uc review - has anyone actually had payments stopped or can anyone share their experience with it

Got the dreaded review message today.

Have uploaded all bank statements but my main bank monzo the statements are a mess lol money in & out of pots, money to credit cards everyday as trying to pay them off, money to and from partner most days.

I also included account statements that I forgot I had, Chase & Kroo never been used I think they gave money for free if you signed up a few years ago.

I have nothing to hide, no savings and no money hidden anywhere but still can’t help overthink all this. Currently need UC to get by each month.

(Ne England) I missed a call from dwp but I don’t know what it’s for?

Edit: I rang pip hotline and they didn’t call me either. So not universal credit and not about pip? I have no other benefits. Very confusing

I missed both of these calls from the number +44 800 023 2635 but I can’t call it back, nothing happens. I asked in my uc journal but they said it wasn’t them who contacted me. I’m currently waiting for my pip appeal to go to court so I asked my representative but she said there’s no updates there either.
Why did they call me and why haven’t they tried to contact me any other way? I have no idea what it’s about or how to contact them back and I’m really worried I’ll be sanctioned for not answering the calls

Earnings dispute

Hi I’ll try keep this short. Basically my statement came through on the 4th of May & payment due the 8th. My statement came through and said “£0” , this was because it showed my husband had been paid twice apparently, I flagged this straight away as it wasn’t correct. He had only been paid his usually wage, we have bank statements and payslips to prove this. By Tuesday it had been sent to the earnings dispute team, and my husband called his employer . His employer then told us he had processed two pay slips at once, his March and April one which doesn’t actually get put into his bank until 15th, something to do with end of the tax year and wanting to change the dates that they processed the pay slips..he has sent a letter to us to provide to UC to confirm this and I’ve also asked if I can upload bank statements and his pay slips to show what we received but I’m getting no where! We spoke to a case manager on Monday and he just said all he can do is send a message to the team to further explain. Has anyone else ever had this issue ? It’s really stressing me out now. We rely on that money for rent and food shopping ect.

Thanks !

2 Child Cap

Does anyone know how the lifted child cap works? My assessment period was 13th April - 12th May so after the cap was lifted but my statement is showing 2 children and not 3. Children were born 2007/2010/2018. Eldest child is still in full time education. My youngest son receives the high rate mobility and care of DLA so not subjected to the benefit cap. Thanks to anyone who can help!

No one will let me rent since I don't meet affordability criteria, might be forced to live with ex partner again.

I broke up with my fiancé about two months ago. We lived together and I was financally dependent on him. He moved out immediately and I applied for benefits straight away.

I ask my letting agency to change me to a sole tenancy to help prove my UC housing costs, and they asked me to serve notice on the joint tenancy so they could switch me to a sole one.

My landlord took advantage of this, declined the sole tenancy and gave me less than 4 weeks to leave the property.

I couldn't find a flat in time because no agency will accept me, and I know it is because I'm unemployed and on benefits. I've been told I don't meet affordability criteria for even £550pcm (the lowest rent in my city). I've had applications denied and even had viewings cancelled on me. One flat I offered the deposit for picked someone else who offered deposit after me, three days later. The agency pathetically lied saying "first come first serve" when I literally was first to offer a deposit.

I have an excellent reference from my previous landlord, I can offer two guarantors and deposit plus two months upfront. But no one wants me.

I am now homeless and desperately trying to find something. I'm meant to return to university studies in this city in September, I need to live here.

I might just have to move back in with my ex partner. We would get a two bedroom property. But I'm terrified Universal Credit will cut me off, thinking we are actually a couple, and I will be trapped again.

I am extremely stressed. Any advice is appreciated.

PIP assessors are absurd

So, I received my report. I have not read it in its entirety.

I have frequent anger outbursts and write letters.

Frequently mentioned here question about driving license- my mistake that I admitted to passing driving test 20 years ago.

I was not asked if I drive safely and if I had caused any accidents. There a lot of activities that someone could do it the past.

'driving requires complex cognitive abilities and leg movements'

- like telling someone that lost legs that because they had a driving licence 20 years ago they can drive

question - how does pip mobility car fit into it?

they can drive

I am questioning the relevance of this question.

