra Gear, and the AOC Agon, but this is the best of the three.

3 - SuperFrame Wing Mini-LED

27 inches

4K - FHD

165 Hz - 330 Hz

This is the most controversial; it has the fewest reviews and is from an unofficial brand. I saw that it has the same panel as the KTC M27P6, a relatively well-known monitor. I only found one review of it, and it was compared to a C6K TV. It has approximately 1000 lighting zones, but the software is quite weak, and it's an IPS panel, so there's more noticeable light leakage, even though it's 4K...

Among these 3, I personally much prefer the SuperFrame Wing. If it were from a reputable brand, I would buy it immediately. However, it has very few reviews and is from a very bad brand on the market. I already had a SuperFrame, which was quite cheap. I didn't have problems with ghosting or black blur, but the colors, even being IPS, were very faded and tended towards green in the corners. It didn't even come close to the quality of my Asus TUF.

And between the Asus TUF and the TCL, I personally, if both are QHD, would go for the ultrawide with a higher refresh rate, even if it means lower image quality.

ASUS ROG Strix XG259CS - is this a good choice for 1080p / 24.5"?

Building my first PC after years of laptops. Think this refurbished monitor is a good choice?

ASUS ROG Strix XG259CS (24.5" 180Hz) 112€ refurbished / 226€ new
1000:1 contrast, 110% sRGB, 400 cd/m^(2), 5.9kg

  • PROS: stand seems very solid and stable with good build quality (see this video by a japanese reviewer), good colours, USB port + headphone jack
  • CONS: heavy! (5.9kg), no speakers, AI features I don't care about (hopefully can be disabled)
  • possibly too bright? 400 cd/m^(2) vs my current 324. I imagine this is adjustable

Spain. Budget is 100-200€.

  • IPS. No larger than 25" / 1080p. (May upgrade later, but for now that's my choice and I'm sticking with it.)
  • Colour fidelity + good blacks (hobbyist artist).
  • FreeSync or Adaptive Sync (AMD graphics)
  • adjustable height
  • don't need more than 144Hz, and lower is also fine (upgrading from 60Hz so even 100Hz will be huge - don't play competitive games)
  • Currently using an ASUS ROG GL502VS laptop, pretty decent screen. (15.6" IPS, sRGB 90 %, contrast ratio 1020:1, brightness 324 cd/m^(2))

Other options:

  • ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QL5A (24.5" 200 Hz) 119€ on sale/129€ full
    • 99% sRGB, 1000:1 contrast, 300 cd/m², 4'9kg
    • Pros: FreeSync + GSync, good quality stand
    • Cons: large stand, one reviewer mentioned the brightness may fall short in brightly-lit environments, another reviewer criticised "light leakage + IPS glow" though that might just be an IPS thing. AI features (again)
  • AOC 25G4SXU (24.5" 310Hz) 179/209€
    • 115% sRGB, 1000:1 contrast, 400 cd/m2, 4'7kg
    • Pros: Adaptive Sync + Gsync. Colour
    • Cons: no speakers, price. Don't need that high a refresh rate
  • MSI PRO MP245P (23.8" 100Hz, Adaptive Sync)
    • 102% sRGB, 1:1300 contrast, 4.6kg
    • Pros: at my local shop, eco-friendly (or claims to be), speakers
    • Cons: cannot find official info on the -P model specifically; marketed for business (will it still be good for games?), bit smaller than the other options

I don't know, my brain is melting. Please help. (I quite like the first one but have been staring at screens for hours.)
