A couple weeks ago, I shared a video of my son Jax, who has Angelman Syndrome, completely lost in the world of Crimson Desert. It went viral, but more importantly… it showed a piece of who he is. His joy, his freedom, his imagination.

What we didn’t expect was what came next…

Pearl Abyss saw him. Really saw him. And they sent him the Collector’s Edition filled with a map, dragon statue, collector’s cards, pins, and patches. But what they actually gave him was something so much bigger than that.

They gave him a moment where nothing was missing. A moment where he wasn’t limited. A moment where he could just be a kid in the adventure.

To the team at Pearl Abyss, thank you. Not just for creating an incredible game, but for being incredible humans. You turned something he loves into something he’ll never forget… and as his mom, that means more than I can ever put into words ❤️

Sheesh, what a horrible game.

I was very reluctand at first if this game would be for me but the most kind people on this sub convinced me that it was.

So I bought the game....

There has never been so much regret of me buying a game as with this one.

Except....

It's not me regretting, it's my wife!!

Every spare moment I have goes into this game, our whole social life is at the brink of collapse.

I realy need to come up with something to make amends with my dearest.

So Pearl Abyss, thank you, there should be a warning prior to purchasing your game.

Shees, this game is fantastic!!

I currently sit on the tower sad because there seems to be no treasure chests in the tower according to my hat.

The one time I remember it alerting me, I was in the abyss and the feathers began glowing bright white. Unfortunately, its not visible while gliding. It also seems to require you to damn near be right on top of the treasure chest to even alert you, and even still, it seems very finicky on whether the feathers even change color.

Love the game, bummed about items

I put more than 250 hours into the game, and still do re-blockaded events. The private chest, as well as wardrobes are bustling with gear. Gear that don't really matter... That cool looking, angel cutting, rests in heaven, forged in the mount shmagonrog, carries the souls of dead Greymanes sword you found at chapter 10? Got nothing on the Sydmon sword you found after 2 hours.

Only difference is the materials you spend 2 hours gathering and put in the sword. It's just transmog with extra steps, why not just let people transmog directly, instead of going through hoop of " gather materials for 2 hours ( including you'll be short 1 copper ore and go back to mining) -> upgrade the weapon-> Go to the witch -> add sockets -> extract gems -> insert gems". It's just tedious and takes away from the game. I get that mining, gathering is important and I would love to feel that it's for more than just transmog. Make each weapon and armor actually different from each other. I think relying only on abyss gear system is counterproductive to the variety of gameplay this game can have.

My next point is this freaking hat. I like hot it looks, and it provides good QoL as well- if you are within 10 meters! I notice it's glow when I'm looking at the treasure already. So what's the point of it, is it the irony? I think the special items, should be more effective to make them fun to use. It's a huge game, QoL or bit of fun with extra wonkiness with items would spice it up. Don't wanna be wonky? Don't use the item.

Content might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I’m just advocating for as much additional content as possible.

Please Add a Raid system. Random factions attacking not just your camp and forts but farms and settlements that have a chance encounter. The recaptured feature for forts that was just added is great for replay ability but lacks immersion. I would like the chance to prevent territory from being captured as well.

Waypoints that show the quickest route to a tracked destination. That’s more of a QOL request. Nothing groundbreaking

The notice board is severely underutilized. Add Radiant bounty, hunting, fishing, mining, horse taming, and clearing outpost missions. This would help with immersion. EOG these boards are going to be purely cosmetic without a radiant system. Maybe BountIes can escape their cells every now and then.

Also add chance encounters for enemy ambushes and assassination attempts maybe even mini bosses that will hunt you down wherever you are. Just random encounters in general. They don’t all have to lead to a fight. This is a big one for me. You have created a beautiful and interesting world. I don’t want to feel like I have to fast travel from point A to point B or to sprint or dash on a horse because there is no benefit or nothing to experience from “taking it slow” and just strolling down a road. I want to fill that the world is truly alive with danger or excitement possibly lurking around everywhere. Besides assassin attempts should help with immersion. I doubt that all the warring factions wouldn’t want to see Kliff out of the picture.

Add Barbers to every region with different hair styles and tattoos to collect for Eric or even add tattoo books scattered all over the map similar to crafting recipes to unlock unique tattoos. This one would add more content to explore and track down books and give people access to early game character customization that they are asking for

Allow companions to be sent on dispatch missions to ride your wagon and sell your trade goods for you. I like the system and enjoy taking the wagon out for an adventure but I think there would be more use and immersion for it if we could delegate this to our comrades if desired

More armor sets for Oongka and Damiane. And different cannon/bullet types for pistols and blasters: explosive, poison, sleep & smoke bombs. Possibly add abyss gear just for ranged weapons in general. This would add to more combat variety

A ranger/rogue type playable character. Specializing in acrobatics, daggers or short blades, bows, crossbows or even throwing knives. It could be Naira or Ryan maybe even Yann(even though the community finds him intolerable) I don’t think anyone would mind if they used the same jet pack function as Oongka to travel. I don’t know if there are plans to add more playable characters to the game. Right now I feel the community is divided on using Oongka and Damiane. I personally think it’s great to play as everyone. For immersion I can have 3 different mission being tracked, 3 different regions being explored. If you do decide to add another character, I would enjoy someone more stealthy and rougish.

