Impact fitness in Biddeford versus Saco Fitness?
For those who have been to both, which one would you recommend and why?

I am looking to buy a small, cozy home in and around Bethlehem and Easton that is surrounded by nature. Having creeks, rivers, or lakes would be an added bonus. My wife and I are especially fond of watching birds, squirrels and other wildlife. Preferably it would be within a 30 minute drive of Bethlehem and Easton.
What areas would you recommend? I really appreciate your help. 🙏
My wife and I created a 100% free 84-day discipline challenge (not an app) that we researched and completed ourselves. We are looking for a few more beta-testers to complete the challenge and give us honest feedback so we can improve it.
We call it the 84 Strong Challenge. This 12-week challenge made a big impact on our lives. It helped us adopt life-changing habits, eradicate bad ones, and made us much more disciplined. It is based on habit-stacking, a science-backed way to create lasting change. It is completely free to join. But it is challenging. And that's the whole point.
If you are interested in joining (it's completely free) and being a beta tester, please reach out to me. Thank you.
I am looking for a carafe or coffee pot that I can use with the aeropress to make 2 -3 cups of coffee at a time. The previous ceramic coffee/tea pot I used dripped/leaked when I poured the coffee. What would you recommend? I prefer something with at least a 2 cup capacity ad with a handle. Amazon links and/or a photo would be very helpful. Thank you!
What have you accomplished that was extremely challenging but now makes you proud? Do you have any practical tips to help others accomplish something equally challenging?

