USA Tax question on compensation from employment law (punitive). If your award is 10k, and your total income for the year is 10k

Is it taxable if your award is 10k, and your total income for the year is 10k, meaning that you only have a sum of 10k for the year. Does one not need to declare under the 15k rule?

Are the income from the case directly taken for tax, or you have to declare this income on IRS?

0.5% to the next grade with a few courses

Do the professors usually round up or add points if you tell them you are 0.5% near the next grade? Or do you guys just take it as it is?

When I read about the certificate for UHC student insurance, it states that online courses/ distance learning students are not eligible for insurance. However, when I asked the university, they said international students must be enrolled in their student insurance, including those taking online courses. Is it likely that UHC will deny insurance if they see that the student is online only? Or they do know that international students in this case are required by the university to enrol in insurance?

If I am not mistaken, I do not see anywhere to write that you are distance learning only. Because of this, I think I'm being charged the on-campus fee charges. Does anyone know what to do? Do you contact admissions, bursar, or?

Is it because I previously listened to her and did what she asked?

She does a lot of stuff like made a mess etc, and I did not say anything. However, anything she finds not to her liking, she will approach me about it.

Finally today I did one part of what she asked, but did not answer her when she kept questioning me. Do you guys just ignore your roommates so that they dont bother you?

I say this because one of my supervisor says that me sitting straight and listening is indicating that I am nervous. I do that as a sign that I am listening to the other party and this is considered respect in my culture

I do not understand when is the late payment deadline. If the class starts in June 2026, is the late payment deadline also May 4?

If I drop all courses, and add it this week or next week, is there a late add course fee?

I am in a health field and I am confused on what my supervisor said. She mentioned something about medicaid and that they must see patients for psychiatric medicine/ counseling and cannot refuse patients? Is this a medicaid thing, an organization thing or? I only know that doctors cannot refuse emergency patients. Like let's say what if the doctor wants to take photos, but the patient refusing photos? Or x-rays? But they are not in emergency?

Or what if they refuse to produce id?

I am seeing patients as a student in mental health counseling. The flow goes like this- 1. Screening 2. Assign the patient to a provider

They ask students/ anyone to do the screening, because it takes up a lot of work and is primarily for insurance purposes. The owner of the clinic, who is also my manager, comes up with all sorts of excuses all the time, for a lot of things. This one thing really made me upset, because at first she said when they followed up with the patient, the patient said they did not want to see me. That may or may not be true that the patient did not want to see me, because I know they did not follow up with the patient. If they asked the patient this, it means that the patient did not want to be assigned to anybody and is coming up with an excuse. I know this because the patient did not want counseling and is only there for medications. She may have said she did not understand me/ too soft, but I know overall she did because we finished the screening. I dont really mind the patient doing this, because patients in mental health have all sorts of reasons like maybe they dont want to re-traumatized themselves, but what I am angry and frustrated about is the owner and her husband telling me that the patient does not want to see me, and then they said it is because of my characteristics like my accent. I have an accent, but it has not hindered people from understanding me. This may also be why they are not assigning patients to me. I am the only Asian there

My other supervisor, who I think is friends with the owner, but is quite a good supervisor in that she is teaching me clinical skills, told me before that it is usually about them and not about you when these sorts of things happen. I think this supervisor does not know that it is coming from the owner and her husband though.

I am not sure what I should do

When an orthodontist uses the invisalign simulator, which is not 100% accurate, is it sent to the company or it is an in-house simulator using itero?

I have a question about medical leave of absence. If there is a condition on having the student insurance, for example, they need to be enrolled 30 days in order to have and remain enrolled in insurance, if a student withdraws one week in the semester because of medical leave of absence, do they still have insurance for the rest of the semester or year, if they are on medical leave of absence? Or does the insurance not take into consideration medical leave of absence?

If an international student withdraws to fall below the required full-time definition in the middle of the semester, does this prompt the international office to cancel the student visa if nothing is done?

Because my PPO insurance may only last for 1 month (or 3 months). Is this enough time? For example, maybe I do the consult with the jaw surgeon with self-pay, and for the surgery and hospital itself (or maybe only hospital since some surgeons are fully out of pocket) can be authorized for insurance?

Students in the program are complaining about the leadership and internship team, the teaching staff is complaining about the leadership, and a lot of BS is going on. Try posing a problem to the internship team and see how they answer you. They may gaslight you and say they provide a lot of support though. Their definition of support is not the same as a student's definition of support, as I surveyed and 80% who had to unfortunately deal with the internship or leadership team had very negative experiences