Since there already is an inventory mechanic for crafting materials, give us separate inventories for Oongka, Kliff and Damiane. Switching back up weapons mid combat is a chore when I have to sift through backup weapons for Kliff when I’m playing as the other two.

Pegasus or Gryffin mount, maybe even a sea type mount. Just a thought

More mini games like duo. More reasons to stop and smell the roses. Everybody loves variety

co-op mode. Because, why not?

DLC quest line expansion or Map expansion (North of Pailune, South of Hernand or East of Crimson Desert. Paid of course. Maybe Pirate content if you decide to go south of Hernand

Add a telescope. I keep seeing this request. I can take or leave this one.

Fix Mattias so we can interact with him and build trust to unlock the Solas gloves but add a replayable sparring arena to the castle where he resides since he’s always training there.

More elemental imbued abyss gear. Once again this just adds to more combat variety

Let us take the main unit companions(Niara, Shane, Arnold, Duane, Yann -probably not Marius) on certain activities or tag along for Radiant quests. Like how GTA lets you hang out with your friends. Maybe to the circus or wildlife exhibit together or hunting or horse taming.

Dungeons. Legend of Zelda style. or at least more interior based content like sewers and caverns possibly. It would add more build up to certain bosses and make defeating them feel more rewarding. An example would be that all of the sanctum missions could’ve been dungeons. It could add more opportunities to play stealthy too

Righteous Verdict needs a Custom animation for pulling it out of the pedestal. The place literally has its own dungeon but no animation

Romance system since people keep asking for it. Once again I keep seeing this request and I could take it or leave it.

Let Oongka and Damiane equip their own pets. Kind of immersion breaking when Kliff loyal hound can be in two places at once

Let us choose our primary and secondary weapons. I want to be able to switch from barehanded to a two handed weapon mid fight. Maybe add bracelets as a barehanded weapon or something so we can add abyss gear to barehanded combat. You lose out on 5-6 abyss gear slots for fighting barehanded. I’m not saying give us access to that many but maybe a bracelet as a barehanded weapon can add 2 extra slots

Let us pick what weapons our companions fight with. If I build Damiane to wield a spear that has 10 refinement and elemental imbued attacks, she should use that when she follows me. This breaks immersion. Some people already don’t like the other characters. Don’t give them any more reason to not use them

Tournaments. Everywhere. Maybe once a week or something. Fighting, fishing, target shooting, tree cutting, arm wrestling, horse racing, canoe racing, maybe wagon racing etc.

Give Damiane her own house in Deminiss nothing as big as the Cabin. Just a small little room where we can see how she lived before meeting up with the Greymanes.

More house mechanics. Either move the cabin into the camp or let us decorate the cabin exterior in Howling Hills or maybe add cabins for the Main unit, Marius, Shane, Arnold, Yann etc. It kinda makes no sense to have a random Cabin outside your camp, especially when your main chest is in a tent inside your camp.

More dialogue from Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. Also more dialogue to NPCs. The world looks lively but it doesn’t sound lively. Taverns should seem more lively at night. I walk around town and everyone looks like they are talking but it sounds like control you get right up to them. Like in Deminiss when there is a ceremony of people out in the open. It makes you want to approach them but everyone is silent.

Allow your mount to autopilot or follow road. Another QOL request. This feature is common for open world exploring games

More stealth based content overall

Let us Dye our two handed weapons and quivers.

And lastly.. Is it too much to hope for that Pearl Abyss can convince WB to have access to the Nemesis system?

I have tamed a bunch of dogs and cats for the camp, but never seriously used them while adventuring-it was just fun to make the camp feel more lively.

But, I found a crow, tamed it, and man, that bird picks up a lot of stuff, lol.

How are people managing this?

I have to make constant trips back to camp to unload the swords, shields, axes, *branches*, and tons of food stuff. It's great for resources, but really makes you have to do a lot of back and forth traveling.

And the big battles? (The ones with percentage completed?) Insane amounts of loot.

Crimson Desert NEEDS Dungeons — The Combat System Is Too Good Not To Have Them

One thing I really hope Pearl Abyss considers adding to Crimson Desert long-term is a true dungeon system.

The world, combat, atmosphere, and boss design already feel perfect for it. Imagine discovering hidden underground ruins, massive labyrinths, ancient castles, or multi-level caves with unique enemies, environmental mechanics, puzzles, and rare loot at the end.

Even though Crimson Desert is primarily a single-player/open-world RPG now, dungeon-style content could massively improve replayability and endgame progression. The combat system is way too good to only be used for open-world encounters.

