What router will I receive when ordering the premium 1.6gb plan?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at taking out a broadband contract with EE but I’m unsure what router I’ll receive. Their website seems to say two different things. One says I’ll receive the 7 plus if I choose premium and another section says I’ll receive a 7 pro. Just wondering if anyone knows what I’ll receive.

I’ll also be placing the order via a comparison website as it’s £33.99 for 24 months, which is £11 cheaper per month than EE can offer me.

(Forgot to mention I did chat to someone but they weren’t that helpful and didn’t seem to know either!)

Thanks!

EE 900mb opinion?

Hi

I’m considering moving to EE 900mb fibre and would like to hear opinions/problems about it.

Also want to ask about the router provided. Is it good compared to an to link ax72? I have a room where there was poor signal, and with the ax72 that was working well so one of the main question is if I keep that router or use the ee provided

Thanks

Issues upgrading to 1.6Gbps as an existing customer – Has anyone tried this workaround?

I’m currently on a 900Mbps plan with my contract ending in April 2027. I can't upgrade to 1.6Gbps via the website or customer service. The only way seems to be registering with a new email and placing a fresh order. This allows me to select the 1.6Gbps speed, and Openreach would come to install new cabling.

Can I place the new order, then cancel it within the 14-day cooling-off period, and somehow use that to trigger an upgrade on my existing 900Mbps contract?

If I install the new 1.6Gbps line and then cancel my current 900Mbps plan, I’ll face a £280 exit fee. However, the new 1.6Gbps deal is only £33/month, and I'd get a £100 voucher. What do you guys think? Any advice would be much appreciated!

=========================================================================
I’ve just signed up for a new 1.6G deal through a cashback site for £33 a month, and the installation is set for the 26th. Right now, I’m on a 900MB plan that costs £50 and doesn't run out until April 2027. Once the new line is in, if I call customer service, can they just merge my old contract into the new one without charging me a cancellation fee? And if they do, will I be paying the £33 rate or the £50 one? Thanks for the help!

What’s the longest you’ve stayed with EE continuously?

Feels like loads of people constantly switch networks chasing deals now, but I know some people who’ve been with EE since the Orange or T-Mobile days. Curious how loyal people actually are to networks anymore.

Anyone else having issues with 5G Roaming at the moment?

I currently have a EU Roaming Inclusive Extra which gives me EU Roaming as I travel between the UK and EU weekly.

Normally it works fine but I'm currently having issues this time round with my phone showing 5G and full connection but not getting any internet service.

I was wondering if anyone else might be or have experienced similar?

Best negotiated retention offer including 5G SA?

So I am useless at haggling / negotiating. My sim only contract is up for renewal, and just received the expected follow up call from EE after requesting PAC code. The best offer they could give me was the one that was already available to me online about 5 days ago, which is 60gb (unlimited calls and text), capped at 100mbps for £10/month.

I had previouslly checked by dialling *3001#12345#* and it seems my local mast is 5GSA capable. When I asked what deals they could provide that include 5GSA / 5G+, (first they advised 5GSA wasn't available) then they advised there were none, and cheapest plan was £35/month.

Has anyone very recently negotiated a cheaper deal including 5GSA?

If I do go ahead and accept the £10/month 60GB plan, anything you would recomend I try to negotiate be included to sweeten the deal?

Thanks :)

As a BT customer under contract, is it possible to switch to EE if they are the same group?

Considering upgrading to the 1.6GB, realised we are still under contract until June 27.

Wondering if they offer any switch / coverage of existing contract if it’s within the same group?

Do EE deals still feel worth it compared to other UK networks?

Every time I look at new plans, EE usually sits slightly higher in price but promises better performance. I’m wondering if people still feel the extra cost is justified or if other networks have caught up enough now that it’s not as clear cut anymore.

Will a WiFi 7 PCIe card allow me to hit 1.6gbps, or is it ulimately only Ethernet?

I should preface the line was installed 30mins ago.

My PC maxes at 940 Mbps, but that's because it's running a 1 Gigabit Realtek LAN controller, so I could buy a 2.5Gb PCIe network card. The issue is, I'd rather avoid wires if I can (living in a rental)

Ethernet
I've been reading some posts on here about people hitting 1.6gbps via WiFi. Would a WiFi 7 PCIe dongle work just fine to get those speeds? I know ethernet is king, but I'd like to know if there's a possibility of hitting those speeds via WiFi.

Advice. Switching from EE to sky mobile. In my cool off period. Unhappy.

So don’t know if this is right community to ask. I didn’t like the price I had with EE but I liked my phone. I switched to sky mobile and got an iPhone 17e. In short, I hate it. It’s smaller, the camera is terrible and the battery life is terrible too. My fault, I improperly researched it. I asked if I can switch. Sky told me that although I’m in the 14 day period, they can’t offer me a new contract but I’m welcome to cancel this one and return the device. I have not done this yet as my phone number is only just transferring from EE to Sky. I still have my old phone, iPhone 15 pro max. I want to go back to EE for a sim only contract and just get tech insurance but I hate the idea of messing people around. I’m not great with tech either, so iPhone 15 was good enough for me. I don’t want to be locked in this contract with a phone I don’t like for 36 months. What can I do? The chat services aren’t open at the moment, until tomorrow and that’s when my number transfers from EE to sky. Please help🙏

Edit/update. I contacted sky today to cancel my contract and they told me they absolutely could not cancel the PAC request while it was processing and that it would finish today. So I will either have to try again by 4pm or wait until tomorrow again. Thanks for advice. Not sure if I should get a new sim out with EE now or wait until they cancel my contract? I want to keep my number if possible.

Cancelling EE Broadband

I am now in the last 30 days of my broadband contract and am looking to switch provider to save some money. After initiating the OTS to Plusnet (they are the same parent company anyway...) I was surprised to be notified I'd have to pay a cancellation fee although my switch date would take me to my contract end date and with the required cancellation notice.

After calling retentions and going through the fact they couldn't match the price Plusnet were giving me (which is more than their current new customer offer available via Uswitch, go figure!) I was told that as I am giving notice of cancellation today, inside my contract contract period I would have no choice but to pay the fee regardless of the fact I'd be seeing out my contractual period with them as my supplier. Surely this can't be right as, presuming I want an easy switch I can't initiate until after my contract end date meaning I am beholden to them for 30 days longer (the notice period) than I am contracted with them for which feels very much against the terms of the agreement?

Anyone else who has left EE broadband at the end of their contact has a similar experience?

My girlfriends on BT and I’m on EE. Can we merge accounts?

So my girlfriend is with BT and still has a year left on her contract. We are moving into our first place together and was wandering if it’s possible for us to merge our account together and just pay the one bill?

Missing speaker after repair?

Just got my phone back from my local EE store after a cracked front screen repair (it now looks immaculate, even the battery, cracked back and chipped metal surround — pretty sure they have given me a brand new one)

Gone to charge the phone and noticed a big hole in the left hand side of the USB C port.

Is this normal or is there a speaker/component missing?

Happy the phone looks brand new, but am I now going to have to worry about it being water tight.

Fibre

Currently have 1.6Gbps, in contract until December paying around £72 a month. The app says I’m due for renewal, but will only give me £2 off my current monthly price. New customers get the same for £34 a month. Is it worth waiting until December or should I call EE?

Joining EE as employee

Morning all, apologies if this isn't the correct group, but I have a friend who is currently undergoing induction training to join EE, call centre type role I believe. Although not IT illiterate, they are not the best with computers... If I was to give them a quick tutorial, what sort of work or applications would I show them to assist? Many thanks.
