help with dust during painting session

I'm currently painting a McLaren F1 in chrome using Gravity's two-step paint system (one coat of gloss black and one coat of chrome), and even though I cleaned the parts with soap and then with an antistatic brush, I'm ending up with tiny dust particles that are becoming more and more visible as the paint dries... After doing some research, I was advised to sand down the imperfections with a Tamiya 3000 sponge, then with progressively finer sponges, and finally polish the parts with Tamiya polishing compound, and then finish painting by applying the chrome. So, what do you think? Do you have any other ideas or suggestions (and how do you avoid these tiny dust particles)? Thanks in advance.
