A mild depression after visiting Mammut and Mountain Equipment website

Contrary to the post topic I dont want it to be arcteryx is this and that now after being sold to this and that kinda conversation.

I still consider Arcteryx being a serious outdoor brand and I just can't understand why there's just a lack of diversity in technical pieces.

For example Mammut and ME both have like 6-7 fleece types and they all for diferent use cases (types of material, diferent weights etc)while arcteryx only has the delta (i don't consider Kyanite and covert as being outdoor oriented. The same situation is in down and synthetic layers - diferent models with different characteristics and fill weights while Arcteryx only has the Atom and the Atom and 2 proton models.

I really dont understand the lack of options for mountaineering and alpine climbing in the lineup.

What’s the best way to glue the bottom hem(?) back onto the shell?

Title. Jacket has been broken for a while but am thinking this is a somewhat easy fix?

got my snowboard jackets and pants fixed

so a while back I posted about my jackets coming apart at the zippers.

https://www.reddit.com/r/arcteryx/s/iotFlKwSfS

decided to send 3 of my jackets and an older Iser snowboard pants in for repair. the seamstress did an absolutely fantastic job. she colour matched and used very fine and thin stitches.

she essentially sewed over almost all the seams and zippers areas. she even double lined the zipper sections for added strength.

it cost a pretty penny but imo totally worth it considering the amount I spent on this gear. feels like these shells will last a whole lot longer now.

Gamma hoody 2024

Recently  bought a gamma hoody (Lt) and my thoughts so far is that it's a 7/10. Blocks wind out farely well however if you've got the pockets unzipped, wind will instantly go into there and then the entire jacket will feel cold.

I like the breathability of it though and how it doesn't make me sweat like hell during hot seasons.

third is the decent water resistant however not great for staying out for a little bit as it does tend to wet out quickly even with the best DWR. Has enough room to layer a fleece or an atom lt underneath and not being snug on the body.

Overall it's a decent soft shell that's good for summer on its own and decent for winters with a underlayer. however there are much better soft shells that are much cheaper as this being over £200 really isn't worth it if your thinking of something more affordable as mountain warehouse has some good hard and soft shells for way cheaper. But the main thing I like is just the hood 😊.

Full zip or pullover Delta?

I made a post a few days ago about the Delta, I got good feedback and I have decided to buy one. The thing that has been holding me back, for days, is whether to get the full zip (Delta Hoody) or the pullover (Delta Pullover).

Primarily use for high output activities, I'm hesitant to say extreme as I know I'm not one of the real badasses out there, but best description of exertion I would be doing while wearing one would be as if I was trying to chase down a greyhound, dog not bus. I like to do sprints and high intensity trail running in the cold, then chill out at a breakfast diner afterwards before I go home, shower, then pass out.

For my other active activities I normally wear a jacket with a full zip and pockets, but aren't these Delta's at best a mid layer and stand alone? If I was going to wear this under say my Beta LT or Rush, I don't need the pockets then do I? Also, will the full zip be inconvenient when I'm doing sprints or high intensity runs? This is why I'm leaning towards the pullover. I'm also traveling 2-3 times a year for family, I'd like to wear this as a stand alone on flights and layovers and I think not having a full zip would feel more comfortable. Before the Delta I was using the regular R1 but hate the scuba hood that sips up to my lips, which is when I looked into the Delta. For trail running I carry a fanny/hip pack backwards light enough to hold my phone, wallet, and keys.

Was this a fine choice?

Hello out there fellow arcteryx enjoyers,

So i've never owned a piece of arcteryx before, but suddenly came to some money, so i decided now was the time. I live in Denmark, where it gets down to -10 degrees, hard winds and tough rains, so i decided to buy; Atom SV Jacket for colder days (and potentially inner laner, can this work)? And a Beta Jacket for the rainy/windy days. Was this a solid purchase? Did i do good, or is this bad?

I was also thinking of using the Beta Jacket as single layer for warmer summer days with just a T-shirt under, is that possible - or is that bad in the Beta?

Picture for purchase:

Walked in for a cleaning service and walked out with a brand new Beta AR

Brought my 2024 Beta AR for an end of winter wash and told me it would take 15 days because everyone’s bringing theirs in for a wash.

As they were inspecting my jacket, they found deterioration in the pocket lining and darkening on the inside of my jacket in the same spot. They said it was delamination and offered me store credit for a new one.

A win win cause now I don’t have to wait for the 15 days turnaround.

Arcteryx UK Outlet store

Has anyone been to the Arcteryx UK Outlet store located in Bicester village. I am looking into buying a Shell jacket (Beta LT/AR) and I was hoping if I could find a good deal there.

Just a positive warranty story (Canada)

It's a boring story but I'm glad to see that the Arcteryx warranty still treats me well. I've done warranties in the past but this is the first in the past couple of years so I was a bit apprehensive looking at all the negative stories.