The issue is - I was pretty when young. Got drivers licence, PIP thinks I can drive but no one else does.

How to Remove benefit cap help

Hello

I’m on uc - currently not working as caring for my daughter of 4 months old.

I have 2 kids (one is 4 months old other is 2.5 years old)

I get around £2,530.00 ( housing 1,500, children 607.00 - standard allowance 424.90

however due to benefit cap i end up with £1963.00

How can i get the benefit cap removed ? If i start online work how much can i get paid that removes the benefit cap ? Let’s say i earn 800!does that remove benefit cap? But then my payments will be ducted by minus 50% of what i earn? I’m confused here

Or if i earn 300, 400, 500 would i still have a benefit cap?

What amount removes benefit cap and would i earn 100% of what i earn on top of my full payment of 2503

Need some advice and help if possible

England: What happens if one person on a joint claim moves abroad?

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have been planning to move to Portugal for sometime. He is a Portuguese Citizen with settled status in the UK. We have a joint Universal Credit claim. We have family that can house us but can’t financially support us (which is fine we’ve been looking for work) and we’ve been trying to find ways to make a relocation work.

If my husband moved to Portugal first to find work and get set up, while I stayed in the UK with the children how would that affect our joint UC claim?

England

Been unemployed for a year approximately - looking for work while receiving Universal Credit

During that time ALL of the advisors I've been meeting have been understanding and shown empathy for my situation - I look after my 80+ mother in the mornings, so they've always agreed to let me attend my work search meetings with them as late as possible

Until today when I got an advisor I've never had before - who did her best to be unpleasant throughout the meeting

She first said she's going to make me go on a 2 week job finding course at a local college

Before that she told me my next appointment is with her next week (until now it's always been every two weeks for a long while)

When she told me the appointment time around was around midday - I asked if she could make it later due to being a carer for my elderly mother

She asked if I was getting carer's allowance - and I told her one of her colleagues had told me to to apply for it but I had been refused for whatever reason

She retorted then I had to come in when she said

- and then said I have to come in 2 hours before the only time slot she could allocate me!

When I asked puzzled well which time is it - she said it's the time she's given me - but I need to attend 2 hours earlier

TLDR - am I obliged to attend 2 hours earlier next week for the appointment with her?

Or can she not enforce / penalise me for attending at the slot allocated?

EDIT - I can't be sure, but I THINK I heard her tell the person she saw before me that their next appointment was at the same (earlier) time she had told me - although I didn't catch the date for that person - do they do "bulk" appointments for several people and that's why she told me to attend 2 hours earlier?

Or does the written appointment time trump any verbal demands?

Benefits claim. UC over 16000

I’m really worried and upset because I have been called for a claim review and when finding out why I was being called in I read about declaring savings over 16000 and the 6000 thing which I had no idea about. I’ve been claiming UC for a while and starting receiving PIP in 2022. I went over 6000 in 2022 (when I started receiving PIP) and moved into supported housing in 2023 so was able to save money well (very low rent) and was advised to save money for future by my support worker. I went over 16000 in 2024 and have been over 16000 ever since. I acquired all my savings through benefits. I was very frugal and can’t go out much anyway because chronic illness ME/CFS and POTS. I am mostly housebound and spend most time in bed. I’m scared because after calculating how much I might owe it looks like it’s going to be huge amount. I could have spend more. I was worried about the future and not being able to work again so I saved up well and managed to rent with private landlord after saving the money to give myself more independence and less stress which was making my symptoms worse. I’m really scared tbh. I’ve had awful sickening dreams. I wish I’d have known. I feel so stupid and pathetic. What will happen? I feel sick and like giving up completely. Was trying to look after myself and prepare for future like saving up for driving lessons and car so I can go out more whilst also keeping a certain amount incase I somehow ended up homeless after needing to find a home quickly in 2023 and moving into supported living.

ongoing issues with dla case worker

hi sorry me again lol

So after back and forth my daughter wasn't awarded anything. His reasonings was there's no echp, she isn't on sleep medication, no diagnosis for adhd/autism, no cahms or similar support in place and there's no proof of washing in school to reflect on her care needs and that the school have contradicted everything on the form i wrote saying "she's happy and independent she can change, eat and go toilet independently and receives no 1-1 support" also stating there was no evidence from ENT which there was and that she isn't under cahms or any related mental health service.

