Where did you move from? Why?

No shade or anything, genuinely just curious. I moved here 12 years ago so am not exactly a lifer myself. Anecdotally it seems like there have been a lot of folks moving into Logan from Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Plus, the seeming influx of out of state plates on every block.

my cousins and their family moved here thinking Chicago was going to feel more affordable and opportunity heavy compared to places like NYC, Seattle, or Toronto for some people it genuinely worked out.

But I also know people with good experience and solid resumes who've been applying for months trying to switch industries, find stable work again, or even just interviews consistently.

Feels like there are opportunities here, but maybe not in the same way there were a few years ago. Curious what others arouund Logan seeing lately across different industries

I have been going to Innovative Primary Care on Fullerton but I’ve had a couple of negative experiences. I was thinking about trying out Advocate on Kedzie. Any experiences? I would like to find a woman physician that puts people at ease, as I get very anxious about doctor visits. Appreciate any guidance!

After nearly two months of them being “On Vacation”, they finally re-opened. Real ones know that Wonder Chop has some of the best takeout Chinese on the north side. Really nice owners too. I was concerned that they had permanently closed but luckily that isn’t the case. Please go support them!

Having a picnic with like 6-7 people and it should be lowkey! But wondering if its okay to drink alcohol?

Please move your cars for street sweeping. I know it happens for different streets at different times but it really needs to be done. Currently being done around Sacramento Schubert Whipple area. As much as I would like to see your cars be ticketed for not moving them. I’d rather see the streets cleaned.

*Update- they all moved their cars within an hour of my post. Just in time for the sweeper to get it done right. I claim full credit. ✌️

Between Kedzie and Kimball I see multiple rolling stops a day and some cars don't even stop at all. They barely let pedestrians get halfway through the intersection then speed off while they're still in the crosswalk, these drivers can't even wait an extra 2-3 seconds to let pedestrians get fully past the car. Some will cut pedestrians off as they're actively walking into the crosswalk, not giving them the right of way. Yesterday I saw a car speed through two of the stop signs within 10 seconds despite there being pedestrians in the area, didn't even bother doing a little courtesy tap of the brakes.

Is there a way to have these stops enforced or a way to petition for a speeding camera in this area?

Seriously worried someone is going to get injured between Kedzie or Kimball because these asshole drivers can't take 5 seconds out of their day to STOP AT A STOP SIGN LIKE THEYRE SUPPOSED TO.

I understand the traffic in the circle and on Kimball gets backed up but that doesn't give drivers the right to drive like impatient, reckless clowns.

Does anyone know of a place, other than The Wasteshed, that takes donations of craft supplies? They are not accepting donations during the month of May and I need to get this stuff out of my house sooner than that. I have mostly yarn and knitting supplies. Any thoughts are appreciated!

2-3 weeks ago, my roommate was catcalled and has experienced continued threats and harassment from a late 20s hispanic guy in a 2010s silver mitsubishi full size sedan. busted bumper and some rust spots.

she was taking a friends kid to school and was stopped and catcalled. silver car crept alongside her down the street complimenting her and asking for her number, she relented and gave him the number, intending to block him as soon as he reached out.

and oh boy he reached out. weeks later. this monday. polite enough at first. but my roommate, sweetheart that she is, let him down gently saying that she’s too busy and not interested. met with walls of text of a deranged, rejected, unstable man. too pathetic to note specifics. using slurs! blocked!

a few messages after being blocked from the phone went to the ipad. one of them mentioned that it’s not illegal to know where she stays.

fast forward to today,

car of the same description was sitting on altgeld on the corner of fairfield facing california idling. with all of the talk of creep behavior, i didn’t so much notice the car at first, but just noted that the spot would be a good place to watch the house. perfect view of the house but far enough that anyone inside wouldn’t see.

i started to walk back towards cali. i was distracted momentarily by adjusting a hoodie that’s been riding up while walking, but i had looked up and noticed that the silver mitsu was slowly driving alongside me.

as soon as i noticed, they started gently tapping the horn as they followed along. i reached into my pocket to grab my phone to take pics but as soon as i did, they laid on the horn and erratically took a right and peeled down california towards the highway, nearly hitting a pedestrian.

i am generally not a suspicious person, and would like to believe that this is somehow a local freak who menaces local ladies.

posting to see if anyone has had a similar experience being menaced by a silver mitsu near cali/altgeld or if my roommate and i are specifically being targeted.

UPDATE!!! Saw again today at 6:10pm near the same corner. taking post work joint walk and the car was parked on fairfield. as i was getting a photo of the car and he came up out of his house and asked why i was taking pics of his car!!!!

AS EVIDENCE IN THE FUTURE CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST YOU!!! booked it tf out of there. called roommate. we have plate numbers and will be filing a police report ASAP

like he said, it’s not illegal to live near us and know where we live or to idle your car facing our home. but i guess we should have something on the record if god forbid it does escalate.

why? lmao i get that it was incredibly silly bitch thing to do , she does too. but like… who cares??? nobody is confused as to how we have ended up in this situation.

can you freaks wait until this stalker creep either fucks off (ideal), carries on until it escalates with the police and fucks off (not great) or carries on until it escalates to him entering our home and getting blasted (registered, locked away safely) in the chest to use this as a cautionary tale????

Hey folks, the washer and dryer in my building sucks and keeps getting more expensive, plus they only take quarters. I’ve skimmed some posts on the LS Facebook page but they are all a bit old and it seems like a lot of these places seem to close or switch pricing / policy often so I thought I’d ask here for updated recommendations.

I have a LOT of laundry to do and am also unemployed and pretty broke so I’m trying to find something cheap that takes card payments / lets you load $ digitally.

Embarassingly I also have not been to a laundromat since I was a kid and I am now a 30 year old woman 😭 so I’m still gauging which places have which types of machines, how long it typically would take to do a load etc and I guess anything else important to know about any particular spot recommended.

I’m not super familiar with the rents in LS. here’s info on the space:

\- $900 for a room in a 2bd1ba garden unit (so entire unit is $1800)
\- medium sized living room with large windows despite being a garden unit
\-spacious kitchen which fits a dining table
\- spacious bathroom
\- bedroom itself is very small, around 10x7.5 ft
\- free laundry
\- free locked storage space in building
\- no joke, a minute walk from the LS blue line station
\- private landlord

I’m mostly concerned about how small the room is and was hoping to hear what people have to say. I’ve been hearing mixed things and would love some insight.

Editing to add:
- no flooding issues in the 3-4 years the current tenant has lived there
- fly issue that has been addressed, no other pest issues