My 2020 Beta LT delaminated a bit in the back, so it's just about 6 years old. Brought it to the store, they confirmed it, and handed in a form for me then told me to wait for the response. The email came 2 days later giving me the full 600$ credit (with tax additional as well), and I just had to drop it off in store. Whole process took 3 days total.

Since I still have a spare shell from OR that is still perfectly good, I can now use the credit to strengthen my other aspects of my gear set up!

Melbourne winter: Is the Arc’teryx Atom SV too warm as a standalone city jacket?

Hi, I’m in Melbourne and I’m looking at the Arc’teryx Atom SV. I want to use it mainly as a standalone winter jacket, but I’m not sure if it would be too warm for Melbourne or a good fit for that use.

  1. I’d mainly use this jacket for city wear in winter, like everyday casual use, commuting, and walking around. I’d also use it occasionally for skiing, around once a year.

  2. I live in Melbourne, so the climate is cool to cold in winter, but not extreme most of the time. I want something that works well as a standalone winter jacket here, with the option to use it for the occasional ski trip.

  3. I’d say I run pretty neutral, and I prefer a normal fit rather than something very slim or very loose.

Would you say the Atom SV works well as a standalone winter jacket for Melbourne, or is it overkill?

lol reddit keeps removing my post cause its not in “question” format

New Cormac Hoody sun protection?

Just noticed the revised Cormac Hoody no longer has a UPF rating like the older one which was 40+. Has anyone done any testing to confirm if the sun protection in fact got worse?

Better alternatives for Atom Lt Hoody? Can be a different brand as well.

I have the Atom Lt for a while, but it kinda is too cold for me during spring and most of the fall and of course to warm during summer. Maybe its too cold because its not the best protection against even slight wind.

I am also not using it for actuve movement, mistly ealking around and being static.

Any sugestians?

Is there something like a soft shell wind jacket(hoody)?

A Frame Ski Carry w/ Alpha FL20

Hey all,

I've got a backcountry ski trip and climbing trip in Oregon coming up, and I was wondering if these spare part ski carry straps from Samaya would be able to attatch to the loops of my FL20? I get that this would be a less than ideal set up but I'm just trying to make due with what ive got.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Can you recommend a summer jacket that can be used for hiking in the summer in Northern Europe and as an everyday jacket?

Is the Delta equivalent to the regular Patagonia R1 or R1 air? Delta for sprints?

I'm looking for a jacket to sprint in during the cold weather. I have the regular R1, and I like the fit except of the hood that zips past the chin. I don't mind sweating, played sports in all four season and weather, so the R1 was hot but it was great. I'm reading that the Delta is more (and possibly most lightweight?) lightweight than the R1, which might be a nice contrast. I'd use this for primarily high output activities as a stand alone, sprints or fast runs especially. I know something like the Airshed Pro would be better for sprints.

Proton SL Durability

I’ll be wearing it under a bib and shell jacket to ski. I got it in the mail the other day & am concerned that the bib straps are going to rip right through the SL. Has anybody used the Proton SL with bib straps???

Thanks!

Sabre Jacket + Bib Delamination

I bought this Sabre Jacket and Bib 2 weeks ago from Arcteryx Outlet, wore them both for 6 days skiing, washed using Nu Technical Detergent on 40 degrees, dried for 45 minutes. Came out like this. Have I done something wrong or is the jacket defective? Very upset.

Arcteryx vs Patagonia vs Montbell - arm hole height

I own several Arc pieces, two down hoodies (Cerium LT and Thorium, both Large), a Beta LT hardshell (Large) and a Delta LT fleece (Medium), last week I got the Squamish (Large). On all of them I have an issue with the arm hole height and the stitch line digging into my arm pits, it's not the end of the world, but it's bloody annoying and I'm noticing it more and more. First jacket I got was the Thorium and that felt super roomy back then (few years ago), but I noticed recently that the arm holes are pretty high on it as well. The Beta I have is a Large and very very roomy, no issues with the arm holes on that one (sleeves are crazy long though), the Delta LT is also fine, arm holes are cut high, but it's pretty stretch so doesn't do anything bad. Cerium LT is probably on par with the Squamish, although might be worse as it's insulated and there's simply a bit more material under the arm pits. The weird thing with this arm hole cut is the fact that sometimes it's not annoying, not sure if it's how the material folds itself under the arm, or whether it's what I wear under (it's typically a long sleeve sweat top which is pretty slim), but sometimes it simply goes away and I'm happy. Most of the time it doesn't though...so I'm looking to sell some of the pieces and swap to a different manufacturer.

Has anyone here compared arm hole height between Arc and Pata or Montbell? I do love the aesthetic of Arc and overall cut, so it's a massive shame (I got half the stuff used), but I don't think I can get over the arm hole fit.

Note: I'm rather slim and tall, 6'5" / 82kg (180lbs) and have very little muscle on my chest, so I'm super surprised the arm holes are an issue (and btw I love high cut armholes as the range of movement is great), on top of everything I'm usually wearing Large sizes, so how do other people fit in those is beyond me.