I made a complaint as the mention for adhd and autism is new, she is under childrens and young persons wellbeing service which is apart of cahms it is still nhs funded and a referral was sent by the gp for mental heath support, and she does receive support from the school and that she doesn't change at school she goes into school in her PE kit snd why would she need to wash at school? so why was that asked and i made it clear on the form all of this with evidence. I also stated that she cannot be on sleep medication due to her sleeping disorder and her obstruction and low respiratory rate when she is asleep as she needs to wake herself up so why would you drug a child who has to wake up as she stops breathing. Also regarding her referral from the social prescriber who provides 1-1 support outside of school who is employed by children and young persons was said to be a report from the national autistic society when it wasn't at all and it was signed and dated with her job role and full name

The case worker who dealt with her case called me and then started having a go at me down the phone which lead to the pair of us arguing regarding my daughter me correcting him him not appreciating that and me ending the phone ringing DLA again and complaining again and receiving an apology. I also then contacted the school asking for clarification on what was said.

I then received a phone call today and a case manager has told me the written notes from the phone call stating the school said that. I asked why wasn't it recorded i thought all calls were and she told me it wasn't or my phone conversation with him being rude to me and said that he has a strong accent so she doesn't think it was meant to come across rude as she knows him personally. And she completely understands where i am coming from and the confusion on the evidence and has asked me to resend all her hospital letters (i'm guessing this has been lost) as i said all the hospital reports back my day to day and night care for her and her diagnosis for her obstruction in her breathing and her sleep problems and her mental health referral/concerns from the GP

She said she will be looking at everything i sent and redoing my decision in a week and getting other opinions within dwp who aren't medically trained but will know the ins and outs 100%.

I then received a phone call from the school and i read them out the decision letter and what he said regarding the school and the senco said he asked if my daughter can eat independently she said yes and she goes to the toilet without needing help but she said she also explained that she has had to have adaptations in class. She cries every single morning having to leave my side, she needs support from her teacher epically in the morning with regulating her emotions and has to have a time out on her, she struggles socially an had to be buddies up to mix with the other children and mae friends and that when doing phonics she was having it in another classroom as this is how they did the sets and my daughter couldn't cope with the change from one room to another would break down if leaving the classroom so now she doesn't have too and she is only happy if she is in her routine and doesn't leave her classroom and stays with her teacher. Also that she does receive 1-1 support counselling once a week at school and her attendance is poor due to the ongoing issues with her health and that her teacher gives her daily mental health check ins. She is now writing a written statement about all of this so i can send it off about her anxiety in school and the support she receives as she isn't sure why this wasn't included.

I'm just wondering if anyone went through anything similar and had a success? Why the case manager ignored or misunderstood so much evidence and is that the reasoning for them to be reviewing it without a MR. The school have said they wrote everything down on the phone call and i also find it hard to believe DLA apparently didn't record any of these conversations? Is it worth complaining again and mentioning what the school have said as he said the decision was made on what the school said stating she doesn't recieve support when the school made it clear she has had adaptations and she receives 1-1 in school and outside of school as that's a factor in her attendance she is with the children's social prescriber.

UC review I can't figure out how to get vinted statements.

I live in England and I'm currently undergoing a review. They started in December 2025 but then I guess I slipped through the cracks and they never got back to me until after my bank statements were outdated. So I sent them again and today they called me to ask a long list of questions. He seemed pretty focused on when my savings went over £6000 back in 2024 from a back payment of my limited capability to work and work related activities element. I was at £5900 before then over £8000 after. I declared when I was at £5900 because I knew it was close to the threshold and wanted to be transparent. I didn't know at this point that I would be getting a back payment. I also declared after the back payment and was told it wasn't counted towards savings for 12 months and then I declared again 12 months later. Ive been declaring every month the amount changes just to make sure I don't get overpaid. He wants me to send bank statements from 2024 which is a bit of a nightmare as it appears they don't go back that far on the app l. Im hoping the bank website will help.