Some examples of games that became even better because of dungeon or raid-style content:

- Elden Ring — Legacy Dungeons like Stormveil Castle and Leyndell were some of the best parts of the game because they mixed exploration, shortcuts, secrets, elite enemies, and bosses.
- Dragon's Dogma 2 — Bitterblack Isle in the first game became legendary because it gave players a difficult endgame dungeon crawl with meaningful rewards.
- The Elder Scrolls Online — Dungeons and trials gave players reasons to continue progressing their builds and mastering combat.
- Black Desert Online — One of the biggest criticisms from Western players for years was the lack of strong PvE dungeon content, and even Pearl Abyss acknowledged that feedback in earlier Crimson Desert interviews.
- Monster Hunter: World — Repeatable difficult PvE encounters created long-term engagement for players.

What would make Crimson Desert dungeons amazing:
- Rare gear/cosmetics/materials
- Multi-boss encounters
- Hidden lore areas
- Procedural or rotating layouts
- Difficulty tiers
- Optional co-op support
- Weekly challenges/endgame content
- Huge underground kingdoms or ancient ruins

I genuinely think dungeon content could take Crimson Desert from “great open-world RPG” to an all-time replayable classic.

What do you guys think? What kind of dungeons or endgame PvE content would you guys want to see?

Edit:

Thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts. The one theme that keeps recurring is people thinking dungeons can only be underground and that the battle system works better outside or that they like being outside more. I just want to clarify that dungeons can be both indoor and outdoor styled. They can be out in the world or they can be a separate area where we teleport to.

Tip: Interrogate fleeing enemies to get knowledge

As you can see in the video… After you’ve cleared an area and the enemies are fleeing, tackle one of them like you do a bounty. Then keep hitting them and you will gain knowledge about their factions including locations that get marked on your map!

Note: Sometimes the game doesn’t allow this as it sometimes prompts a cutscene. Or you may have still hostile enemies around that will interrupt your enhanced interrogation.

of course I notice the other wagon no longer is there 😂

All Yann does is NAG

Got back and tried to park

😂 Luckily it re sets if your talk to the guy to take it out again

Finished the quest without too much trouble-having guys trying to attack your wagon is not fun, luckily I paid for the most durable one-my parking needs some help 😂. Glad I have been practicing, however, this wagon is the biggest I've driven. Anyone else have issues doing this quest?

CDTv Cribs: Hernand Edition. . .

Had a little time on my hands before a journey of lookin’ for shyt, stealin’ shyt, and hearing different guys tellin’ me that there baby has callin’ em Pa.

Pimp’d out the ‘Mane Stay and added some life to it. Being able to get cool housing items from the legendary animals has been something I now look forward to since getting the house involved lol.

What do yall think? Anyone else pimp their house out, only to use the fridge, storage box, and wardrobe anyway🤔😂?

I am surprised by the hostility of Demeniss but it create a nice distinction with Hernand. It made me tackles exploring the city from the rooftops just like in Assassin’s Creed games. Also good to see the enemies are not bandits here, but a fully equipped inquisitions.

About those Annoying Flying Shadows at the Witches Sanctums...

  1. Those annoying flying shadows-the common suggestion is to Blinding Flash them, as one hit kills them. However-you have to activate Blinding Flash, target them with the crosshair as they fly around, and press L1, which can take a bit of time while you are getting attacked.

  2. The other common suggestion is to use charged shot them with your bow-this does work well when you first approach the Sanctum-you can pick off a few from a distance before they converge on you. However, you have to be a decent shot, especially once they surround you.

  3. The third option I just found out by accident-Crows Pursuit works on them! This Abyss Gear sends a flock of crows at your enemies, and I was surprised it knocks the irritating flying shadow guys out as well! It also doesn't need a lot of aiming-the crows seem to have pretty good homing instincts.

So if you have this Gear, install it before taking on the Sanctums. (It's a cool gear anyways).

PS:
Also, I'm sure everyone must know this by now, but after you cleanse the sanctum, there is a little mini-game you can play for an extra Abyss Rock thing. The little circular dial with metal tabs-you use Blinding Flash on the center, then as each metal tab passes the top indicator, you press Blinding Flash in time with it. Hit them all in proper timing, and a rock appears above the Sanctum you can grab and store.

Earlier mentions of this mini game had complaints it was very difficult to do on a PC, but with my PS5 controller it is pretty trivial to accomplish. They may have fixed it.

I have no idea what the extra rocks do, lol. But I'm saving them just in case.

“You can learn a lot from a Greymane…”

…oh I bet you can LMAO. Trolling and doing things like this in game are why I have the amount of time in that I do😂.

Blindfolded champion didn’t stand a chance‼️

Pretty cool. Wonder if this enables assassinations...

I tried using one against some enemies and the delay before the smoke goes off is really long, I was hoping for instant smoke and this is just disappointing.
