For around $10 on Amazon this is a great find! You get like 12 of these magnetic alligator clips, even in the last photo not all are on the base. If you want to find them just search Magnetic Hobby paint stand on Amazon. There are a few different options so one might fit you better than this one! Can’t wait to see the other SATT’s today!
Okay this is a short clip on the glues I use. I am not a video making guy, so just roll with it. Also, I forgot to put in the video, the Tamiya applicator does extend to reach the bottom of thr jar.
SATT (share a tip tuesday)
Look forward to seeing tips from others
It’s Revell 1/24 kit. Not much detailed, easy kit. I challenge myself on the body paint with several colored zones. I change from white Kaleido to white Vallejo which have a better coverage and will be ok for a vase. I used Ak fine primer black. I prefer the gray one the paint attach better.
I’m a model kit builder in western WA. Was just curious if anyone knew of any competitions I could enter. Thank you!
I’ve just finished this Toyota and used a really small bit of tape to hold the body to the chassis while the glue dried during final assembly, but after removing the tape it lifted the decal even after I had applied 3 or 4 coats of MrColor clear. Is that normal for clear coat, do I just need to be more careful in future?
First scale model I’ve built in 30 years, so I’m basically learning from scratch!
I posted this about a year ago…
Tamiya 1966 beetle model kit
Get this thing so low for the people that want the slammed look. So on the front beam I cut it in half and trimmed each side until it was perfectly narrowed, then glue the pieces back together. Finally carefully bent the link arms up until perfect height. The rear spring plates I cut a small line (do not cut completely in half) and move up the axle part where the hub/wheel goes, then I glued it in place. Used tamiya fine cement since it dries super fast and clean. Then I used crager wheels and tires from the 1964 impala lowrider kit and topped off with original vw caps
Great kit, really fun build. Finished with Splash Paints Valencia Orange.
I’m torn on this kit.
On one hand, I absolutely love how it turned out, and it’s super cool. All the parts are really nice, little to no flash etc.
On the other hand, the instructions for this kit where the worst I’ve seen so far (this is only my forth kit however). The 300+ parts are not numbered in the directions, so you have to use the picture and find it on the spree tree. And not all the photos make the size obvious. Multiple times I thought I was looking for a much larger part or vice versa.
The frame rails, and every panel for the dump bed was warped and took multipul boiling water dunks to get them into a usable state.
All said and done, I enjoyed most of the time I spent working on this over the last 3 weeks. Only part I actively didn’t have fun on was the mirrors. I ended up not using the top support brackets for them, just wanted to be done with them.
Finished off the last few modifications to the chassis yesterday and laid down a light coat of white primer.
It's highlighted a couple small areas that need more filler which I've applied.
Hoping to have this in paint soon.
Anyone ever use Tamiya XF paints as a 2 stage system (paint then gloss clear) on a car body? I love XF18 but I don't really want a totally flat finish from it, and I'm curious whether or not it'll be as glossy as actual gloss paint with gloss clearcoat over top. Thanks
Made this to model my dream truck. This was a learning experience, albeit, a fun one! I think it turned out well for my first time.
These are just left overs that are missing parts or that have been collecting dust Iam wanting to see how much they are worth
I hate this kit, lol. I've been purposely dragging my feet on this one for the past month because it just doesn't motivate me to build it, but I already knew what I was getting into way beforehand.
I'm currently painting a McLaren F1 in chrome using Gravity's two-step paint system (one coat of gloss black and one coat of chrome), and even though I cleaned the parts with soap and then with an antistatic brush, I'm ending up with tiny dust particles that are becoming more and more visible as the paint dries... After doing some research, I was advised to sand down the imperfections with a Tamiya 3000 sponge, then with progressively finer sponges, and finally polish the parts with Tamiya polishing compound, and then finish painting by applying the chrome. So, what do you think? Do you have any other ideas or suggestions (and how do you avoid these tiny dust particles)? Thanks in advance.
Great kit to build, came with CF decals/stencil. Painted with tamiya metallic black. Would recommend.
