If you told me before the 2014 WC that Neymar wouldnt win a balon dor, world cup, or even copa america, and only 1 UCL I would be astonished. I remember as a kid watching youtube clips of Neymar skills in the Brazil league, then he came to join Barca. He was meant to carry to bring Brazil to WC glory, he was meant to bring PSG their Champions League. He had a few good yrs in Barca but ultimately he left due to being in Messi's shadow and it went downhill from there. The talent is undisputed but career wise, it must be a let down. Along with this some of his off pitch antics are disgraceful, for who was meant to be Pele's heir.

What i mean by this is a player from a club you only watch in the champions league, or a player who you re intrigued to see perform against tougher opposition. A prime example of this for me would be Doue, also Dembele, pretty much the whole PSG attack honestly.

I would say the last complete outsider to win was 04 porto, one can argue 12 chelsea but they won the pl just 2 yrs prior.

With the new format favoring the big sides even more i find it almost impossible to see a dortmund, or a napoli for example win the champions league. Whereas every year we get the likes of palace/sociadad winning cups, even 2nd tier sides reaching cup finals, it seems the ucl is always the same 4/5 teams.