He also wants to see my vinted and ebay statements from the last 4 months. I have sold a few bits of clothing and collectibles I no longer wanted on there . The only issues is I can't figure out how to get vinted statements. I can see them on the app but there is no download option. I even tried the desktop website. I could take screenshot and convert to pdf but there is no account number or anything like that on these statements to identify that its mine.

Has anyone else had to send in vinted statements if so how? Also still figuring out ebay as well. I only sold one thing on there but it was £100 (£5 more than I brought it for)

You might be able to tell this has all made me quite anxious as it felt like I might have done something wrong. I think i might get in trouble for the few quid I might have made here and there as I didn't keep track of how much i brough the stuff I sold for so its possible I did make some profit.

Anyway sorry to ramble if anyone can help I'd be incredibly grateful thanks in advanc.

Carers Allowance Paused Irregular Payments

I am so stressed right now. I quit work March 13th to support my son. Applied for CA and was granted maybe 3 weeks ago. A week after that I worked 1 shift that paid £260 because it wasn't taxed due to it being April. That is the only shift I have worked in 8 weeks. I called DWP up to advise on the same day of payment, and now they have paused my payments while they investigate. Which they have no idea how long it will take. In theory I know if I was a weekly earner I could have earned £1600 in this period and still received my carer's allowance. In practice I have earned £260 and had it stopped. I am absolutely entitled to be put through as an irregular earner but I have a very stressful life and I cannot cope with the stress of it being stopped and started!! We really really need these weekly payments. I have been in touch with work to reduce my next monthly shift by an hour to bring it below the threshold. I have spoken to the DWP and asked them to please just put me back to weekly and let us have what is literally half of my income, and this has been put through to back office as urgent. Has anyone else been in a similar position? How long did it take to sort? I am only working the bare minimum because I am an NHS nurse and I don't want to lose my pin. They are making it impossible for me to work.

Benefit Cap - UC

I have been under UC since Nov 2025 and I haven't been charged of any benefits cap not until this May and it is quite surprising like £400 benefit cap. What could be the reason for such as I don't claim jobseeker's allowance and no income since last year. Thank you

Art Commissions on Universal Credit?

Hello all. I'm disabled and can't work so I'm on universal credit (still on the PIP waitlist). I spend a lot of my free time drawing, but am unable to do an art related job full or even part time because of my lack of qulifications and due to my flare ups I have months of not drawing. When I feel well enough I take commissions. I've gotten 3 so far and I've made £200. My question is, do I need to report this to universal credit? Will they take this as me bing fit enough to work? Does this count as a job considering how sparse the commissions actually are?

Any advice is much appreicated, thank you!

So i'm self employed and on UC in england and going well and now earning enough i will have to pay taxes this year, i pay my tax once a year and wondering what best do on my UC.

Am i best of working out my monthly tax and putting it my business account and deducting it monthly when declaring or pay in one big go in january and just declare a big expense then? I feel like breaking it down monthly will be better because of the MIF. Looking to see what others do.

Quick question

Thanks all in advance

This concerns a person who receives PIP standard daily living and standard mobility. Also receives UC and LCWRA, no housing costs , no dependents.

They have been offered an interview for a part time paid post with a charity for a wage of around £950 monthly. This would be under the "Right to try" scheme. Job expected 1-2 years, possibly longer.

With help from the group and Turn2Us it was found possible that they could receive wages of around £900 per month, and their PIP, and only have their UC reduced by about £130 a month ( a higher work allowance due to no housing costs)

This would entail them being considerably better off.

My question please;

How long is it likely that this working arrangements can continue?

For example, under these calculations she would get (approx)

£900 monthly wages plus

£724 UC ( standard plus LCWRA reduced by £130.57 monthly) plus

£428 PIP 4 weekly

This gives a total of around £2052 monthly