To me, instant gratification is the opposite of possessing discipline. Being able to forgo instant gratification for some future benefit is what makes somebody disciplined.
The peculiar thing is this… let’s take eating unhealthy food as an example. If you eat junk food today, you do not look in the mirror and notice any difference. Conversely, if you eat healthy food today, you do not look in the mirror and see any difference either. The results compound overtime and only make themselves evident much later on.
Having discipline now produces favorable results in the long run. Being ill discipline now produces unfavorable results, also in the long run. Either way, it is an investment in our future…. Either a good investment or a bad one.
Now than I am older and wiser, I realize that challenging myself and doing difficult things that make me uncomfortable is not a bad thing. In fact, I now welcome discomfort. I have learned that in order to sail and visit new territories, one first needs to lose sight of the shore.
Waking up at 4am to head too the gym is not always a comfortable feeling, especially in winter. But that is exactly what builds mental callouses and resilience. Running a marathon, for example, is admirable because it is downright difficult, and most people won't do it.
Here's to doing things that are difficult and make us leave our comfort zones!
Is there anyone else here traveling around the United States as a digital nomad? My wife and I have been doing since February and are really enjoying it. We are still learning the best way to do it and we have gotten a lot better. I would love to hear from your others doing the same.
I wanted to reshare our personal story… we hope it helps somebody else in this community.
My wife and I decided to change our lives some time ago. We were in a serious rut and were not doing our best in many aspects of life. Both of us wanted more in our lives and knew that we were selling ourselves short. Maybe some of you can relate...
We needed more balance and new habits that served us better. Deep down, we were unhappy with ourselves and the quality of our lives. We did not exercise often, indulged in less than nutritious food, woke up late, had a pessimistic outlook, did not read, wasted precious time doing nothing important, etc. You get the idea...
After procrastinating for quite some time, we committed ourselves to an 84-day personal challenge that we designed specifically for ourselves after researching the key components of living a balanced, healthy, positive, happy, and productive life. We chose 84 days for reasons that we explain below.
After diving deep into scientifically-proven ways to change and better our lives, we created and embarked on a 12-week challenge which completely transformed our lives.
We discovered that it all boiled down to our daily habits, and we knew we had to make some serious changes. We learned about the power of keystone habits. We read books like Atomic Habits, Grit, Tiny Habits, Mindfulness, etc. and learned a lot from them. It lit a spark in us.
Without going into too much detail, we decided to focus on six main habit changes: exercise, nutrition, daily self improvement (reading and TedTalks), mindfulness practice, gratitude and acceptance practice, and the daily visualization of our goals. All these six habits are proven to be effective if done correctly and consistently.
Because of what we learned from our research, we adopted one new habit each week for six weeks, followed by an additional six weeks of practicing all six habits together daily, hence 84 days. When we faltered (and we certainly did!), we simply started that week again.
What we learned is that it is important to start with just one habit change and then stack other habits on top of that (rather than an “all or nothing” or “all at once” approach). So that is exactly what we did. We added one new habit each week for six weeks, then followed that up by practicing all six habits every day for the remaining six weeks. That’s how our 84-day challenge was born.
We practiced this religiously for 84 days and felt amazingly different after it was all over. It was definitely not easy, especially at first. The hardest part was staying consistent, but we stuck with it, thankfully. We believe that the stacking of the habits was instrumental in our success.
Our close circle of friends noticed the changes in us and many of them enquired what we did, so we shared it with them. Some of them chose to follow in our footsteps and we now have this little social group where we meet up in person to support and encourage one another. We found out that it definitely makes it easier if you have support and a like-minded community. We even created a free website to make it easier for our friends to read about our story and learn the rules we created.
How did the entire endeavor change us? We became healthier, stronger, more resilient, happier, more positive, more confident, and we both lost weight. We are much more disciplined and focused now. Frivolous things in life bother us much less. Our health metrics improved quite a bit, too. Even our son noticed the changes in us and adopted many of the same rules in his life, something that makes us extremely happy.
We learned a lot from the entire experience and will never go back to our old selves. We believe that it is never too late to make changes in our lives. 🙏💪
Feel free to ask us any questions if you'd like. We love sharing our story and helping others who are in the same boat we were. We are nothing special. All we needed, we now realize, is a method and some rules to adhere to. We affectionately named it the "84 Strong Challenge" (I believe it will show up if you Google it).
We sincerely hope this inspires and motivates at least a few of you. It is never too late to make changes. We are all in this together. And we respect everyone’s effort to become better. 🙏
Now that I’m older and wiser, I realize that one of the most important skills one can have is being able to recognize things in life that are beyond your control and the ability to accept them. Instead, the key is to focus on things that are within your control.
Learning this one skill alone has brought me tremendous peace in my life, along with focused power. Whether it is the way someone else treats you, an injustice you suffered in the past, or something as simple as the weather outside, accepting it for what it is instead of ruminating on it and trying to change it brings free real freedom. This is the key lesson that is taught in Stoicism.
That does not mean you lay down, play dead, and become helpless. It simply means that you channel your energy towards things that you actually have control over.
Everybody will experience bad things in their lives sometimes, but we all have the option to choose how to react to them. Therein lies the real power that we all possess. 🙏

What is the best gym in Kingston? I will be visiting for two months and need someplace to work out.
My wife and I are traveling the country and doing ‘slow travel’. That means that we try to stay at least a month in each place so that we can learn the local culture, enjoy the dining scene, meet new friends, and soak it all in.
Our next stop is Old Orchard Beach where we’ve rented a beach condo. What are some things you’d recommend we see and do? We also love meeting locals and sharing stories.
Thank you.

Some of you may have read our previous post about how we managed to make big changes our lives and our daily habits using a system we researched and implemented.
A lot of you asked me a bunch of questions on what exactly we did, what the rules were, and how we implemented the habits and stacked them. Thank you for all the private messages and comments!
My wife and I decided to create a 100% free web site resource to help others wanting to implement the same 84-day challenge we completed. It is completely free and the web site provides details on our story as well as how and why we did what we did.
For those who are interested, you can check it out here: www.84StrongChallenge.com.
We would love to have a group of people join us on this journey so that we can support one another.
For those of you who have signed up with planet fitness without giving them your bank account routing number, how exactly did you do it? I have heard that some people set up a Venmo account which allows you to use your Venmo routing number as a substitute. I also know that some people set up a second bank account specifically to give to planet fitness, but that is something I am reluctant to do. I would much you would rather use a credit card or some other alternative then to give them the right to take money out of my bank.
